Customer Reviews:
waste of money.......2005-12-09
these headphones produce good sound, but they do NOT work very long. I have had these about 4 months and they just quit one day... I have come to the conclusion after buying 3 pairs of headphones in 1 year that buying expensive headphones is a waste of money.
Not that bad, too many complaints!.......2005-11-21
After reading some of the reviews, I think some people were too harsh on these. Volume control is very nice. Noise reducer does its job and reduces noise. It doesn't block it out fully; but reduces it enough where you can enjoy what your listening too w/o a problem. Head-set fits fine on my head.
They are a tad bit flimsy. I've had my for 8 months now. No breakage. Handle them well, don't toss them about or go skiing with them on and they will be just fine for everyday use or travel.
Broken Support Arm.......2005-10-14
After using these heaphones lightly for about 6 months, the support arm broke. The noise cancelling does not work all that great either, but I am skeptical that any manufacturer and actually reduce noise all that well (Maybe Bose?). Also, another annoying quality is the volume control/noise cancelling on/off button sits in a horrible place. The only place to put it is in your shirt pocket. Otherwise, the 5 pound brick just hangs from the phones. Buy something else and preferably not from Philips if this product is indicative of their craftsmanship.
OK but not durable.......2005-09-08
For basic use, this works pretty well. I used mine in the office several times a week. One annoying thing is the cord -- the volume control/noice reduction switch is placed in an awkward location. It just hangs there and kinda pulls on the headphones a bit when you're wearing it. When they're lying on my desk, the control (which houses the noise reduction battery) will fall off my desk and subsequently, pull my headphones off the desk too.
The noice cancellation feature doesn't 'cancel' out the noise. It can reduce it a bit but it will feel like a change in air pressure in your ears. I usually just turn up the volume to drown out the surrounding noise.
My major complaint with these headphones is that this is my second set (in 3 years) and I have just encountered the same problem that I had with the first one. For whatever reason, while listening to music, the vocals will sound very distant (like it's in the background). I've tried wiggling the cord in various places to see if something was loose. No luck.
They're a pretty good bargain but I've given these headphones 2 chances and they've broken twice. So I'm done with them and will try something else.
This headphone has low sound quality and no Noise Canceling........2005-09-05
"Noise Canceling" definition on the Web = A technology that reduces the background noises but enhances the sound.
What Philips HN100 has?
- reduce background noise = NO,
- enhance the sound = NO,
- humming noise = YES, when "Noise Canceling" is ON,
- bass/treble = very little,
- suitable for MP3 player = NO, in fact even without the "Noise Canceling" you have to turn volume on your MP3 player to the MAXIMUM(yes, like 25/25 on my Creative Zen Xtra).

Customer Reviews:
Average sound system.......2007-11-22
Unit does not have the individual frequency range control that I need. Also the programing is quite complex. Seems to me the sound is very hollow. Very pricey for what it is. All functions do operate ae described in the owners manual. Guess I needed to do more shopping.
May be alright for an entry level Home theater system.
Nice while it worked............2007-11-10
I purchased the predecessor to this model in mid-2006. Shortly after the warranty ran out it stopped working (would not read DVDs). After checking with customer service, I discovered that the nearest repair shop (I'm in Seattle) was in Long Beach, California. I gave them my credit card number, got a Return Merchandise Authorization number, packed it up and headed to the UPS office on August 23rd. The customer service rep said I've have the unit back in about two weeks.
After 6 weeks I called Samsung and asked if there was a problem with my system and after a lengthy wait, I was told there was a miscommunication on their end I my unit never got processed and sat on a shelf since arrival. I was assured it would be back in 2 weeks.
Three weeks later I called again and was assured that the unit would be delivered by the following Monday. On Tuesday I received a call asking for a new credit card number. I must have misread my card number when I gave it to them. I'll take the blame for that one. At this point, though, my patience was wearing thin and I thought I'd use the opportunity to negotiate a discounted repair bill for the botched job. After thoroughly but calmly explaining my experience to two different Samsung Reps, I was told that a special big-wig, authorized in such $150 matters, would call me back within 48 hours to discuss my request. That was 15 days ago (Oct 23rd) and I still haven't received the eagerly anticipated call.
They can keep the unit at this point. I'm looking at new home theater systems and Samsung is not on my list. It's a shame, because it was a nice system for the year that I had it.
Great product for price.......2007-10-02
Pros: Easy to setup, sounds great ,good product for the price.
Cons: Does not play all VCD's.
Excellent Sound Quality, Bad for Comcast.......2007-09-08
The HT-TX75 is provides rich deep sound quality in a very stylish and affordable package. Between an above average frequency response range, great surround sound processing, the high-wattage sub, 5 disk changer, built in stands - I can't really find anything particularly wrong with the TH75 and would readily recommend it to others.
I'd like to address some of the other reviewers issues and share my my own experiences:
-I haven't had any of the trouble other users are reporting with burned DVD's, all of mine worked with it right out of the box, from home movies to ripped commercial DVD's (all burned with Roxio Popcorn or Nero default burn settings), from both my LiteScribe and Panasonic burners.
-Those who say it can't produce surround sound without HDMI input simply missed a simple setting on their remote. It can play Dolby Digital surround sound through all it's inputs, even via composite (you just have to switch the sound mode with the remote to the right setting). Surround sound is, however, a bit more clear and well defined if you use optical or HDMI, but surround via composite is extremely comparable to my other 5.1 and 6.1 speaker systems that don't even have these digital inputs.
-Startup time is all of 2 seconds, afterwards you are free to switch inputs or disks. If you can't wait 2 seconds for it to startup than I would suggest waking up a few seconds earlier every morning to make the time ;-)
My only complaint isn't actually with the receiver. It's with my Cable provider. Apparently Comcast customers in many states in the US (mostly mid western and pacific coast) are stuck running aging firmware on their cable boxes, which has outdated HDCP rules and may block HDMI signals from going from the receiver to the TV. If you are planning on using this with a Samsung HD TV and a Comcast HD cable box, it's probably worth checking what firmware version you are running and if it will be compatible with your setup. Sadly mine was not, and I have to run HDMI straight into the TV and use composite-out from the TV to get sound to the TX75, a setup which prevents me from using any of the syncing abilities of this system and the television. I choose not to let this affect my rating as it isn't really Samsungs fault (I've seen some reports that Comcast was notified of the problem Nov '06), but it it definitely something to investigate before purchasing.

Great system, but doesn't work as advertized, poor Samsung customer service.......2007-08-22
I wont get into a detailed technical review, but just the issues I had with this system.
Sound-wise, this is a great system, with decent read time for disks and great looking speaker stands.
My major problems with this is - it does not work as advertized, and a very poor customer service from Samsung.
I was looking for a system with iPod compatibility, and this system seemed to fit the bill! The specs say clearly that it is iPod compatible; It has a iPod specific-cable included in the box; and the console has a "Made for iPod" logo on it. BUT.. it is NOT made for iPod!! First, the system does not detect the iPod on the USB input every time. It does so after a few attempts. And when it does connect, I cannot see the songs by their names on the TV screen. The song names that I see are exactly the way they are stored in the iPod - 4 character names (like ZZDW, QQYR) stored in folder names like F00, F01... It looks very ugly!
I called up Samsung customer care about this. I was transferred to atleast 3 execs who put me on hold for 5-10 minutes each to "research" the issue. Finally I was transferred to another exec who told me that this model does not support iPod at all! He completely ignored the fact that it is there in specs, the box has a iPod cable and there is "Made of iPod" logo on the console. He repeatedly told me to look at Page 72 of the manual for the list of compatible MP3 players. :-)
I am now better off using the AUX input instead of USB. At least I can see my song list properly.
When I opened the box, the console had a dent on the top towards the front, which was causing an obstruction to the disc tray. The seller directed me to Samsung and Samsung tried to direct me back to the seller for a replacement. Ultimately I opened the box and removed the dent on the metal sheet myself.
It was fairly simple to assemble the speakers and set up the system, but even for my average-sized living room, the rear speaker wires were short, and I had to buy speaker wire.
If it weren't for the iPod compatibility issue, I would have given it 5 stars. And if you have an MP3 player which is in its manual's page 72 :-), then this should be your system.
