sharp LC-26D6U acquos.......2007-10-01
TV sound quit working after 13 months. Had problems with set turning on randomly. Sharp will not help since TV set warranty was only 12 months. Local bench charges are minimum of $80.00 just to look at it and boards average a few hundred dollars. Sharp Customer Service services and protects Sharp only.
No Problems.......2007-03-08
I have owned this TV fo 6 Months now. It worked perfectly from day one with no problems. It has a superb picture even in SDTV mode. I don't understand all the problems the other reviewers report. Sometimes reading the instruction book really helps.
Mixed feelings, some basic design flaws.......2007-01-05
When it (works most of the time) it has a very good picture. However there have been many times that it was frustrating when the set malfunctions to have to unplug the set for ten seconds or more then plug it back in to get it reset. I have some backround in machine design; It seems that the microcontroller can get into an undefined state and there is no watchdog circuit built in to get the set back into operation without user intervention. Sharp's recommended service shop and factory technical support failed to address this problem.
Poor customer service, awful product.......2006-12-20
I bought this TV Oct 18th as a refurb from 2nd Act. 2 mos later, haven't watched it yet. It arrived broken (turns on & off continually). 2nd Act totally uninterested. Only Sharp warranty repair in/near Austin is ET Television, which got lowest possible rating on Austin City Search. I couldn't agree more. In shop for 1 month, got it home & still broken. Sharp customer Service has been a nightmare. No response, people on phone keep saying they are sorry, nothing they can do.
Poor quality control, even worse Sharp customer service.......2006-11-02
I ordered this television with high hopes, knowing that despite reports of firmware problems and other defects that I would luck out and save a bundle. But you get what you pay for. Every Sharp Aquos LCD TV manufactured before April 1, 2006 shipped with bad firmware. What does this mean to you?
For me, it meant that 15 minutes after unpacking the TV and turning it on, it turned itself off and never turned back on again. Resets, system resets, power cycling, unplugging components didn't help. My TV was completely bricked. A search turned up threads on websites like AVS Forum with other owners of Sharp TVs in the D4U and D6U series all reporting similar power management problems almost immediately after purchase. For them, the fix was a visit to a Sharp authorized service center to either have the firmware replaced or a physical replacement of boards inside the TV. I say a "visit" because Sharp does not cover in-house technician visits for TVs under 32", a fact they could have informed me of before letting me wait 1 week for a tech visit that would ultimately be canceled.
So here I am, 10 days later and hundreds of dollars poorer with no TV to show for it. Instead, it sits at the authorized service center (because Sharp obviously does not vet its service centers to make sure you get good service from them either).
I'm willing to bet all of the inventory of D6Us that TigerDirect is selling at fire sale prices were produced before 4/1/2006. Check the serial number on your TV if you do order one. If it begins with a 501-512, 601, 602 or 603, immediately demand a firmware upgrade from Sharp (1-800-BE-SHARP), regardless of whether or not you're experiencing these issues; you will eventually, and hopefully while Sharp's warranty is still in effect for you.

To all the people complaining about bubbles.......2007-06-16
Everyone who's complaining about bubbles, there's a trick to minimize the bubbles (I have maybe three really small ones that aren't even noticable (on the front), and no bubbles at all on the back.
When you're applying the screen don't just throw it on there..start at the bottom and SLOWLY put it on; working from bottom to top..when you're doing this rub upwards (or any direction, except for down) thereby getting rid of any bubbles immediately when applying. If you do have some bubbles left (probably around the sides)..rub those to the nearest sides and edges as hard as you can so they can escape from under the screen. And voila hopefully you won't have such a big bubble problem.
note: I didn't buy this exact screen from amazon, i bought mine on ebay and it was for the entire ipod not just the screen.
Not bad for the money.......2006-06-28
I would like to see it wrap around till both ends touch but, i did like the clarity and the material used.
Garbage.......2006-06-13
Don't waste your money. This cover adheres to the ipod very poorly. You'll never get the bubbles out of it. Pure rip off.
Gets the job done.......2006-04-11
I found this to work well enough for something that costs $9. I had a rubber casing on it before, but that was a pain because added to the iPod's bulk in my shirt pocket. This sheath adds no bulk but prevents those all-too-easy scratches. Applying it was straight forward and the result is okay. I've read some of the other comments here, and here are my thoughts on it:
* Bubbles: I freaked about the bubbles when I first applied it, but do like the instructions say to and you'll be okay. i.e. smooth out all the big bubbles as soon as possible, then let it sit. The smaller bubbles that are left immediately after you apply mostly go away. I now have some very tiny bubbles, mostly around the thumb pad, which show I think only because I have a black iPod. They probably wouldn't be visible on a white iPod. And to me, they're really not a big deal. What is slightly more annoying is the long bubbles that appear at the edges, but that could have probably been avoided by stretching it a little tighter when I applied it. But again, not a big deal to me. But then, I don't use my iPod for watching much video. If I did, I might notice it more often.
* Peeling - I've been using this sheath for 4 months now, and it's completely intact. Might not be at the end of the year, but what do you want for $9? Just make sure you clean the iPod properly before applying it, of course (use alcohol - no, not Jack Daniels).
* Dirt/Fluff - Haven't seen much of this in other comments, so just a heads up to be really sure you have all dust, dirt, fluff and hair off of the screen before applying. A tiny hair crept in under mine and now looks like a tiny crack on the screen. Easily avoided.
If you watch out for those things, I think this product works as good as you could expect for a $9 item.
okay job.......2006-03-31
It's true the scratch protector does leave annoying bubbles but it protects the face...for a bit. Now (after about two months or so) the edges don't stick anymore and it's starting to flake off so now I need new ones...or a new way to protect my ipod.
