Double Flange Mod.......2007-07-25
Out of the box this is an overkill for my ear canal.
What works best for me in terms, of sound isolation, sound quality, and comfort
is to shorten the length of this sleeve at the bottom as well as convert this into a
Double Flange Sleeve.
This is what I do:
The first step is cut and eliminate the top flange
flush at the top of the second flange with a sharp knife.
The second step is to flip the bottom flangue inside out to shorten
the shaft below the bottom flange with a sharp knife so the entire shaft
of the sleeve is about the length of the earbud's shaft.
For those unhappy with the price of the PA755
I haven't tried this but there is a 3 pair tripple flangue by shure: product EA306
which seems to be very similar to the PA755 and less than the price of one
pair of PA755
There is another Mod I will try later, I will leave all three flanges intact
but I will cut the entire shaft below the bottom flange flush with the bottom flange

I'm using these triple-flange sleeves with the e2c's, even though officially they are not compatible (according to Shure). They fit tightly onto the nozzles of the e2c's buds, but they do fit if you carefully slip them on, and make sure they don't tear.
Quality-wise, these sleeves work well, and are definitely easier to put in and are more comfortable than the foam sleeves or rubber tips, though I feel that the foams give better isolation. The foams are reusable only to a certain extent, however (they start to deform and harden within weeks), while these triple-flanges should last as long as you keep them clean and prevent them from ripping (latex is durable enough). I've been using them for about 2 weeks now without any problems, and am definitely glad I ordered a pair. I do have one complaint, though, and that is that (like another customer mentioned) these are a bit overpriced for a single pair of small likely mass-produced latex sleeves. I'll consider it worth it, though, if they last through the year.
Cliffs: An excellent replacement for the sleeves that come with Shure canalphones, but they should be cheaper.
FOAM > Triple-Flange but only by 5-10%.......2007-01-23
Firt off I want to say that I love the triple-flanges in terms of sound and comfort. The Foam inserts are a little more comfortable and isolate a little better (note better as in 10% better not twice as good or anything). However I'm sick of having to replace the foams every 2 weeks or so esp. since they cost like 2-3 bucks a pair! After a week they start to get stiff and yucky and completely loose the awesome fit and isolation. Trading away 10% of the comfort and 5-10% of the isolation is totally worth the hassle and cost of replacing the foams (if Shure or someone else sold the foams for a reasonable price things would be different). The sound quality is excellent with the triple-flanges since they isolate so much better than the grey inserts that come with the e3cs. The bass especially is excellent due to the nice tight fit. TIP: I shortened these long sleeves by cutting off the tube from the end end that goes on the e3c earphone's nozzle. I cut them off uptil the botton of the last (biggest) flange. I found the bass to be improved a little when I did this probably due to the reduced distance from drivers to ear-drums and now I can wear my ear warmers again without feeling like q-tips were being driven into my ear! :) Recommend it if youre sick of the foam's cost and durability.

I've been using them at night, on airplanes.. These made the difference between me not really liking my headphones very much and really loving them. They block out sound better than most ear plugs and stay in my ears. Great!

I have only minor complaints about the Samsung in the week I have had it. One minor issue: letter boxed 4/3 are framed on all four sides and, if you use zoom1 it cuts off some of the bottom lines (half a line of subtitles). Another: the control should have a direct access button to each input instead of a source toggle for programming of AV remotes. But the picture is excellent and the ATSC receiver picks up more channels than any HD receiver I have used before. Amazon's price is, also excellent. But Eagle USA shipping is another matter:
Eagle USA delivered the Samsung HLT5676S to my residence on Saturday, December 1 at Noon. I had planned to have a TV stand made which, unfortunately, was delayed so I arranged to support the TV with a piece of plywood and 3 substantial pieces of black granite left over from prior construction projects. Though I am nearly 60 I brought the first piece of granite into my house unaided but, seeing the strain involved, my wife helped me carry in the other two pieces from the garage. Since my wife is much smaller than I am I chose to walk backwards up the two steps from my garage to the kitchen of our house. While we were bringing in the last slab of granite Eagle arrived and I tripped backward over the top step & the granite fell on my belly. The delivery employees came to where I was and my wife asked if they could help me. Rather than asking if I was hurt, or even offering to help me up, they simply stared and said that their company's rules prohibited them from doing this. Is that so? Is Eagle USA so inhumane that it instructs its employees to ignore someone who may be hurt and offer no help to someone who has fallen? I think the fear of liability has created a completely inhumane treatment of customers which I abhor. We are human beings first. If two young men do not have the common decency to go to the aid of a 59 year old man who had fallen on his back with a slab of granite on his stomach what have we come to? Perhaps, if there is liability it should be for inaction. What if I had been seriously hurt and their help would have ameliorated the problem. Might I not have a case against Eagle for reckless disregard of human life? But in the final analysis insurance should not be the determining factor. If they haven't the common decency to help another human being in trouble and think that's what their corporation is expects then Amazon should get rid of them.
Jumping picture and weird sound.......2007-12-03
I ordered one of these through Amazon - it arrived quickly and I was really impressed. It looked great - but the picture didn't. When I walked around in the room (it's on a solid stand) the whole picture shaked. And when changing channels the tv made a nasty clunking noise. Clearly, a lemon. Called Amazon - they were terrific and replaced it. Second one arrived. Same problem. Another lemon? Or is there something not right with this TV? I'm going with the slim one now. I hear they're great and the picture stays where it's suppose to be.

This is a great unit, we are very pleased with it. Every expectation you have for a big-ticket TV is met by the Samsung. It also has all of the connectivity flexibility you need. I was concerned after reading somewhere that the line-out audio jacks would not work if you were using HDMI sourcing. That's no longer true. I run my audio through a Bose LifeStyle system that decodes Dolby digital from the line jacks if the signal is present - works great. The following is my story, why would anyone buy a unit like this online?
The last place I would have looked for a large screen (expensive)TV was online. I just went there to get the reviews, I knew I wanted a DLP system and wanted to see what others had to say. Samsung reviews were about as good as you could get without paying someone to write them.
Of course once having read the reviews I had to get a general idea of pricing. I looked at all of the known big box stores and found them to be within a few dollars (suprise)of each other. I did see an ad for the Samsung for Amazon and since I have been satisfied with small purchases I have made from them over a long period of time I decided to check it out.
WOW! What a pricing difference. So I made a decision to buy from them. The unit shipped when they said it would, the carrier brought it out on the day they said they would and the delivery people brought it inside, unpacked it, made sure it was undamaged, placed it where I wanted it and hauled away all of the packaging. Now this may only have been my experience, but it was a very good experience.

The Silk Screen Effect was way too distracting for me. I just can't justify spending this much money on a television and having everything look like I'm watching it through a piece of silk that covers the screen. 1080P and my Blu Rays don't look nearly as crisp when the screen has a visual distraction.
I'm not saying the tv is awful, but for my money plasma is 10x better...even if I have to buy a 50 inch for the same price.(Check out the Panny 50PX77U. It has an AMAZING PICTURE.)
Don't let the Big Box stores fool you with this tv. This Samsung looks GREAT at BB. No Silk Screen at all.
