iMuff Bluetooth head phones.......2007-11-13
The product works as advertised. I can sync. the iMuffs to my cell phone while listening to music on my Ipod. The only thing I can complain about is switching between the phone and Ipod, there is a longer delay then expected. Otherwise this product works well and is a little pricey.
Not for running.......2007-09-03
I bought these hoping to run with them. They bounce around too much, and the music goes in and out. I also think it created some problems with my ipod. I sold them on ebay.
Some problems encountered.......2007-08-23
I purchased these last Dec. Sound good and comfortable though does not screen out any noise -- of course not designed to. Had much trouble figuring out how not to drain my iPod. If I followed their advice and just put the pod into sleep, it would be drained by the next day. Best was to turn off both the iPod and the headphones manually. Even with best management, you will only get about 5-6 hours of play from your pod.
After a few months, the LED blue light on my unit stopped working. Called them up, still under warranty so sent it back, insured, etc. They sent me a new one, though I had to call after 2 weeks as they still had not gotten to it. Most disappointing was that they insisted I had not sent back the charger with it, which I had. There was not a way to prove it other than that my shipment to them weighed 12 oz and was much too heavy for just the light weight iMuffs alone. So, they sent me back a new one but no charger. I can charge it from my computer through USB but this is limiting. They do not respond to my calls or emails about this. So. be careful. If you buy one and need repairs you may need a witness and pictures to prove to them you sent back all the parts. Bummer.
Later: Finally got a response from the company, after I had given up. Got an email, with apology, and a power unit sent out to me. Don't know what happened but was relieved to have a complete set.
Superb Quality & sound - the best money you'll spend.......2007-08-11
I can't be more pleased with these. I purchased teh Logitech ones last year but it was clunky and the plastic headphone piece soon broke. These are a little wobbly but I'm just so impressed overall and these are priceless. Give yourself a treat and enjoy!
Not good enough for the price.......2007-07-23
These headphones are OK but I have 2 main problems - the fit is poor and I have a hard time keeping them on my ears. Also, they cut out constantly. I think if you plan to sit still and use them it might be OK but I find them constantly cutting out when I am moving around trying to do yardwork, walk, ski, etc. Seem to have a conflict when they come near anything else electrical. Great idea, poor execution and quality.

Customer Reviews:
Barely Outta Beta.......2006-02-10
The web based customer service folks for I-Muff are very helpful and friendly. If good customer service along could make this product work, I would be satisfied. Unfortunatly, it can't.
These Muffs work either as a headset for the iPod or a headset for the phone, but have a terrible time switching between the two. Once on a call, the phone will not hang up and return to the iPod. I tried the i-Muffs with a Blackberry 7290. Maybe you will have beter luck with something else.
The headset has annoying and frequent drop outs from the iPod, even at a close distance. The headset is "open air" style and will not even blot out the sound from two people talking behind you on the bus.
Every day requires frequent reboots of the entire system. The first night I left the transmitter on the iPod as I charged it and woke up with a crashed iPod that had to be rebooted.
The chat site on the company's website says that an "improved" version will be released soon. It appears that this version is a "barely outta beta" version that just doesn't have all the bugs worked out.
Small, flimsy buttons. Fragile headset construction.
Seems like a reputable company that is attempting to release a decent product and just tried for too much too soon at too low a price. There is a market for a quality product that works without a hitch. How hard could that be?
Enjoyment without wires.......2006-01-19
I've been using the iMuffs for about 3 weeks now and am mostly pleased with them. The freedom that is given to the user by being wireless outweighs any of the suggestions I may have for a better product.
Pros:
Installation is a snap. Just be sure that if you have a case that the bluetooth transmitter can sit flush to the top of your iPod. [If that means you need to cut a piece of the case away so that it can, do it. Partial connection can lead to your iPod freezing.]
When in range you can; pause, stop, fast forward, reverse tracks and even turn off you iPod from the iMuffs.
The charging light is easy to see and understand; goes out when fully charged.
Bluetooth connection lights on the iMuffs and transmitter remain on, long enough for you to see that your connection has been made to enjoy your music.
Surprising sound quality. I noticed a little cloudiness in the softer parts of my tunes when I was a distance away from my iPod. Most of that I believe has to do with the 128 bit rate that Apple chooses to push as the download quality when buying from iTunes. My 160 or higher bit rate loaded songs sounded a tad more rich in the iMuffs.
Comfort. The frame seemed extremely flimsy and delicate when my iMuffs first arrived. After being very gingerly while putting them on, I have gotten used to placing them on my head without wrenching them. The frame that comes out of the top of the iMuffs doesn't seem to bother my ears at all. The oversize foam speaker covers are extremely comfortable.
Volume. You can really blast your ears but I wouldn't recommend it. The volume toggle is a triumph! And its placement on the iMuffs is intuitive.
Buttons. The size of the buttons only makes sense. Within a few minutes of using my iMuffs I was completely at home with the placement and use. Perfect.
Unfortunately since I live in the Wyoming rural wilderness there isn't much call for a bluetooth cell phone. Sorry. I would have liked to have been more thorough.
Cons
Transmitter. At times I had to unplug and reinstall the iPod transmitter and switch the iMuffs on and off to get the signal started. I tried to reproduce this problem the formula wasn't consistent. Sometimes I could do it from across the room other times I was holding both in front of me and it wouldn't connect.
Distance. When I first got my iMuffs they really pushed the envelope with distance, about 30 feet. Then as the battery on the iPod is drained the halo of signal shrinks considerably. Full charge on your iPod is optimal for proper sound, avoidance of signal break and dead spots in the music sent to the headphones and for longer usage and enjoyment. Yet again there were times when my iPod was not 2 feet away from me with the transmitter pointed my direction and the song would break up.
Power drain. The transmitter seems to continue to pull power from the iPod when it's turned off. I know that even the iPod does this [as was read in the instructions sent with the iPod] but it aggravates the power drain when the transmitter is installed. My suggestion to anyone planning to use iMuffs and has an iPod that is a year old with some good use, REPLACE your battery now. All of the function of the transmitter and quality of the music being sent to the iMuffs depends on the quality of the power supply. After using the iMuffs for 2 weeks I came to the conclusion that my iPod's battery wasn't up to the challenge.
Buttons. Got wet hands, sweaty hands, dirt on your fingers? Wipe them before you reach to change your music. If there was a thin membrane over the buttons that would help to keep muck from entering your iMuffs. Just a suggestion.
Frame. Is there some sort of policy for breakage? Because I'm sure with knuckle heads like me you're going to have iMuffs returned for sitting on them or something silly and the head frame busts. Might be nice to have a frame replacement cost up on the site in case that comes to pass with an iMuff owner.
All in all I was really pleased with the performance of the iMuffs. A couple of ticks really didn't keep me from using the hell out of these bad boys. Please take all of my criticism as constructive. I really do love my iMuffs. I would love for them to evolve into a must have for anyone who owns an iPod or mp3 player.
