This HD runs great ! It is my third Maxtor external HD. It's a great product for the money. Love the design to. If You want great performance for reasonable price, this is the way to go.
Utter GARBAGE. Buyer beware!!!.......2006-08-17
I have had this drive for two months and three days. During that time I have done nothing unusual with it. It has stayed on my desk, which is cool and well-ventilated.
Several days ago I noticed that the drive was making a tad more noise than usual. Today I began having problems accessing many of my files; accessing certain files is incredibly slow, in some cases to the point that I can never open or transfer a file.
Thank God I had a backup of this drive. I will never purchase a Maxtor drive again. This is completely unacceptable. It's 2006; a hard drive should last more than 2 months.
Great value for money.......2006-06-20
I've had this drive for over a month now, and I must say it's a great value for money. Worked right out of the box with the included firewire cable (also comes with a USB 2.0 cable) as most drives do. Speed transfer seems good for such a large capacity drive. Sound is relatively quiet although slightly noticeable in a really quiet room (during data transfers). I don't use the included backup software as I use my own (SmartSync Pro). Only minor annoyance I've found is that most times when I reboot my PC (WinXP SP2 - Fujitsu Siemens Scaleo T) with the drive plugged in, it won't get detected until I unplug and then replug it. I didn't have any such problems with my Seagate firewire drive (200 GB) or an old Maxtor OneTouch II (200 GB). Other than that it's been fine so far and would highly recommend it.

refurbished iPod nano deal.......2007-06-28
I'm not sure what I think of my iPod nano yet. The promised delivery from Amazon was dead on. Amazon delivers when they say they will deliver. The nano did suffer a completely dead battery two days after it was delivered but I was able to get it traded out for another refurbished nano within an hour of walking into the Apple store. The replacement usually worns but hangs up and requires a reboot now and then. I'll take it back to the Apple story again and see what happens.

Overall this case was ok, but it was way too snug and partially covered the bottom of the click wheel. I was using with a 2nd Gen Nano so that might be the reason. I returned it and decided to go with the Core Cases Nano case instead, and I've never looked back.

BodyGlove will scratch your Nano.......2006-09-25
I got a Nano shortly after they came on the market. The "easily scratched" stories had already been around a little while and there should have been time for Apple to fix the problem. Just in case, I got a BodyGlove case to protect my new black Nano. That was a terrible mistake. Every bit of stitching on the inside of the front of the case has scratched my Nano horribly. I wish I had taken the case off earlier to make sure everything was fine. Absolutely stay away from this case!
