Solution for a defective product.......2005-08-26
I had a minor mishap when I first bought my Mini Flipstand. I excitedly stuck my iPod in, but it wouldn't go down far enough for the top to click shut. I tried to push it in farther, but it wouldn't move. Then I tried to push the iPod out of the case. Again, it wouldn't move.
I frantically called Speck and they were very nice. They said that some of their customers have reported this problem. They offered to pay all my shipping costs, so I could mail it back to them with the iPod in it; they would then remove it and replace my Flipstand, taking all responsibilities should anything happen to my iPod in the process.
This was a generous offer, but I didn't really want to send my iPod off and be without it for an indefinite amount if time. Instead, I figured out a kind of solution. I took a screwdriver with removable heads, wrapped it in medical tape (to blunt the end), and applied pressure to the end. It popped right out. I imagine one could also use the eraser end of a pencil--anything wide enough not to slip into the charger port and damage it, and soft enough not to damage the iPod itself.
After that, I slowly and very carefully slipped my Mini back in. It went in all the way this time, and the lid closed. I won't be able to slip it back out easily any time soon, but that's okay. I don't think I'll need to.

Let me start by saying that this case for the i pod mini has its pros and cons. it protects the ipod mini and has a perfect fit. but to much hassle with opening the case to function the wheel. of the it should have been removed another major problem with this case is that the belt clip is made very poorly. and does not come close the original case that the i pod mini comes with. its to thin and looks like it will break and further more its does not have a swivel clip. the way most cell phones have. will there ever be a perfect case i havent seen one yet.
Perfect Case for my iPod mini!.......2005-07-22
I love this case, it has everything I was looking for and features that I didn't even know I wanted. I never have to worry about sticking my iPod mini in my purse because I know its protected from head to toe. I love the flipstand, its great for when I'm listening to my iPod at work because I can see what song is playing and use the click wheel without having to pick up the whole thing. It is a little inconvenient when its charging or syncing because the cord keeps the flipstand from standing, but its well worth the trouble to have such a protective and beautiful case.
When the day comes that my Speck FlipStand is all scratched and dinged up from being abused, there's no question that I would buy another one asap.
Good case for the money........2005-07-11
Finding a good case for the iPod mini is different than finding a good one for an expensive mobile phone. For one, usage is different. For instance, there's no reason to expect that you'll be putting your iPod up to your face (unless you love it so much that you coddle it affectionately).
The mini is my first "real" MP3 player. At the time of this writing, I've had it for 3 months. Originally, I took the philosophy that the type of case I bought for my mobile phone would also work for my mini. So, the idea was to allow certain parts (i.e. the wheel) to be exposed so that I could access them easily. I found that this is a problem--it's better to protect the wheel, screen and other parts of the player while its not in use so that they don't get dirty, scratched and gross. The mini has a great design and can be looked at as a beautiful, industrial work of art. I certainly don't want to ruin it. So, after a few instances of cleaning the wheel and a couple of cruddy scratches I decided to look for a new case, and this is the case I found. It's really, truly great.
Everything is fully protected except for the hold switch and headphone plugs. The flipstand is pretty cool. You can sit at your desk and listen to music and can glace at the iPod screen without having to move your head to much (that's laziness). When the flipstand is down the wheel is exposed, letting you switch between songs and hit play/pause pretty easily. Navigating the menu is a little awkward unless you pick the mini up (which is sort of expected anyway).
I give this case 5 stars but there's one thing that might some individuals to give it 4. When the flipstand is closed and covers the wheel it also covers the sync cable outlet. Therefore, you can't sync (or charge) and leave the wheel unexposed. When the flipstand is down the sync cable fits in fine, but the case doesn't function--the unit won't stand and you end up having to lay the iPod down. Plus the flipstand gets in the way and the iPod ends up laying down in a funny way. All of a sudden something that used to be functional seems poorly designed. This isn't a big deal to me. So it might not be a big deal to you either, but I thought I'd mention it.

I have to say when i first bought my 4GB ipod mini i immediatley bought a case for it it was a DLO sport case it was alright but it didnt do a good job protecting my ipod so i looked online and found this is case and i have to say its amazing its clear so u can show off ur vibrant colors it has screen and click wheel protection its easy to get ur ipod out of and it even has a stand best product i ever bought BUY IT!!!!
