Pricey, but worth it........2007-04-24
As I've posted elsewhere, these are my favorite choice for quality listening. They don't tire your ears out (like plugs) and they isolate you from all but the most intrusive environmental distractions. Superb bass response. Older models have a defect in the headband design, Bose has been replacing them absolutely free for the newer, more resilient model (silver).
**2007 note** These are now being retailed for less than one hundred forty-nine dollars (US), so shop around. Some sellers are overcharging for the Triport headphones.
great sound, comfortable fit.......2006-12-10
I am not an audiophile - I do not have the precision hearing of a bat so I can echo-locate my breakfast. I know some folks are far more particular and can hear nuances in sound that are apparently not within my range of hearing. If you're like me - this review is for you.
Like shoes, it's hard to review something as a comfortable fit for everyone. I can only review something as being a comfy fit for me. Everyone's head and ears are designed differently. If you have a mammoth head or large ears, these may not fit you as well as they fit me. I'd recommend trying a pair on - they are sold at fine electronic stores and they usually have a pair you can try on and listen to.
First, I would try wearing them with no audio at all. Just stand there for 5 minutes with these things on. Do they bug you? If so, they're not for you.
Personally, I find the soft cups that pivot for the precise shape of my head to be very comfy. The cups envelope my ears without scrunching them - just surrounding them with the music or audio I want to listen to. The bass is deep - even with the volume cranked way up, I don't feel like either the treble or bass is cracking.
They're not as trendy looking as the miniscule ear buds everyone wears these days - but for complete solitude in listening to an audio book, mowing the lawn while listening to music, or just tuning out white noise while listing to something relaxing, these are nice.
My less than perfect rating is for the kinda cheesy-looking plastic and foamy headband. The headband is a magnet for dog hair (guess how I found that out?) and the plastic components just look cheap. It doesn't matter how good the sound is - when you spend this kind of money, it's nice to know you can enjoy looking at an item, too. This is why Sony & Apple do so well with their products - they work AND they are sexy to look at. These are just - eh. They're ok, but nothing to write home about in the appearance department. I know from their full-page print ads and infomercials that sound engineers and all kinds of research and rocket science goes into their audio equipment - but they seriously need to work with an award winning designer to come up with a better look. If they canned half their ad campaign and devoted some of that money to design, they could lower the price and these things would sell like hotcakes.
Great sound, Not built to last........2006-09-28
These headphones have great sound however, are not for anyone that actually intends on putting them to use. I bought them two years ago for my ipod, since the earbuds are completely unacceptable to me. Within six months one of the ear pieces had broken off. I was able to click it into place during each use and was therefore able to still use them. Then, after a while, they wouldn't even stay in place anymore. These headphones don't come cheap for their great sound and should be made with more durability so you can actually enjoy them for longer than a minute.
Warning...research before you buy!!.......2006-08-26
I am going to start this blast out with, I am so mad I could just cry. I bought two of these. One for me, one for my husband. Ok, 300 bucks. Just after the warrenty expired the plastic along the side that holds the headphones to your head, broke. We taped it up. A week later mine broke in excactly the same spot. Taped it up. A few weeks later both of ours broke on the other side. Taped it up. Then again just above the first break. My husband gave up and ordered himself a pair of Audio-Technica for 99 bucks. They are very high quality and sound better. But me, I taped mine up. By golly, they cost 150 bucks!!! 6 months later one of the ear cups just fell off. Now. I know what you are thinking. How much abuse did I put these through? At this price, I treated them as if they were made of glass. I have never in my life seen plastic, for lack of a better word, rot like this. They just fell apart. I am suprised and angry at Bose for making such a cheap product and having the nerve to sell it for 150 dollars. SO!!! I went out and bought myself a pair of Sennheiser HD465 headphones for 72 bucks. Like my hubby's new set they are built like a tank and the sound?? Glory be!!!! 100% better!!
This product gets one star from me. What good are headphones if they don't stay on your head? Bose lost two customers for life. Bose 'shmose!!!!!
Great sound terrible construction.......2006-08-15
I love the sound of the tri-port by Bose but they broke the first night I used them. I fall asleep wearing them on board ship and they keep breaking. Cheap plastic lightweight construction. Super glue and tape required if you buy these.

Terrible Reception.......2007-11-23
I purchased this item primarily because I knew it matched up well with a particular Motorcycle mount I was buying. After receiving the purchase, I activated the unit and could not get a consistant signal. The antenna was always disabled and searching for a signal. Before returning it, I purchased a sirius system and it worked perfectly. I, then was sure I had a defective unit. I must say, Amazon was great in allowing me to return the unit, even though it was past the 14 day return period of the company that shipped it to me. I was greatly pleased in Amazon's coorporation with me and I will continue to purchase from them. In all the times I've bought from Amazon, this is the first time I had a problem at all. Thank you Amazon for your assistance. I will continue to be a loyal customer.
Sirius Rocks on Audiovox.......2007-05-23
I have had sirius for two years, and have two friends that I give 3 subscriptions to as gifts (each additonal subscriptin is about 8 dollar a month) - they all love them. I have a life time subscription. My original audiovox got ripped off, so I needed to get it replaced - and they don't hold it as one of the three changes in radios I am allowed. For the money, the third version of the Autiovox is best - it gives good fm transmistion that has had to be toned down per the FCC in other models. Unless you want to record the shows with protable models that are more expensive, this is the way to go. Sirius content is better than xm - esp. if you love nfl football, nba basketball, etc.
Happy with both.......2007-04-12
I've been using the radio for about a week now. In that week, I've driven through southern Ontario, western NY, PA, WV, MA, and VA.
Radio itself: Seems well built, solid. Has a nice FM transmitter. I haven't experienced any of the problems other people seem to have with the newer radios (i.e. week transmitter). LCD is clear and bright, even during the day. My only complaint is the number of 'motions' required to change the frequency (Menu button, scroll down 4 or 5 options, select FM Frequency, scroll down to 2nd option, select it, etc...). As I was traveling through several States, I ended up changing about three to four times. If you end up staying in one area, then this won't be as important to you.
Mount: It works. I 'stuck' it to my dash and will not end up screwing it in - I don't need to from the looks of things. It's a bit tough getting the radio out of the cradle. Also, the first time I changed the position of the cradle, it felt like I was going to break it. Other reviews, however, had prepared me for this and I wasn't worried too much.
Sirius service: I bought this in the States (I currently live in Canada) because I wanted the US service (why does everything in CAN appear to be a watered down version of the comparable product/service available in the US?). However, I needed a US credit card...hrm...so I signed up for the CAN service instead. It looks like I lose a few channels and the service costs more ($20 for start up, $15 for service PLUS GST!!!). On the good side, however, the CAN service worked flawlessly in the States as I expected and I experienced no hickups when crossing the border. Also, I was told by Sirius CAN that because I have a US radio, that I will be able to get the US stations when I move back down (and acquire US service plan). Otherwise, if I had bought a CAN system, I would have had to re-purchase a US system in order to get the US specific stations.
Ok - I made a believer out of my wife. She was a bit skeptical about me spending 15 a month on this, but with 28 + hours of driving behind us, she's now impressed with the station quality and selection. So am I
UPDATE: APRIL 13, 2007. Here's something I just found out. I purchased a US radio with the intent of using the US Service in Canada (see watering down comment above). That didn't fly because I don't have a US credit card. Fair enough, so I sign up for the CAN service. Just found out that I won't be able to pick up some CAN stations because my radio is a US model. Also, I won't be able to pick up many (by my count 10) US stations because I have the CAN service. It's the worst of both worlds in my mind, for now. I still get about 95% of Sirius stations, so I'm not too upset. Plus, when I move back down to the States I won't have to re-purchase a new unit.
So, just be aware of where your radio is coming from and which service you intend to use.
Sirius is Expensive .......2005-12-15
Dude, if you pay for a liftime subscription you can only trasfer you membership 3 times??? Ahh then what? So you have to take you in dash radio with you for the rest of your life!!!??? So I go buy a few radio's to tryout and I don't like the first 2 Im stuck with the third, for Life???!! Ok peeps if I buy a life time subscription it should be for my lifetime not my radios lifetime....
confused.......2005-12-09
This plug and play works great!
My confusion comes when trying to get the boombox accessory. Dose the sir-bb3 boombox work with this plug and play? The reason I am confused is because when I went to purchase the boombox I was told it only works with the sir-pnp3 plug and play!?!?!?! They don't explain that very well.

Customer Reviews:
Agree with JT BUT>>>>>>.......2007-12-03
JT's comments as well as many who rate this item highly I must say I agree.
I DID run into several installation problems that related to a tool missing from the box: A Hex wrench. The one they included was not needed, but for the pivots on the swing arms. The one NEEDED, was not included and made the work a bit confusing. As well, as the directions made ZERO mention of using that hex wrench. Ok here is the story.
There are four short, and two long [ 4" ] vice bars on the back...You are supposed to thread a screw into the four short ones, then loosen them then tighten them..BUT they don't tell you this until the end. The wrench I needed to do such wasn't included. Had devil of a time finding the correct size hex. And I have almost every one on hand....Taped the one I used to the back of the unit for later use...that bad.
If you don't loosen these vices first, you'll have a tough time puting the screws through them...
If no hex, you cannot loosen and tighten them to the cross-bars correctly.
LASTLY, the wires on the back will take some doing. I have a Hole in the wall via which all cords travel. I recommend NOT using too many wires, as when I move the TV out to a 90degree angle for cooking in the Kitchen, the cords are a bit of a problem. Tried some cleaver things like zipties, and weights etc. BUT now probably going to use a thin-wire technique and do away with many wires.
VERY Sturdy unit, HIGHLY qualified for my 42"54 Samsung TV that weighs about 50# on own. Swivel had me nervouse with their short wall screws, so opted for 4" models of high grade steel
DON'T Over torque...When It gets tight, give it another 1/4 turn.
TAKES TWO people and get a good stud finder, and a good yet, small level.
Mine is a bit off by a 1/4 inch on right side [correctable when I'm in the mood ] and not noticable, only to me, I guess....
ALSO, you may need to add rubber bumpers like for furniture on back of TV to prevent wall bumping...
montura para tv .......2007-12-02
es perfecto, de calidad y funcional, permite mover el tv a distintos ángulo con facilidad...
Great wall mount.......2007-09-27
If you want a great swivel wall mount get this one. It's a piece of cake to mount if you have 2 people. Rock steady once mounted. Easy to move and stays in place. When it's against the wall you can't tell the difference compared to a static wall mount. Righ now attached to a 37" Panasonic plasma but will easily change when I upgrade. Can get close to 80 deg angle without a problem. Make sure your wires are long enough to move the unit around and that you don't hit the wall with the the corner of the TV.
Great product.......2007-08-29
I'm put up my Sharp 46" LCD with no problem. I was able install it on my own following the instructions and set everything up until the part where you need to place the TV on the wall mount part. I had to have my wife help as the TV is way too heavy for me to lift and at the same time place on the mount. It was a very simple install and took me about an hour which includes finding studs. I'm very happy with this mount as it allows me to turn the TV in any way I like. I would recommend it to anyone who's getting a mount.
Sturdy mount. Easy to install........2007-07-21
Ordered this from Amazon to hang a 40 inch LCD. Directions were easy to follow. Toughest part was locating the studs. Had to buy longer screws to reach the studs because there was extra plaster-type material overlying the dry wall.
