Very good TV, for a great price!.......2007-12-26

I looked at numerous big box stores and couldn't come close to the deal I received on this TV. I was nervous about buying a TV online but the process has been great so far. No issues with shipping or receiving the product.

Hard to beat for the $$$.......2007-12-25

I finally decided to jump on the HD bandwagon and decided to do it with this TV set, thus far, no regrets. For the money, you can't get a better picture on an LCD television set and even rivals some more expensive models. The newer Samsung's are a bit better but they will set you back an additional $1000 (or more for the LED back-lit models)

The response time on the panel is excellent, I have no problems playing any type of video games on it. Watching football in HD is a treat to say the least.

I only wish I could have gotten a 64 series which is significantly thinner than 62 series. It only has 2 HDMI inputs and does not have a PC input, this too has been addressed with the 64 series which comes with 3 HDMI inputs and a PC input.

If you're going to buy an HDTV, especially one similar or larger sizes, you'd be doing yourself a dis-service by not investing in a surround sound system. The audio is pretty lacking in most flat panel displays and this is no exception. Even the most inexpensive 5.1 systems will sound much better than what the TV comes with, it really does add a whole new dimension to your viewing experience.

An excellent all around LCD TV.......2007-11-28

I bought this TV back in January from CircuitCity. I was looking at a couple of LCD TVs (I am not a big fan of Plasma) and this had great reviews and from looking at it side by side in CircuitCity it had better picture quality than most other LCD Tvs around. Watching Blu-ray movies and playing PS3 in full 1080p has been a pleasure ever since.

Pros:

The auto-dimming of the backlight is great. It senses the ambient light in the room and adjusts accordingly. This makes it a pleasure to watch during the day in bright sunlight as well as in the middle of the night.

The sound quality has been great. Several people have made comments on how great the TV's speakers sound while watching movies. However recently I purchased a 7.1 surround sound system however and I no longer use the TV speakers. (The improvement is dramatic and if you're planning to go truly HD you should invest in a good sound system. But I digress.)

The remote control for this TV plays nicely with my Comcast 3-in-1 universal remote. It even allows me to switch inputs from the Comcast universal remote (which I wasn't expecting but was pleasantly surprised to find that it works).

The 4ms response time makes it ideal for playing games.

Plenty of inputs. I've been able to connect my PS3, XBOX 360 (via 1080p component), WII and Cable Box with room to spare.

I really like the design of the TV, it nicely complements the rest of my equipment in the living room. I bet it would look even better wall mounted but I haven't done so yet.

Can be connected to a computer with DVI easily. All you need is an HDMI to DVI cable (this will send video but not audio). Unfortunately regular text is hard to read from far away (but if you place a chair a bit closer you can easily surf the web or send emails).

Cons:

This TV features 2 HDMI ports which has worked out great for me so far (1 for my cable box, the other for the PS3) but if you have more HDMI devices this could be a problem. You can however invest in an HDMI switcher or an audio-video receiver with HDMI inputs.

One of the thing that annoys me the most (and perhaps there is a setting to turn it off but I've been lazy) is the auto shut-off feature. If you don't press any buttons for something like 4 hours the TV will shut off (conveniently a notice comes up 5 minutes before). While watching TV it was never a problem as I was always adjusting the volume up and down but I find that this interrupts long sessions of PS3 playing.

When setting up the various inputs I couldn't assign proper names. The TV can support various names for each of the inputs but the names have to be picked from a predefined list (which has things like CABLE, HDMI, etc) but I wasn't able to properly name the connections to my gaming consoles. I wish it offered either more choices or a way to type the actual desired name. This hasn't been a problem after a while, but at first it takes some getting used to remembering if INPUT1 or INPUT3 is the one for your WII.

Only if you like to gamble.......2007-11-24

I got this product at circuit city after staying in line at 3:30 AM before the store opened.
Well I was in for a big suprise. Let me first say that the picture quality is pretty good, probabley because of the better contrast and black levels. However the speakers of this unit were DEAD right of the box!!
My brothers and I (all doctors ) spend 2 hour on this thing trying to bring in the sound to life, with no success. So i am taking this thing back to exchange it. So much time wasted...
Unfortunately Sharp's quality control is mediocare so that's what you get.

Great LCD TV.......2007-11-11

I purchased this set from Tiger Direct 2 weeks ago and received it a week later. Let me tell you that TV set is SUPERB! No banding issue yet that I have experienced. I bought HD TV antenna for 49.00 dollars and received all locals free with outstanding HD picture quality....better than sat or cable..
I recommed this tv and give it 9/10.
