I'm no audiophile, but I do love these headphones. They sound great, look awesome, and block a good bit of noise. I have a friend that owns some Pioneer HDJ1000s, and the Technics feel better and feel more durable. They also sound better in my opinion, but they weigh more than the Pioneers. I wore them so much for the first week that my head started to hurt, but that went away. I bought these because of their ability to change earphone jack chords and the 1/4 jack conversion. I can turn my sound up all the way on my ipod and they don't crackle. The only time they may sound bad is if you have a poor quality MP3. I take them all over the place, and they hold up. The chord also doesn't get in the way too much, and isn't longer than the one on my cheap sonys. Caution, your spiffy styled hair will be ruined every time you put them on, but when you're spinnin' on the decks or whatever it doesn't matter.
Good Sound, Mediocre Craftmanship.......2007-11-27
I purchased a pair of these 2 years ago after giving up on Sony 700's ( I was going through the sony's every 12-18 months). I read good things about these Technics, so I bit. I broke the first pair in 3 months, returned (even though out of warranty, I fought w/Panasonic and won) and broke the new replacement 3 months later. The sound is better than Sony, but durability at the joint is not good in my opinion. If you're kinder and gentler than me, buy these.
Perfect headphones for anyone who loves music........2007-11-24
These headphones are absolutely incredible. They recreate sound perfectly and I was able to hear new things in songs I had been listening to years thanks to these cans. They fit over my ears (and head) very easily and comfortably, which is one of the most important product specifications for me -- I am beginning to DJ and will be wearing these headphones in excess of 3-4 hours at a time, and they have yet to begin hurting my ears (which is a problem with most good quality headphones, they begin to hurt after too much use) but not with the DH1200.
Captures Your Musical World.......2007-11-01
Before talking about these headphones let me briefly say what opened my eyes to these.
My fav. DJ, Van Buuren, wears these during his sets and possibly in the studio. This is the guys who will travel to the ends of the earth to find the original 24 bit sound from the producer before using it at a club or on a compilation. He doesn't settle for the compressed 320kb Mp3 like most do. This guy CARES about sound, and his productions and compilations speak the truth. And I am the guy who can't settle for anything under 320kb Mp3, I actually use AAC 320kb which sounds slightly better. So why would AvB settle for something that can't capture the crisp, lushes sound of his music?
With that being said I tested these out. I originally had the Sony v700 phones but was a little disappointed with the highs. The lows were great, maybe a little too much bass, but decent quality sound. When I finally got my hands on these I was stunned that they were far superior!! Everything about these is WOW! The more you turn these things up the better it gets. The highs are crisp as can be and the lows are as accurate as they should be. Side by side these shamed the Sony's! Other than the outstanding sound the build quality is just amazing. There is rubber around the cans to protect it from breaking, the cord comes off, which is replaceable, and the headband is ALL leather. Not fabric underneath like the Sony's. The chrome look on the side as well as the look of a Technic's turntable makes other phones look dull. These also come with a black leather carrying pouch that actually fits the headphones and some. The Sony's come with this weak pearl looking bag that's way too small for both the phones and the cord; my cord was getting tangled.
So if you're looking for the ultimate headphones look no further. These things will be on your head forever.
Pros: Superior Sound, Sturdy, Style, Leather Caring Case, Detachable Cord.
Cons: If you have 128kb or 192kb songs you're going to notice the bad quality.
