Decent sound; noisy cord.......2007-12-21
The bad news: as other reviewers pointed out, if the cords are touched at all -- if they brush against your clothes, or even if they are exposed to wind -- they transmit a tremendous amouth of noise to your ears. I can only use these earbuds if I'm not moving at all.
The good news: the sound is good, way better than standard iPod earbuds. And the rubber tips make for a good fit.
A great noise-blocking headphone!.......2007-11-29
I bought this headphone over a month ago and have been using it while on public transit as well as in the gym. Once you ensure that the fit works well, the noise blocking is fantastic. Except for people standing closer to you to talk, you hear absolutely nothing else. I am used to the cable wrapped around behind the neck now. This may be bothering others..
Great earphones for the (discounted) price!.......2007-11-29
I got these b/c I'm sick of the crappy white ipod earphones... for less than $40 with shipping I can't really complain. Yeah, the noisy and uneven cord is odd but it's not a show stopper. If I would have paid more for these I would probably be disappointed for all the reasons other people have stated... But these are definitely a step up from what I had. The sound is great, they fit well and I got them at a great price -- I'm happy.
IF my cat happens to get a hold of them (b/c they don't come with a case)I won't totally be heartbroken.
UPDATE - 12/3/07 - I'm returning these earphones. They SUCK! In my opinion anyway. I just ordered the Shure E3c!
Noise Eliminating....are you kidding?.......2007-11-21
I was so excited to try these earbuds given all the great reviews I'd heard, not only from this site, but from dedicated headphone sites also. These were my first pair of non-standard earbuds, so my expectations were high. I know you can spend a lot more money, but as I am not an expert, I thought this price would be enough to buy a half decent product. Unfortunately I was really disappointed. The quality of the sound was good, as I said I'm no expert, but compared to the standard issue iPod earphones, there was a marked improvement. My main gripe was the fact that they are advertised as noise eliminating. This is a ridiculous claim. They hardly reduce any outside noise unless you have your iPod set at ear-piercing volume. I could hear everything, even myself walking around. One of my main reasons for buying noise eliminating earbuds is that my partner is a snorer, but I could still hear him crooning away even when the volume was high on my iPod. I quite frequently take long flights and I know these plugs will not come near to eliminating the sound of the engines. I also found the ear pieces uncomfortable. The sleeves are thin and although at first you can get a good fit, after a while they start to hurt and they have a tendency to drop out. The medium sleeve fitted well, but after wearing it for a few hours I found them quite painful and my left ear is still sore after not wearing them for a few days. I know this is probably more to do with my ears than the buds, but I'm sure a softer, more cushioned bud would be far more comfortable. All in all, I was so disappointed with the CX300's that I returned them and am now looking for another make.
Bad Sound.......2007-11-16
The CX 300 earbuds are very tinny. Almost no bass compared to original earbuds that came with my NWZ-S616F Sony Walkman. The earbuds are more comfortable than the Sony earbuds. But the sacrifice of sound quality is to great to keep them. I am sending mine back.

Great Performers For the Money.......2007-12-26
I found the sound of the Sennheisers to be very detailed and lifelike. Highs although maybe a tad bright, are undeniably crisp and sharp. The bass response is very satisfactory...before i purchased these i would have never believed a pair of earbuds could produce this kind of rich, deep bass. The sound-cancelling aspect is very good as well. Ambient noise all but disappears, and i found i could listen to my zune at a much lower volume than i had to with the stock earbuds. As far as comfort goes, I have fallen asleep wearing these more than once, and having them in for 8 hours or more left my ears with absolutely zero pain or soreness; they are quite comfortable indeed. My biggest gripe aside from the brightness of the sound would be the exclusion of a storage case..i had to get creative and make use of an empty altoids tin to transport my headphones. Other than that, I am very pleased with my purchase..enough so that i bought a pair for my dad for christmas (He was equally impressed). At less than 40 bucks here at Amazon, these are a complete no-brainer. Sure you can spend more, but unless you are a true audiophile, I can't imagine that you would need need much more than what the CX-300 delivers.
In Your Ear.......2007-12-25
Previously, I had tried a set of audiophile in-ear phones at about triple the price. I wasn't happy with them. I tried these and was happy, except for the lack of a carry case (where smaller is better).
I agree that the selection of size is important. I started with the default medium size and tried the others. I thought the larger would fit better and tried those for a while. But, soon went back to the mediums which seemed to fit MY ears fairly well.
The highs and lows are good. The noise reduction is pretty good, which I wasn't sure about from previous reviews. A recent 2.5hr flight made me glad that I had them -- enjoying the music and not even hearing the baby crying about 6 rows back (until I took them off).
I didn't think that I would like the assymetrical cord length, but after several hours of use, I now prefer that approach.
Great sound.......2007-12-22
The Good : These ear buds are very comfortable. They come with three different sized adapter foam pads. They sound great for an inexpensive set of earbuds. I have never listened to any of the higher end earbuds but with sound like this I don't see any need to.
The Bad : I typically use my iPod when I am doing yard work and these have a tendency of not staying in place and I have to adjust them often to keep equal volume and sound in each ear. I tried changing to the larger adapter foam pads but it didn't seem to make much difference. Sennheiser also makes a set of earbuds with a wrap around wire that holds them in place better. I would only recommend the CX300 for anyone who is going to use them while doing lower movement activities and the type with the wrap around wire for more physical activities.
Great sound! Not for everyone........2007-12-21
Could not maintain a good fit in my ears and they would fall out frequently. I do not want to trash the product because they do have a very nice sound. However, they do produce a "cable bounce" noise, which will not work well for runners. The other feature I did not like is the offset cable, which allows you to run one earbud cord behind the neck and keep your player in your left breast pocket. Nice idea, but I found it to be more of an inconvenience (personal preference).
Great earphones for the price.......2007-12-20
I just got these in the mail today and was pleasantly surprised when I hooked them up to my iPod. MUCH better and WAY more comfortable than the stock Apple earphones. I lucked out; the middle-sized rubber flanges fit my ears perfectly. I'm sure I could get better sound from expensive, over-the-ear headphones, but for my purposes (lightweight, portable, and sound-blocking) these are fantastic. I would say to anyone that you have to play with the EQ settings on your MP3 player if you have the option, as I found the bass on these to be SO good that I had to switch to a vocal-booster setting. All in all, these are great earphones for the money.
