This set has a built-in analog/digital/digital cable tuners (NTSC/ATSC/QAM) that will receive free over-the-air HDTV signals (ATSC) and HDTV signals from a cable connection (QAM). The 3D Y/C digital comb filter (4 MB, 10-Bit) constantly analyzes the three dimensions of picture height, picture width, and picture changes-over-time, to reduce dramatically edge image artifacts while improving transition detail.
The TheaterNet Control System simplifies the control of external components through both an IR jack and Firewire (IEEE1394) port, the latter of which can be used to transmit digital video and audio and allow for recording of HDTV. This set also includes a built-in OmniViewer memory card slot, which is compatible with a wide variety of popular formats--Secure Digital (SD), MultiMedia (MMC), Memory Stick, Compact Flash, and Smart Media--enabling you to view photo slideshows directly from your digital camera's memory card.

I bought this TV on Black Friday in '05 and got an awesome deal, so I thought. Little did I know that only two months later, the nightmare with Toshiba would begin. I'm currently (4/07) working on getting rid of the second one of these TVs, b/c the first one had to be replaced with the second hunk of junk I'm working on getting rid of now. I've spent countless hours fighting with Toshiba about them sending me a new lamp unit, then getting the TV serviced, then getting the TV swaped for new one, then getting a new lamp unit, then getting it serviced, then getting it serviced again, . . . you get it. This is BY FAR the worst experience I've had with a company and the biggest waste of time and money. I will NEVER buy a Toshiba product again and strongly discourage you from doing so either.

I have had this television since nov of '05. I replaced my first lamp after about 2 months. The second bulb lasted a year (hooray) but these bulbs cost $300 a piece. Not good. Please, do your research, and do not buy this televison. I regret it everyday.

I bought mine on Black Friday 2005 and after 12 months it is still going strong! So far it has been my best TV.
Update.. I had to replace the bulb in Fall 07 but otherwise it has been a great TV for the money.

as did many others, i bought mine on black friday 2005. So far no problems with the bulb. Anyone know who i am supposed to call when it does go out?? It has turned off on us a couple of times while watching something. Kind of weird. But thats it. Picture nice and nice inputs in back.
WORST MONEY IVE EVER SPENT.......2006-07-13
i baught this tv on january of 2006,i purchased it from a local dealer and paid 2,500.00 with the stand,i was told if you buy from the dealer that you get a better product then if you buy from a big chain store like best buy or curcuit city (SO I WAS TOLD FROM THE DEALER)they claim that the tv companies put better parts in the dealers tv and cheaper parts in the chain store tvs.i could of got it for 1,800.00 at curcuit city,but i always say ,you get what you pay for,,WELL in this case i found out the hard way,,i paid 700.00 more for mine and in the 6 months i had it the bulb blew out and now the picture engine is going out,,if your getting shadows and bad color on your picture,,thats what it is,,a bad picture engine,,anyway the repair man told me the pic engine cost 1,500.00 and thank god im still under warranty,,so he went to order my engine and 2 weeks went by and the repair guy called and said toshiba wont send him the part unless he orders it from my house while hes there to work on it.(WHAT A CROCK FROM TOSHIBA).so he comes to my house to order it and toshiba says they are back ordered on it for 1 month.i still havent got it fixed yet and im still waiting .the picture is so bad you cant see backrounds or sometimes peoples faces and any dark seens,,well forget it,,im also now getting white flickering that looks like lighting in the back round.the bad part is i wasnt offered a extended warranty but i can buy one for 650.00 for 3 years from toshiba and that doesnt include a new bulb if it blows again..so please buy the warranty if you get offered one at best buy or curcuit city,,you will need it on this tv set.when the tv is working good,,it does have a great picture and xbox looks great,,but i havent been able to enjoy the tv do to all the problems and TOSHIBA SHAME ON YOU AND YOUR EMPLOYEES,,BIG NAME BUT PRODUCE JUNK,,i think ill go back to buying cheap brands and get better products and service,,,dont buy this tv if your thinking about it and if you own one WELL,GOOD LUCK,,,NEVER AGAIN TOSHIBA!!!!!!!!!!!
