May not be perfect but they are real close........2003-11-20
I was on a road trip to New York 2 years ago and I was listening to music the whole way and I had this crappy pair of bud headphones that where annoying the hell out of me the whole trip. So once I got to the city I threw them out and bought these headphones. I must say these headphones blew me away, they where the best sounding headphones I had ever used. What's even more amazing then that though is the fact that they lasted me from then till now. Needless to say they are really busted up and the cord is fraying badly, but thats to be expected after 2 years of my punishment. And by punishment I mean being thrown around, falling on the floor contantly, sitting in my bookbag for weeks at a time, and being chewed on by my dog .. twice. The only problems I have with these is that they do not lay flat on your ear so sound tends to excape, and after wearing them for an hour your ears get a little sore, but its not to bad, over all they are pretty comfortable and I even wear glasses and they are fine. I highly recommend them for anyone who wants good sounding headphones that will last them a while.
MDRQ33LP Open Air W.EAR Headphones.......2003-08-09
I bought these to use with my MP-3 player. I needed a set of headphones that would not fall off while running at the track. The construction of the headphones make for a good fit around the ear (I had first tried another pair that would not stay on my ears).
My only complaint is about volume. With the MP-3, the music is not loud enough even at highest volume. When I hold the phones closer to my ear the sound is improved, but of course that is not feasible during a workout. I would say part of the problem lies with the MP-3 player because when I use these phones with my laptop and with my walkman, the sound is perfect.
Magnifique =).......2003-07-02
These are the best headphones I have ever used. The sound quality is superb and they are so comfortable. The cord in the back makes your neck kind of itchy because there's this thing around the rubber part. It's much louder than other headphones so I don't have to turn my CD player to an extremely high volume to hear it on the bus. I urge you to buy these headphones if you are thinking about it.
Nice but.......2003-06-29
These headphones aren't that bad, this is coming from someone that normaly used the earbud style before finding these.
The only reason why I'm not giving them a 5 is that I've never found a pair of them yet that lasts longer than 12 months under my normal usage pattern, so I've gone through three of them in around 30 months.
Small, Effective, and a little Messy.......2003-04-17
These are some great headphones. They are a bit pricey (due to the Sony name) but they are well worth the price. For their small size, they produce excellent sounds over a wide range. They are definitely up to par with other Sony products in terms of technical quality. Their small size is a huge plus when stowing them in a backpack or pocket.
The most unique part of these headphones are the spring hinged ear clips. To put these things on, you rotate the plastic ear clip, put them on your ears, and let go. The spring forces them back into position and "locks" them onto your ears. It takes some getting used to at first, but after a while, you forget your wearing them sometimes.
The W.EAR Headphones also come with two different sets of changable body covers (a translucent turqoise color and solid grey). For those who are into customization, this kind of gets the job done albeit in a small way.
The chord and plug are visually interesting as well. There is a thin black chord that is wrapped in what looks like clear plastic thread. This is just an aesthetic thing, but I think it makes them that much better.
My biggest gripe has to be the length of the chord. Personally, I think it's too long (over 5 feet). This can be great if you have them hooked up to a stationary sound system and need a little moving space, but for a personal device (like an MP3 player), it gets in the way and easily tangles.
The chord tangling up is also a problem during transport. These do not come with a carrying case of any sort so you pretty much just stuff or drop them into place. On other headphones, you could wrap the chord around something, but due to their design, there is nothing to wrap this chord around.

tracyandmatt.co.uk - Repair your scratched iPod screen.......2007-01-25
Ok so maybe this isn't a 'repair' but it's certainly the next best thing!
I've had my iPod video for a little while and a few weeks ago I managed to scratch the screen, it's a bad scratch caused by putting my keys in the same pocket as the iPod. I'm normally so careful with my devices but the mistake all but ruined the screen!
I had an idea and called upon my old friends a JAVOedge. It may well seem like shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted but I thought that an Anti-Glare JAVOscreen might cover up the scratch and prevent any further damage.
So today I got my screen protector from JAVOedge and after cleaning my iPod screen I applied it. I am simply amazed at the results! Have a look at the two pictures below. In the 'before' picture you can clearly see the nasty scratch but after applying the anti-glare screen protector it is virtually impossible to see the scratch, even up close and holding it to the light you can barely see it!
Not only does the JAVOscreen hide the scratch but check out the anti-glare coating. This makes the screen so much easier to see, even in daylight it cuts out all the unwanted reflections.
When you buy a JAVOScreen for an iPod from JAVOedge you don't just get a screen protector that simply covers the screen area, the screen protector covers the whole of the front of the iPod. You also get a circular protector for the click-wheel and another protector for the back of the device!
So whether you are looking to protect your iPod screen from damage or you already have an scratched iPod that you want to 'repair' take a look at the JAVOedge JAVOscreen products - they are certainly a cheaper alternative to replacing the screen!

Awesome scanner! A true collectible.......2007-04-24
This scanner is excellent. I don't have any digital systems in my area, so the fact that this scanner was analog only was not a concern. The bandwidth of the scanner is AMAZING -- .1MHz-1.3GHz is unheard of. It has so many useful features. Close Call is great, along with pre-programmed "Service Searches" (Air, CB, HAM, Military, etc). The audio sounds great and the included batteries work well.
The manual is very informative -- something you don't find often. The screen is not cluttered at all, and alpha tagging is great.
There are only a few cons, none of which are major:
- The NASCAR logo (it's branding; I can understand it)
- No programming software included (do any scanners?)
- I would've liked rubber feet instead of plastic, but the base is stable regardless.
In all, this is a high quality scanner that packs so many more features than it's more expensive, digital-capable brother, the BCD396T. I recommend you pick one up quickly; this scanner has been discontinued unfortunately.
HINT - Hold in '0', 'E' and 'Hold' while powering on. This unlocks a hidden frequency counter mode that can be quite useful.
Uniden BR330T Scanner.......2007-04-01
This product has more features than I thought I would ever use. The scanner has worked flawlessly. It was a little tough understanding the programming of the scanner. But once I worked with the programming it is fairly easy. Looking forward to taking it to the track for an upcoming NASCAR race. I currently use the scanner in public service mode. Great product from Uniden, highly recommend.
This isn't just another racing (NASCAR) scanner.......2006-08-13
I was initially not looking for another handheld scanner. However, I kept reading reviews on this scanner at several websites and forums and determined this scanner was much more than a NASCAR racing scanner.
Yes, there is a NASCAR logo on the scanner and it even has preprogrammed NASCAR (and IRL and CART) frequencies preprogrammed but it is really a very capable public safety scanner that also has shortwave coverage. (In fact, I have not used it at any race track.)
All public safety trunking systems except digital can be monitored as well as conventional channels. This scanner uses dynamic channel memory and has 2500 channels available. Dynamic memory is making its way into the newer Uniden scanners and allows more efficient use of memory. They dynamic allocation lets you assign the exact number of channels needed for a system or bank. No more empty (wasted) channels.
The scanner supports alpha tags. You can program it for systems and talkgroup IDs so rather than just see a frequency on the LCD screen, you can see the system name and talkgroup ID if it is a trunked system.
You can hold on a specific talkgroup ID or conventional frequency if you find something interesting and don't want to scan everything.
The scanner has a nice solid feel and fits nicely in my hand. The controls are laid out very well and it is easy to do most programming and search tasks. The LCD screen is very readable and the back lighted keypad is a nice feature.
The swivel button is much better than a traditional belt clip and allows the scanner to not come off as often when sitting down.
Like most Uniden scanners, it has built in search service search banks and you can add your own as well. The Close Call feature is really nice to have as you travel about. It can quickly locate radios in use from the local drive thru to security units at the local theme park. (I use it when I am out doing sports photography to find the radio headsets used by sideline coaches.) You can auto store the new frequencies as you find them too.
The supplied antenna performs well and the supplied SMA/BNC adapter allows you to use many 3rd party antennas.
There are many accessories included such as a power supply for home use or recharging the 3 supplied AA batteries. (Batteries are hard to get in and out but you should not have to do that often with the rechargeable.) A programming cable (serial version) is supplies and (free) software is available for download from Uniden which can make setting up a lot of systems quick and easy.
The scanner is a very good and does an acceptable job in the HF (Shortwave) range and with a cheap long wire antenna; you can pick up most shortwave broadcasters like the BBC, Voice of America, and more. It does lack SSB which means the ham bands and military on HF are not receivable. Of course adding that would have added to the cost and complexity of the unit.
You will not be disappointed in this scanner and I highly recommend it.
Top of the Line!!.......2006-01-13
I have owned a variety of scanners over the last 20 years, this is a fantastic unit. I had considered going digital, but saw no immediate reason to spend $500-600. This unit is easy to use, small, and fun. I have listened to shortwave for a long time as well, this is OK for shortwave. Obviously, a Grundig or Eton would outperform this unit, however, for basic listening (BBC, VOA, AFRTS) this is great.
