Too Good to be True.......2007-12-20

The battery that came with my Motorola V551 cell phone started losing its charge faster and faster. When I discovered that a new battery purchased at retail pricing was $52 I searched the internet and found a number of offerings through Amazon at absolutely amazing prices - some less than a dollar. The shipping cost much more than the battery! I picked one that wasn't too cheap to try out. It took a full charge and seemed to be working beautifully, keeping a charge better than the old battery through the first hour of use. Fifteen minutes later I needed to place a call and found the phone had turned off. It would power up to the point of showing the cell phone number on the screen and then power off. Even with the car charger plugged in the phone wouldn't power up. When I got home I plugged in the old battery and the phone worked like a charm, although it still has the same problem with holding a charge as long as it used to. The new battery actually caused the phone to fail. I don't know what I'm going to do about getting a new battery. Perhaps I should just order ten of the cheap ones and hope that one of them would work. The point of all this is that this cheap solution didn't work and I would be very wary of trusting these batteries offered and such low prices.
