WOW... that sums it up! These are incredible! They are a little uncomfterable at first, but after a few days they fit like a glove. The VMSS really lets you expirence bass like never before. Just remember to turn them off when your not using them, or you'll go through batteries real fast@

This is my second set of Brainshaker headphones. The original ones came with a Panasonic VMSS player. The main reason for buying is the unique base: you get a feeling that it's there, but you don't get a headache from the actual sound.
A few users mentioned that these headphones cause pain... That's true: In my case it was for about two weeks. Headphones will not align with your head right out of the box. While flexible plastic component of headphones adjusts to your head, you may experience some pain in ears and neck. Once it aligns, you don't know they are there.
On the upside, I noticed that unless you yank on the cord, nothing will shake them off your head, at least when you're not using soft ear buds.
Downside of these headphones... battery unit which is pretty heavy, although uses cheap AA batteries; quality of materials and assembly... treat these headphones with care. They do not like the abuse, and that includes the wire.
Pros: unique sound... for me that was enough to buy the second set.
Cons: takes some painful time to get used to; not too durable; battery unit is a bit too heavy: you have to find a place to clip it to.
P.S.
I hope one day Panasonic will release a VMSS compatible MP3 player.

I bought these from Sears... sorry Amazon but it only made me more embittered towards Sears. While it is pretty cool to have the bass throbbing on the back of your neck the novelty soon wears off due to the thin padding in ear plugs and almost angular/sharp seams in the headphones that seem to dig into your ears through the foam. After 1/2 hour they become very uncomfortable as they cut into your ears and pull on your ears as the weighty back end sags on the back of your neck. Do not wear them for more than an hour... I will repeat that. DO NOT WEAR THEM FOR MORE THEN AN HOUR. You may think that you can cope with the discomfert but you soon find your self in great amounts of pain as your ears are raw, red, sore, and it almost feels like you got paper cuts in both ears. They may sound good and be fun for 15 minutes but headphones should be able to be used for more than 1/2 an hour without causing pain. Do not get these headphones I don't care how much of a bass junky you are they aren't worth it. I do however suggest getting a pair of Evergreen RumbleFX headphones from their site rumblefx.com
The Evergreen's sound great and have the comfortable cups on either side with lots of padding and noticeable bass from both the cups and tactile vibration at the same time. Plus their the same price.
In closing do your self a favor and DO NOT GET Brain Shakers
unless you enjoy the idea of inserting a flesh eating earwig into your ears while putting the back of your neck to a PS2 controller with the rumble function... I'm ranting.
just get the Rumble FX's instead and you'll be much happier.

i love these headphones they are perfect for you if you love to literally feel the base. the only downside for me is that i lost the foam that covers the earphone part, but besides that these headphones are the best!!!!

I was excited about the concept. I still am, but these are A total miss for a company that I buy many things from. I have other Panasonic headphones that have worked great for many years. These pull down and back on my ears till I quit trying to use them because of the pain. They will not stay in your ears,unless you use both hands to hold them in, then they sound ok. I was totally disappointed in the magnetic----so called shaker system. It won't stay against the back of my head without holding it there and I think shaker is to much credit to give this weak system. The cord--volume box is worthless, It just felt "on and weak, or off." I guess if you duct taped these tight against your head, you would get A little bit of what I was expecting...Panasonic has always been a leader, this has really surprised me.(1) They need A total different way to wear them. (2) They need a much stronger magnet system--"lets really shake it up, or change the name". (3) They need a real volume control (4)They have to fit the ears-- so we can have a hands free system. They are nothing but junk, and I have seen better quality with Panasonic than in Sony products more times than not over the past 25+ years. I think they all let junk get past them, but not very often with Panasonic and Sony. They should be ashamed of these, they build great things -- and I hope they recall-----and do these in the quality that they are known for. Mistakes like this cause companys to loose many customers for life. I know this is an oversight -- I have two belt carry Panasonic disc and cassette players with Panasonic headsets and they are totally perfect...I want Panasonic to get these back, and realize what they did...I think Amazon needs to start listening to customer complaints, with the customers well being as their number one goal.

The compactness of these speakers is very nice. It's also nice that they don't require batteries. Unfortunately, this prevents them from being very loud. I was hoping to use them while bicycling, but they're completely inaudible in that environment. The chord is also very short, which helps with the mobility of the speakers (the chord folds into the speakers for transport), but makes them impractical for many purposes.
If you just want some portable speakers to use on a table or desk near you, these are a good buy. The sound quality isn't great, but it's decent. If you plan on using the speakers in a car or outside environment, look elsewhere to a battery-powered unit.

I bought the Arkon CM209 for $13.95 plus shipping from mfx2 (an Amazon Marketplace merchant).
The claim shell design protects the speakers when closed and a custom-fit pouch/bag is provided.
No batteries are needed.
The Line-in connector wire neatly wraps around the speakers in a shallow groove and the end of it fits nicely on the inside of the speaker case and will not dangle or get caught on anything when the speakers are closed.
These features make the unit great for travel.
The exterior is white with Arkon written on the side. The interior (speakers) are black.
Since batteries are not used I don't need to pack any or worry the batteries will go dead. There is a trade-off to this feature. The volume is adjusted using the mp3 player's volume control. In a hotel room, cubicle, or any "personal space", with mp3 player's volume at maximum, the sound is adequate and the neighbors will definitely not be bothered. In a large room or noisy environment (like in a car), the volume would be too faint to hear.

Audiophiles will find these speakers vile. But desk jockeys will find them convenient: you'll never put the phone receiver to your ear only to bump up against your earbuds. The downside: these speakers won't bother others within earshot, because the volume is so low. But if you just want a set of speakers to keep in your desk drawer, just in case -- these are great for the price.

Excellent product! I was glad to read about the warning regarding narrow Kitchen cabinets. With a little engenuity, you can still mount on the narrower kitchen cabinets as was necessary for me. You can either submount on a subplate which will project the TV slighly further out from the wall or build into the wall a small cavity (such as an electrical gang box) to accomodate/house the connecting wires.

My husband bought this same model for me and installed it for Mother's Day. It is exactly perfect for me in the kitchen. I can listen to my favorite talk radio or music DVD,watch OPRAH while I'm chopping up the veggies. It has great sound & color quality for watching your fav movie. It took my husband a little longer to install it b/c we had to mount it on an angled corner cabinet where there would be enough space for the LCD-TV monitor to swing down. He bought a refurbished unit and I have had no problems with it. We initially bought a cheap ($150) look alike @wal-mart-but the DVD player was broke and it was returned. My husband went right to Amazon, purchased this SONY and within a few days I was a Happy girl!

I love virtually everything about this product. If I am at home, I have it tuned to a local music/news TV station constantly. The sound quality and picture are terrific.
As for installation...I am a 75 year old lady and installing it under my cabinet took all of 25 minutes with no problem.
Based on my experience, my son bought the same TV. He was able to instal his in less than 30 minutes while taking care of his two small kids.
We're not sure what everyone's issue with installation was.
