The Sennheiser HD-595 Premier Headphones utilize E.A.R. technology to enable ideal sound and a compressed cellulose fleece to reduce total harmonic distortion. Duofol diaphragms deliver high-resolution to your sounds, and the lightweight aluminum voice coils efficiently transmit sound with excellent dynamics. The diaphragms are designed with a geometry that cuts down on intermodulatory distortion, and the high-quality leatherette headband gives comfort for your head. The 6.3mm stereo jack and 3.5mm adapter are both gold-plated for first-class connectivity, and the 10-foot cable gives you plenty of flexibility along with a wide range of motion. The included headphones holder can be mounted horizontally or vertically. These headphones are backed by a two-year warranty.

Not an audiophile, but these sound better and are more comfortable than Bose QC2, Audio-Technica noise reduction (my favs for travel), Sennheiser PX, and the Etymotic in ears that I've tried.
Open design definitely makes it easy to hear ambient noise (and for others to hear your headphones), but the air makes them cool to wear for long periods. Very comfortable.

Awesome sound quality and fit.......2007-12-19
I bought the Sennheiser HD-595 because I needed a comfortable pair of headphones that I could wear all day without feeling any discomfort. Soundquality is also very important to me, so I use a BitHead headphone amp made by Headroom to drive them. This isn't really necessary, as they are easily driven by an MP3 player or a computer, but I feel like I'm getting more. My only other pair of headphones are the Etymotic ER-4S, which I use when I'm on the move (exercising, traveling, etc.)
At home I want superior quality and comfort and the Sennheiser's deliver in full on both counts. They are comfortable to wear all day. I sit with them for around 10 - 12 hours per day and get no discomfort from them. The sound quality is also beyond anything else I've encountered before. I listen to a wide range of music from Heavy and Black Metal to Classical Music and no matter the genre, the cans deliver crisp sound that's spot on.
Comfortable and sound great.......2007-12-14
These headphones sound more "present" than the Beyerdyamic 770, for instance. These headphones are now my favorite as to sound quality. One objection regarding comfort is that the curve in the band is too shallow, so rather than hugging the head, the band mostly touches just the top of the head, which is not optimally comfortable. BTW, if anyone who gets these headphones wants to part with the nifty headphone holder, please let me know.
Phenomenal Headphones.......2007-12-11
These headphones are phenomenal. The sound quality is excellent, there is nothing out there that's better for the price.
The only downside is the bulky jack, it makes it difficult to plug into tight places. In reality they should have just made it a smaller jack with a large jack adapter.
Other than that .. no complaints at all.

First of all, i want to say, this is the best headphone ive ever used that doesnt require an amp. At first you might think, what's the big difference between 20$ and this 170$?
Well, there is big difference and it's a life changer. When you realized all along in your life, what you're listening is actually not what is intended, you get pissed off. When you put on this headphone, the same song you listen with the 20$ is tottally different with this hd595. It will literally blow you away, that why i used the term "life changer". This applies to true music lover only because those are the poeple who actually cares about the quality of music that is going through your ears, like myself, that why i recommend this headphone.
Because this soundcard to so detailed, bad onboard soundcard might produce some sound glitches. Therefore, I recommend everyone who gets this headphone to get a good sound card to bring out the full potential of this headphone.
