The Koss PortaPro collapsible stereophone combines high-quality sound reproduction with a unique design for the ultimate in convenience and comfort. These over-the-head headphones have a dynamic element design for deep bass performance and a frequency response of 15 to 25,000 Hz to ensure the music comes through clear and bright.
Also designed for comfort, these headphones have two adjustable temporal-comfort zone pads to shift the pressure and perfectly balance the ear plates on your ear. The open-earphone ear plates are multipivoting and, together with the adjustable headband, allow for maximum comfort.

Cheap substitute.......2007-12-22
I enjoyed these headphones many years ago, so I bought looking forward to my previous experience... Only look the same. Not nearly as comfortable nor durable as previous - cheap plastic broke dropping from 36" table to wood floor and they are no longer usable. PASS ON THIS ONE!
Just Buy Them!.......2007-12-20
It is not much I can add that has not been said, so I'll just say get these headphones and enjoy them. They sound fantastic and have the perfect balance of bass and treble. These are my favorite headphones along with the Sennheiser PX 100. Just buy them! You will not be disappointed.
Quality Sound - Lightweight - Comfortable .......2007-12-08
I recently purchased the Porta Pro headphones and I am very satisfied. I work as an engineer in an office, so listening to music on my headphones is the only escape I have from the surrounding BS.
I wear them for long periods of time working 10-14 hour days. The adjustable temple pads and lightweight design make them easy to wear all day without discomfort. I wear glasses and this is the first pair of headphones I've been able to wear all day without being irritated by them. They also have an acceptable sound quality with decent bass response for such a small light-weight pair of headphones.
Two minor complaints:
1) The plastic slide adjuster likes to take hair with it from time to time when I adjust them on my head. I'll let you know when it creates a bald spot.
2) When I get a phone call I used to always slide my headphones down on my kneck. These auto adjust - so when you slide them down on your kneck they auto adjust and are kind of tight and uncomfortable. I've had to get used to just taking them off when I get a call or interuption.
I recommend these headphone for sound quality and all day comfort.
Great Headphones for a Great Price.......2007-12-03
These headphones sound great for being only $33. The only thing I've found that I don't like about these headphones is when I walk into a strong headwind I can't hear my music... yeah, that's about it. Sometimes I imagine that there is static in the sound, but I just think I want to find something wrong with them.

Amazon just reminded me that I purchased these from Amazon in 2000.
These PortaPro's used to be THE standard as the most comfortable and best sounding headphones for portable, PC and casual listening. You can't go wrong at the price point.
On my Cowon IAudio U3 player (MUCH better audio, watts, than any crApple Ipus), where one can really hear the quality of audio. It has several audio formats that include the superior open source formats like the losless FLAC and the best lossy format, Ogg.
I listen to different types of music, classical, classic rock, blues, progressive, audio documentaries, audio books.
I am one that really loves to listen to music that is distortion free as possible. I love clear, clean sounds that are natural where you can really pick out all instruments, little nuances in harmonies. Where quietness, silence in a song, will be totally quiet.
I have that as good as the PortaPro's are, they give more of a distorted sound, especially with distortion at bass. I say this in compariason to Sennheiser Headphones and what I see as the best of breed, the Sennheiser PX100s.
Someone called them "livier" than the PX100s, where I totally understand what they are referring too. The "livier" part is why I gave them to me son. That is distortion, especially at bass. I don't like distortion or over amplification that creates distortion.
But if one prefers that heavier, distorted bass sound, which many do, these are the ones.
They are SOOO comfortable, but then again so are the PX100s.
I for one, couldn't care less what others think if they look cool, ugly, whatever. What is essential is the comfort and audio quality.
If someone is really bothered because they are NOT in a style that is not currently marketed, then I feel the issue is withe the individual, not the headphones.
They really are great and I see at 29.99, a great buy.
OR ... if you want, you can pay of $100, and get some heavily marketed headphones that are more stylist, but will be a more more uncomfortable and probably not sound as good as the PortaPros or the PX100s.
I also will tell you that I cannot stand the headphones that are made to drown out sound. For one, the headphones that do allow air SOUND BETTER. The headphones that totally cut out air and environmental sounds, literally give me a headache.
I too want to know if someone is trying to get my attention or if their is some kind of loud noise that I should be aware of.
