HDMI is a lossless, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface to link any audio/video source (such as a set-top box, DVD player, or AV receiver) with your TV--all over a single cable. HDMI supports standard, enhanced or high definition video, plus multi-channel digital audio on a single cable. It supports all ATSC formats--standard (SDTV), enhanced (EDTV), and high (HDTV).
Component video (also called Y/Pb/Pr) features a three-jack video input, which provides separate connections for luminance (Y), blue color difference (PB) and red color difference (PR). This results in increased bandwidth for color information, resulting in a more accurate picture with clearer color reproduction and less bleeding than you would get with S-Video or composite (RCA yellow video plug) connections. You will need a separate RCA left/right audio cable for sound.
High Definition Formats: The most common high-def (HD) video format is 720p, which displays video at 720 vertical by 1280 horizontal pixels. The "p" denotes that it is progressive scan, meaning that all video lines are filled at the same time. The 1080i format displays video at 1080 vertical by 1920 horizontal pixels, and the "i" means that it is interlaced (the old-school way of presenting video where the screen scans the odd-numbered video lines first, then the even-numbered lines). The 1080p format has the same pixel resolution as 1080i, but it is a progressive scan format and thus has a constant vertical resolution of 1080 lines.

I have a space limitation and was looking for the biggest screen I could find to fit in my dimensions. I am also partial to LCD's, because I having been using one for years with my computer. This Panasonic model met my physical needs and I have been satisfied with their products in the past. In addition, prices seemed to be in a downward spiral, so I felt I was getting a good deal at time of purchase. The price spiral seems to be continuing, so do your homework to make sure you are getting a fair price.
The TV was easy to set up--but I was simply replacing an existing HD CRT TV, so all I had to do was to pull out my old CRT type and plug the old cables in. The only change I made was to convert to HDMI cables from my DVD player and my cable company DVR/cable box. I am not sure how much HDMI cables improve the picture--and they are pretty expensive.
The on screen controls seemed easy to me, but I had previously had an HD TV and I was primed for what to expect. Novices will probably find the hook up and set up process fairly complex, particularly if you are using a stand alone stereo tuner for the first time to set up a home theater.
Note this TV does not support a 1080P input--currently only used for HD/Blue Ray DVD players--it will simply convert the input to a lower quality. This was not an issue for me, as it appears that a 1080P picture provides improvement only if you are within 7 feet of a 50" TV. As I am about 10 feet from a 32", not spending the extra money for 1080P as well as the required player was a no brainer. I use cable and the HD channels (we have about 20) generally look wonderful. If you have never had HD before, the clarity can be spectacular. However, note when watching non-HD channels, the picture often looks fuzzy. This is mostly related to the HD process, although Consumer Reports indicates that this Panasonic model is only average in displaying non-HD signals. As with all my previous TV's, I was unable to get the remote to handle the basic functions of my cable box or DVD player--you may have better luck.
Price was right, quality is excellent, so if the size is right and the lack of 1080P is not an issue, I can strongly recommend this model.
Excellent quality, Affordable Price.......2007-01-12
As the other reviewer has said, I'll keep this short, but hopefully informative. I wanted a 32 inch LCD TV with the best possible picture quality, good SDTV display along with HDTV display, the ability to fine tune the picture with many options including black level and backlight which I feel are important adjustments for an LCD screen, two HDMI inputs with HDCP and the highest contrast ratio I could find (3000:1) and last but not least, the ability to fine tune each and every input into the TV to my own preferences. This Pannie has all of the above plus more features. Originally released mid-2006, this TV has steep discounts due to Panasonic rolling out an updated version of this model that features better motion display. I took a good look at other comparable 32 inch LCD TV's in certain big box retailers and I found that none equal the TC-32LX600 display, period. I am impressed with the quality and look of this set, very sleek and modern: At first I was not too concerned with aesthetics, but now I know better!
A great buy, do a little research yourself on price before you buy and you will not be disappointed.

I did a lot of research. I'll keep it short. I am very pleased, this one is the best in its class. Dual HDMI very good and important to have. Matte black case excellent. Brightness excellent. UPS shipping from elec expo was fine.

Looked at a Samsung for a similar price and was swayed by the QAM tuner. Tough luck, the Panasonic is not tuning any cable HD channels in.
PROS: The OTA HD channels are splendid. SD cable reception is nothing to complain about.DVD playback is almost identical on component and HDMI. Almost.
Check AVSforum for fine tuning, and fiddle with the system menu too, if you care about that. Separate adjustments for each input with 3 different modes each. The THX disk adjustments did not improve things a lot on component.
Sub-pixel addressing, if you think it is important.
Looks superb, sleek, understated. Two HDMIs.
CONS: No VGA in. S-video is B/W no matter what source I tried. No USB in. Single component in.
Probably the Olevia 537H(not the 532H due to poor video chip performance) or even the HP 32" / Philips 32" are a better overall value.
BOTTOM LINE: Premium price for reliability and overall performance. 4 stars for value, 5 stars for performance, 4 stars for connectivity.
