I've had this handy little guy for over a year, and it's performed flawlessly. I have no complaints at all!
It transfers files quickly, runs quietly and has never lost any of my data. Plus, its small size and the fact that it doesn't require a bulky power cable make it ideal for traveling. I've used it to watch movies on long plane flights, and it works like a charm. It also transfers from PC (using XP) to Mac (using Tiger) without any troubles. In short, it is everything I wanted it to be and more!

For the money, this drive is very compact and handy. It worked perfectly for backing up our old files for transfering to our new computer. I think I will start backing up our old photos on this drive rather than on CD's. Has built in software if the drivers are needed. Great little product.

Very Good Hard Drive. Just plug it in the USB and 60 GB Hard Drive. It is also very slim and sleek. Works well and fast too. I have been able to run programs on it instead of just storage.

Product came quickly, works great with no problems. I would suggest investing in a protective case for it, though, because the plastic coating scratches easily.

I was looking for a backup harddrive. This one is easy to use and works out of the box. The design is nice, very modern with a glossy varnish. It's small enough that you can carry it around in case you want to share information with somebody but you don't want to take your notebook with you. Perfekt!

This is the second Passport drive bought at BustBuy at their sale that has just stopped being recognized by either my Mac or PC. I'll get them all set up for either my photos (first drive to go) or my music (the one that stopped working last night) and it'll work fine for a few days.... then kabooom. no drive. Just doesn't show up as being connected. I've been super careful to use the safely remove hardware on the PC and to eject the disc properly on the mac.
Just thought I'd point out that the drives were both 160gb usb drives.

I don't have much experience with External Hard Drives, in fact that is the first one I own. But it seemed very good, no instalation required, uses energy from the USB, it is very small and light and it has a very nice transfer rate, around 1Gb/min or more. For me, 60Gb its pretty decent amount of info for u to carry in your pocket. I totally recomend.
I used it in a PC and a MacBook and had no problem.

I RECOMMEND THIS TO ANYONE who needs a disk drive for backups. I built my own backup disk a number of years ago using spare parts and it finally quit. This is exactly what I needed. I plugged it in and it works perfectly. I use it for my system backups using Microsoft OneCare. Also, read the manual before you do anything. It explains some of the features that have been critized in previous reviews.

I bought this after the hard drive in my laptop crashed and I almost lost everything! Now I use this external and 1 or 2 times a week I sync it with my laptop just in case! It could not have been easier to use. I just plugged it in, hit the key and bam, it did it's thing!
I recommend this to anyone who has a laptop, and please don't suffer from the "it cannot happen to me", cuz it can......

I purchased this drive a little over a month ago. It worked fine until a couple of days ago. I plugged it in and then nothing. My laptop (and another computer I tried it on) won't recognize/read the drive. I wrote WD tech services and didn't receive a reply in the 1-2 business days as promised on the site. I called WD customer service and the only solution they offered me is drive replacement. I saved over 60GB of information (including many important files that I cannot replace) on this drive, with full confidence that it would last me at least a couple of years. I contacted the data recovery partners WD has on their site and was quoted $500-$3500 to recover my data. If I could afford that, I would have purchased a more expensive hard drive in the first place. Now my only option according to WD customer service is to accept a replacement drive and lose all of my data. I am completely dissatisfied with this solution. I don't understand why they won't check to see if the drive can be repaired, especially when they say on their site that many of the drives they receive for replacement are not defective and could have been repaired with a simple solution. I don't recommend buying this product!
