Toshiba's Regza line of TVs marry state-of-the-art technology to hip design. One feature that sets them apart is PixelPure 14-bit digital video processing, which creates more than 4,000 levels of color gradations for a smooth, natural-looking picture without posterization or image banding. Another benefit is a fast response time. Response time is the interval an LCD screen takes to from its darkest color to its lightest color and back again, measured in milliseconds (ms). This screen's response time is 8 ms, which is at the faster and better end of the spectrum. This screen is likely to display cleaner, sharper images during high-action scenes and with fewer image artifacts than other screens in its class. This technology is housed in a black gloss cabinetry that is sure to fit well with most any decor.
The 37HL67 has a panel resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. This qualifies it as 720 progressive-line HDTV, which is a noticeably better picture than standard definition sets, but not as detailed as the 1080 HD sets available. Its 16:9 wide screen aspect ratio delivers most movies the way they were meant to be seen in the theater, without back bars wasting the top and bottom of the screen.
The Value of LCD TVs
Aside from their obvious aesthetic value, LCD TVs are much more practical in the home than CRT (tube-style) televisions. They take up a smaller footprint, and thus use up less floor space in the room. Also, LCD TVs are lighter and easier to move around when cleaning or redecorating. The 37HL67 is only 4.65 inches deep and weighs less than 35 pounds. Best of all, LCD screens use less power than CRTs and plasma screens.
Connections
The set has a built-in digital television tuner, so out of the box it can receive digital broadcast ATSC signals and QAM signals used by most digital cable providers. It also has a built-in 181-channel NTSC tuner, so it can also accept traditional analog signals. It can also make these connections to your audio and video components:

Audio
The unit's SoundStrip speaker system hides the unit's speakers in a thin strip bordering the screen. They're powerful enough to deliver big stereo sound, but they don't add significantly to the size of the set. Toshiba's StableSound feature maintains television volume within a preset range regardless of the source signal. This is an extremely useful feature when transitioning between a quiet television program and a very loud commercial advertisement or when changing channels. SRS WOW, a combination of SRS 3D, TruBass, and Focus sound-expanding systems, create a 3-D sound field with improved bass response over standard TV audio and create directed, three-dimensional audio sweet spot for maximum enjoyment. The TV also has optical digital output for connecting to your audio system.
37-inch wide screen
A general rule of thumb for selecting the right size television screen is that the screen width--not its 37-inch diagonal measurement--should be between three and five times the optimum viewing distance, such as the distance from the TV screen to where your eyes are while sitting on the couch. Less than that and you may be distracted by the scan lines of the picture. More than that, and you may lose the detail of your TV. Based on this guide, the 37HL67 is ideal for viewing distances of 8 to 14 feet.

Great TV, some things to note about delivery/inputs/outputs.......2007-12-26
I have had this TV for almost 2 months. The TV itself is fantastic! I went from a 27" SDTV (using Dish Network) to this model with Dish HD and an up-converting DVD player. I also upgraded our audio receiver at the same time. I compared this set to an LG set (similar size) and went with this set (I thought the picture was better, I have also had very good luck with Toshiba products). The picture quality is excellent for HD and also for SD channels as well. There are plenty of input connections for everything you can think of. I also have my PC running through this set (DVI output on PC to HDMI on TV) and games look great as well. The audio from the TV sounded fine to me until I hooked up the digital audio system; I now use the digital audio receiver (5.1 speaker setup) 99% of the time as the 5.1 channel sound is significantly better than the TV sound output.
Some points to note:
a) The "white-glove" delivery service consisted of bringing the box into the house. The guy grumbled when he was asked to unpack the TV.
b)I debated getting my satellite programming upgraded to HD. I am very glad that I did; there are quite a few channels that are unique to HD programming and the quality (picture/sound) is excellent. I didn't see the need for a 1080p TV since the satellite broadcasts are only 720p/1080i, I wasn't planning on getting an HD DVD/Blu-Ray player and the size of the set did not warrant the extra money for 1080p.
c)To get the full digital 5.1 audio effect you must have a digital audio receiver PLUS you must connect each digital device (satellite box, DVD player) directly to the audio receiver. This TV only accepts PCM audio input from the HDMI cables. There is a digital out from the TV but it will not pass a digital 5.1 audio signal from the HDMI through (only PCM). The audio receiver I purchased only has digital audio connections (not HDMI connections) so I had to get a digital optical cable for the satellite receiver digital out and a coaxial cable for the DVD player digital out.
d)I purchased an up-converting DVD player; I cannot tell the difference (I still have my old DVD player hooked up to the HD set). Maybe for larger sets that are 1080p the up-conversion may be worth it?
e)Think about what cables you need and buy them from Amazon. All the retail stores charge high prices for cables which are not worth the extra cost.
f)I bought component cables for the Wii, some games do look better at the higher resolution if the higher resolution was supported (only one game looked "blocky" but it was a third-party lousy game anyway).

Analog SD, digital SD, & High Def pictures all look great! My Nintendo Wii & older cheapo DVD player both put up a fantastic 480p picture using component cables.
I also watched some TV shows I missed on the CW & NBC by connecting my laptop to the set via s-video and playing them from their websites. I couldn't tell the difference between the shows playing off my laptop and watching them live on digital cable.
I recommend the TV to anyone.

After seeing this at Circuit City I checked Amazon and found the price MUCH lower. The picture was so much better than others in the store, so ordering it here was a pretty easy decision to make. After a great experience with Eagle, Amazon's shipper, and hooking it up I was amazed at the quality for the price I paid. I was anxious about dealing with delivery, but having someone bring it to my house and help unpack it was less stressful than other TVs I've bought where I had to load a big box in my car, haul it in the house, etc.
I use mine to watch digital channels with the QAM tuner. In addition to the great picture (especially on HD channels) it has great channel handling and flips through channels reasonably quickly. Overall I'm very happy with this TV and the Amazon experience.

Remarkable little speakers - open, clear room-filling sound.......2007-03-24
If you're looking for compact, attractive speakers that sound great, it's hard to do better than the Mirage Omnisat. They are very clear and open, without any of the boxiness or dull sound that conventional compact speakers often have.
They are an especially good choice if you're looking for speakers for a room that isn't a dedicated home theater with the recommended layout. That is, if you have an irregular room, multiple seating areas, or a room you use for more than just watching movies and listening to music, the Omnisats do an amazing job of filling the room with nice sound. Many conventional speakers only sound good at one spot in the room.
This is the second generation of Mirage's Omnipolar satellite speakers, hence the name - Omnisat V2. Omnidirectional speakers such as these spread sound into a large area, that is, they have very wide dispersion. That's part of how these little speakers fill the room with sound.
You can use these in any speaker position (including the center), or combine them with the matching V2 floorstanding and center speakers in any combination.
With 8 ohms impedance, they are compatible with any receiver/amplifier. The 89db sensitivity means they will be easy to drive - they don't need an excessive amount of power to produce sound. But with power handling of up to 150 watts, they can produce a lot of sound.
A couple things to note in thinking about whether they are right for you:
- The Omnisats are very small for the sound they produce, but they aren't tiny speakers at 5-9/16"W x 8-1/8"H x 5-15/16"D. Look at the dimensions, and find something about that size at home to give you an idea of how they'll fit in. (Mirage does make the smaller Nanosat, and while they're nice you'll definitely need a subwoofer if you use those.)
- Alternatively, if you have space, use these just as satellites and get the FS (floorstanding) and center speaker that perfectly match these. Or, look at the OMD-5 or the less expensive OMD 150, both of which use a 5.5" woofer.
- If you have a room with lots of very hard surfaces (all glass and walls, not much drapery and carpets) there may be a lot of sound reflections in the high end from these omnidirectional speakers, so they may sound "bright" or a bit harsh in your room. Getting them placed right might help reduce that, but they still might not be the best choice in such a room.
- Despite their amazing ability to fill a room, as with all speakers placement relative to where you're listening from is essential to getting the best sound. You need to be able to look into the speaker from where you're sitting for it to sound best.
