HDMI is a lossless, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface to link any audio/video source (such as a set-top box, DVD player, or AV receiver) with your TV--all over a single cable. HDMI supports standard, enhanced or high definition video, plus multi-channel digital audio on a single cable. It supports all ATSC formats--standard (SDTV), enhanced (EDTV), and high (HDTV).
Component video (also called Y/Pb/Pr) features a three-jack video input, which provides separate connections for luminance (Y), blue color difference (PB) and red color difference (PR). This results in increased bandwidth for color information, resulting in a more accurate picture with clearer color reproduction and less bleeding than you would get with S-Video or composite (RCA yellow video plug) connections. You will need a separate RCA left/right audio cable for sound.

A sharp high definition television.......2007-12-14
I got this TV after my parents were moving and were going to to upgrade to a larger tv. I have had no problems for the 6 months that I have had it in my possession. It does look sleek and modern and fits well in my house. The sound is great, the picture is high quality, and it is the perfect size for me. I don't have it hooked up to HD cable and I have it hooked just to cable right now. The picture is still high quality. I would highly recommend this model.
Very Nice.......2007-05-21
I purchased this tv about a year ago at best buy. It still amazes me. The picture is outstanding, and this is just on regular cable not HD. Although with the built in tuner I receive about 10 digital channels, and 4-5 of those being HD. You almost hate to go back to regular tv, once you've watched the HD channels. Just outstanding picture quality. My sis has a samsung flat panel and this is way better in my opinion. Hers is very grainy, and any black color shows up as green. The picture on the Aquos is very smooth, but still vivid, and the black is as rich as you're going to get on a LCD. (Generally LCD's have trouble showing black, plasmas are better...however plasmas have problems with red so I'm told...and they're way more expensive.) There's also no glare from light sources on the screen...whether sunlight or lamps.
The sound is great especially if you're using this in a medium to small room. Has built in surround, which is nice since I'm using it in my bedroom.
The tv itself is also very pleasing to the eye, the mirrored black finish is superb, and is an attention grabber.
The one negative as some have said is the lag between channels. However, I consider this a rather small downside for all you get, and I generally know what channels I want to watch so it didnt affect my rating.
I'm not partial to any company, I go with whatever suits my interest and looks the best. I would advise doing the same, even if you plan on purchasing a tv from here. Go to the stores and check them out. Hope this helped somehwhat.
Sharp Aquos 26" LCD TV.......2007-05-17
Nice TV for the money. The only complaint is the lag when switching channels. It is very slow to produce a picture on the new channel. The tuner automatically picked up HD over the air channels which is great. It also picked up many digital audio only channels. So far we are pleased, no complaints.
One major drawback; one minor one........2007-05-09
I have owned this television for about 6 months. In most respects, it is perfect. It looks great from the outside. And, the picture is better than my friends' pictures (Samsung, Toshiba, Sony). There are, however, some drawbacks.
1) Major drawback - which applies in limited situations. Without a cable box, this television TAKES FOREVER TO SWITCH CHANNELS. This is not a joke. My roommate has a 42" Toshiba LCD. Switching channels is as easy as pressing a button, without a cable box. On the Sharp Aquos LC26D40U, switching channels is a 3 second process at minimum. Just pressing "up" to the next channel takes 3 seconds for the picture to appear. If you have to type in the channel manually (eg. "131.001") it will take about 5 seconds for the channel to appear. This may not seem like a big deal, but imagine if you just want to channel surf - it's very frustrating.
2) Minor drawback - THE REMOTE IS HUGE. Seriously. It's about 10"-12" long. There's no room for coffee on my coffee table.
Sleek, Black, More Like Furniture Than A Monitor..........2007-03-26
Bought it for the appearance - sleek shiny piano black finish - and performance - high refresh rate, brightness, etc. (Note: Bought it from Amazon after seeing it in a chain store and a getting bait-and-switch two step from the sales help there. Ordered from Amazon - more or less same price - and had it two days later on regular no-charge shipping. Don't screw around, buy from Amazon, a class act.) Looks great, works great!
Some minuses: Occasional blurring on quick action scenes in analog. (And NOT in HD.) Also it would be nice if the zoom was scalable.
Other than that, no complaints, and yeah, I'd buy another, and I WOULD buy it from Amazon.
