Full HD 1080p Resolution
When it comes to high-definition TV the pinnacle of performance is achieved by using 1920 x 1080 display panels. And BRAVIA V-Series televisions have them. Advanced Contrast Enhancer (ACE) Function
Sony's Advanced Contrast Enhancer (ACE) builds on our excellent on-contrast ratio performance of 1600:11. A Dynamic Contrast Ratio of up to 13,000:12 is achieved by using real-time image processing to adjust the contrast along with optimizing backlight levels. But rather than focus on the "numbers", Sony focuses on actual picture performance avoiding exaggerated blacks where detail can be lost. ACE translates to blacker blacks in darker scenes, as well as better shadow detail in other scenes for a difference that you can see.

24p True Cinema (24p Input Capability)
Many movies are filmed at 24 frames per second (fps) and prime time TV programs are video taped at 24p. Seizing on an opportunity, some studios are taking a purist approach and encoding high definition video content such as Blu-ray Disc in 24p. Great TV!.......2007-12-25

There's not much I can add that's already been said. It took me a while to choose this tv and even though it's a little pricey for it's screen size, I've been very happy with it. Great color. Good sound for built-in speakers. Great picture overall. Xbox 360 games look great on it! I don't have an HD DVD player or Blu-ray player but regular dvds look good on the tv. It's easy to use. As of writing this review, I've had the tv for about 3 weeks to a month.

I researched LCD HD TVs for quite a while before deciding on the Sony Bravia 40" model I bought. It cost a bit more than some others, but the picture quality and the good audio was well worth the money. We have several other Sony electronic products and have always had good luck with them. This was no exception. We especially like the sharp picture and the large viewing angle (178 degrees). This model was high on Consumer Report's list, too.

Amazon handled the purchase and delivery in a professional timely way. And it didn't hurt that I got in under a free shipping offer.

Audible Digital Noise From the Speakers.......2007-12-24

The picture is great, but there is an audible digital noise that comes out from the speakers. You would never hear this noise over the ambient noise in a retail store, but you can certainly hear it in a quiet environment. This is a constant level noise that is present from all the inputs, even is there is no source connected. It only goes away if you use the mute button, or run the volume down to zero.

I've called Sony customer support (bad experience, and one of the main reasons for this post), and eventually they had me contact an authorized Sony repair center, who will be out later this week.

I'm sure this will require them taking the set away for a couple of weeks.

So, whether this is a electrical design flaw, or a isolated experience, I'd allow the set to warm up for a few minutes, and then listen to the audio, before I'd let Eagle Delivery leave your house.

I'd rather deal with a refused shipment with Amazon, then to deal with Sony's terrible customer support.
