HDMI is a lossless, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface to link any audio/video source (such as a set-top box, DVD player, or AV receiver) with your TV--all over a single cable. It provides up to a 5 GB per second bandwidth for transmitting pure digital video and audio signals with no degradation in the transfer. It can carry up to eight discrete audio channels, making it compatible with 7.1-channel surround sound systems. Signals are encrypted with HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) to prevent recording. HDMI is fully backward-compatible with most DVI connections .

TruSurround XT audio adds three new audio enhancement technologies to produce an amazingly immersive sound experience.

Dialog Clarity brings movie dialog into ÒfocusÓ during the playback of any surround-encoded material to make speech much clearer and crisper.

Component video (also called Y/Pb/Pr) features a three-jack video input, which provides separate connections for luminance (Y), blue color difference (PB) and red color difference (PR). This results in increased bandwidth for color information, resulting in a more accurate picture with clearer color reproduction and less bleeding than you would get with S-Video or composite (RCA yellow video plug) connections. You will need a separate RCA left/right audio cable for sound.

Looks much more expensive than it really is - great buy.......2007-05-09

I actually bought this TV on clearance from Best Buy. You'll be surprised how good of a deal you can get from them.

So far I am very pleased with the TV. It looks much more expensive than it really is - I love how the speakers are hidden and how it looks with the glossy black finish.

The picture quality is quite good but not perfect. The greens are abit neon and the reds abit exaggerated. I've been able to tone it down, but not quite to perfection. There is only 1 component input, so if you have multiple gaming units (Xbox 360, PS2, etc.) that use component you will need to get a switcher. HDTV looks amazing and seems to get better reception than my TV upstairs. I'm able to pull in all the major HD channels in my area.

All in all, a great TV that looks like it's worth $3000. A couple shortcomings but easily overlooked at this price. At my seating position, it would be tough to tell the difference between 720p and 1080p so I saved myself alot of money! Highly recommended.

Buyer Beware # 2.......2007-04-29

We bought this on January 13th. The picture died on April 27th. We contacted Samsung Customer Care who directed me to the Service Engineer assinged to our area. He could not schedule the repair visit until Samsung authorized the " extra mileage". So we carted an old TV in from the garage, ( It weighs a ton) and have it setting in front of the Samsung. Service visit scheduling should be approved " some time soon" according to Samsung customer care. If it were not a $ 2000.00 machine, I would take it out in the drive way and run over it and ship it to Samsung collect. I feel like the Clampitts here with two TV's setting in the family room.

Great from beginning to end.......2007-03-28

Ordering a big screen TV online was definitely a new experience for me, but having read the other reviews about delivery service with Amazon, I was much more comfortable with trying it.... and I am so glad I did. To say I love the TV would be an understatement! The picture clarity is fascinating! We had to wait for the cable company to set up the new connection, but in the mean time, we tried a rabbit ear connection and the picture we got with rabbit ears was unbelievable! The TV came when it was supposed to be delivered and Eagle set up the TV - wouldn't leave until they saw the TV come on to its menu screen and they carried out of the packaging. I definitely recommend both Amazon and the TV - both were better than I could have imagined!!!

I'VE HAD MINE FOR A WEEK...SO FAR...SO EXCELLENT (BEYOND GOOD OR GREAT)...I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS TELEVISION! YOU WON'T REGRET BUYING THIS...YEAH..IT'LL BURN A HOLE IN YOUR POCKET, BUT ABSOLUTELY WORTH EVERY PENNY YOU PAY FOR IT!

First of all let me say that I chose to purchase from Samsung because of the excellent service record according to other customers...believe me I read every review there was before purchasing my 46 inch flat screen TV.....since this latest experience though you can be sure that I will be voicing my own opinion. We purchased this television in November...it went bad on February 12th...I then contacted the service center Samsung recommended and was told that I would have to bring it in...thus having to wait until my husband got home on the 16th of February as it was too heavy for me...then the service center had it for a week before submitting the SAW to Samsung because of a faulty display...that was over a month and a half ago...now my husband called and was told that the Regional Service Engineer hasn't even approved a replacement! In the meantime my wall looks wonderful with the silver bars across it that are supposed to be holding a television..........
