The hard drive is pre-formatted and requires no drivers (a driver is included only for users with Windows 98 OS). In addition to supporting conventional operating systems such as Windows it supports Mac and even Linux. The drive's high capacity of 250GB allows easy back up of your entire system. It is equipped with on/off switch and with a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 interface offering extremely fast data transfer/manipulations as well as holding securely your large digital music, video and photo libraries at an affordable price. A good external hard drive.......2007-09-22

Overall this is a pretty good little external hard drive that's probably about as good as you're going to find in this price range. I had it working within minutes after getting it out of the box, and it works equally well with Ubuntu Linux and Windows XP. Pretty much all you have to do is plug it into an AC outlet, plug the USB cable into the computer, and turn it on. No installation of drivers is required unless you're using Windows 98. I also like that it has a nice, compact design and doesn't take up much space on my desktop.

If you need a little external hard drive to back up work, music, videos, or whatever else, this is a good choice.
