Design
The impressive external screen is discrete and not apparent until a call, message or calendar event is displayed, while the Z610i's internal 176 x 220 color display supports over 260,000 colors for viewing crisp graphics and full-color photos. Other design features include an internal antenna, and a five-way button just above the dial pad that is used to control most of the phone's menus and features. Up/down buttons on the left side of the phone can be used for quick volume control. USB data and charging ports, as well as a headset port, are also provided.
Calling Features
A call list remembers your most recent missed, received and dialed calls, while the built-in speakerphone makes it easy to talk without having the phone to your ear. Polyphonic ringtones are included and there's even a bundled application that lets you mix your own ringtones. Picture caller ID lets you assign a photo to specific callers. Similarly, a ringer ID lets you assign ringtones to callers. For those times you want to keep things discreet, there's a vibrate ringer mode. And because the Z610i is Bluetooth-enabled, you can use a variety of headsets and handsfree kits for total wireless freedom when you're on the go.
Why not take advantage of the Z610i's fast 3G connection capabilities while making a phone call? The Z610i allows you to use more than just words--make a video call. During a call, you can switch between the video call camera and the main camera, allowing you to show the person with whom you're talking to see what you see.
Messaging, Internet, and Tools
The Z610i has all the bases covered when it comes to messaging. Support is built in for sending and receiving text, graphics and pictures and more via MMS messages. When used in combination with the phone's built-in camera, MMS opens up a whole new world of messaging fun.
Because the Z610i supports the GPRS data protocol, getting on the Internet is easy. When used with a carrier data plan and the phone's USB or Bluetooth data capability, the phone can be used as a wireless modem for laptops and PDAs. There's also a built-in browser for mobile web browsing. T9 text entry, a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built into the unit-- a plus for mobile email and text messaging users.
A number of handy software tools are bundled with the Z610i, including a voice memo recorder, a calculator, a calendar, a to-do list, and an alarm clock with a timer and stopwatch. Sony Ericsson Sync Station software lets you synchronize your Microsoft Outlook calendar, contacts, notes and tasks with your Z610i.

I bought this for for my daughter for graduation, no one else had it for sale, not even sony ericsson! She was going to settle for a differerent one and very disappointed. She was so excited. The phone works great and does support the 850 band width. If it didn't it would not work on our site. My network transmitts at 850. I had a phone that did not have the 850 and did not work on our network. This is a great looking phone!!
This phone is NOT GSM 850MHz.......2006-11-29
Be careful - Amazon identifies this phone as being GSM 850MHz. It is not. Read the 'Vital Statistics' section in the full write up and you will see no mention of 850MHz. Check the Sony web page (and other people who sell this phone) and you will see that it does not work on 850MHz.
I don't own this phone but was researching it for a friend when I discovered this discrepancy. I gave it 4 stars because of the cool Magic Mirror case - I have no idea if this phone is really good or not.
