D-LINK DCS-5300W, WIRELESS CAMERA B/IN MICROPHONE
Customer Reviews:
Rock solid camera, questionable software.......2007-12-09
Hardware: 5 stars for the price
The 5300W works great. Installed a week ago and have had no problems. Was easy to configure (even on with some custom network settings I have) and connect to network without problems. Has been working as expected (I wasn't expecting much, just a good picture with basic pan/tilt).
Cons: Wish the patrol would continue to cycle - it does not. Stops after one cycle.. and sometimes at different positions.
Software: 1 star for the price (because it installed and I was able to run it)
But my God! Who designed, and wrote this crud? Modifies video settings, takes over full screen, cannot minimize, looks like junk, non-intuitive interface, crashes system 1 out of 5 times -- yada yada. I can go on but will spare you. (I usually don't expect much from bundled software ever, but this one ranks with the worst.)
Summary: If you want a basic IP camera that is easy to install and works well, then go for it. Just ignore the bundled software and go with a third-party package (like ReCam or the like).
Cheers
1 Year + 2 days: R.I.P........2005-08-05
After spending considerable time configuring, updating firmware, and deciphering manuals, I thought I was in the clear. Although the "wireless option" was, shall we say, "disappointing", the wired configuration was providing a great view of Lake Winnipesaukee from my office window (for MSIE users, that is; Firefox/Opera browsers are not supported) until 1 year and 2 days from date of purchase. The camera sensed the warranty expiration and is now completely dead (well, pan and tilt still work, but what's the point?). D-Link support suggested I buy a new one. I will. I found a nifty Panasonic camera that looks very promising. The 5300W goes in the bin with my previously-failed D-Link Router and D-link switch.
Good features. Poor quality for price.......2005-07-07
The features are great: emailing, pan and tilt, wireless, zooming, etc.
However, the image quality is probably one of the poorest image qualities i have ever seen with a camera that cost well over $400. Luckily, this was bought with company money and not my own. If i bought it personally, i would be pissed off.
The Best Surveillance Camera on the Market.......2005-05-18
This camera has to be the best available option for office/home surveillance system on the market. I have 4 camera's at home and recommended them in the office, and now using 2. With my networking background, set up was less than 15 minutes. Loaded with features, this camera hasn't yet failed my needs. I able to watch the neighboors peak around my place and even look into windows. I highly recommend this camera. Price is high but once you get it running the product out weighs the price.
An Awesome Camera with Ro-Bitchen Features!.......2005-04-30
This thing is like a little robot eye. I can pan and tilt and digital zoom all from a web browser on my networked PC. The image quality is good, the wireless range is good, the features are quite robust, and it even looks good.
You can mount it upside down and have it flip the image it sees, thus still showing everything "right side up". The digital zoom was added with a firmware upgrade. The price is a little daunting, but if you are going to put it to good use I think you would enjoy this camera.

More than a pretty face, the Katana DLX is ready for downloads from the Sprint Music Store and Sprint TV over the EV-DO Mobile Broadband Network. |

Customer Reviews:
Great phone.......2007-11-21
I wish it took a little better pictures close up, but other then that, I love it. Especially the in call voice memo. I'm constantly on the road, now instead of fumbling with a pen and paper while i'm driving, i just turn on the voice memo, and everything they say is recorded. awesome.
great phone .......2007-10-15
this is a great phone lve the menu iocns for sanyo theme easy to use and the clarity on calls is great linked to my bluetooth easily this is a fun phone to have being that I was a nextel guy but the calls are alot clearer on the sprint network and you don't have that annoying you here youeself when you talk like on nextel
Awesome Sprint Phone.......2007-08-26
Over the past year I have used the LG Fusic, Samsung A900 (Blade) and Motorola RAZR (awful) and this phone is just great. It's user interface is customizable, screen is crystal clear with great colors and speakerphone works well. I have no problems or delay accessing e-mail as others have stated. I'm a big Sanyo fan on Sprint and they have outdone themselves this time...plus its a great looking phone. Reception is good too, although I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 because I have dropped a couple of calls since I got the phone last week, but nothing excessive. The retail store told me that Sprint is supposed to have some exciting phones coming out in the next few months and this is just the tip of the iceberg. All I can say is its about time.
On the 4th Exchange Now for the Katana DLX. . ........2007-08-02
Ok the phone sounded like a really good idea after owning the first series of Katana. Especially with all of the new upgrades they promised, EVDO broadband, sterio media speakers, upgraded memory storage, a new 1.3 megapixel camera, etc.
However, what good is all of these upgrades if the phone doesn't work?? In fact the very first phone we got, we didnt even get out of the store before we realized that you could not answer the call coming in to the phone. So that was exchange #1.
Exchange #2 happened in the first few days when the phone wouldnt ring when people were trying to call me, in fact we could be in the same house with someone dialing my phone and the phone simply wouldn't ring. The last straw was when my daughter called me late at night and ended up driving to my house at midnight because my phone simply was not working with no missed calls, no missed pages and no voice mails after at least 3 people were looking for me... so exchange #3 happened that next day...
Exchange #3 happened very quickly because we already knew that we were testing out the phone...and it did not receive calls even the very next morning so on to the Sprint store we drove...even a different sprint store this time and a different color hoping for better results.
Now we are on Exchange #4 and it has only been since the 15th of July from our original purchase /cringe... and we are hoping for the best...so far so good. While we love the features of the phone, we are worried about the reliability in the long run and want others to know of the risks and problems. Sprint is denying any problems from others at these two stores.
Froze up when I trying to receive email.......2007-07-20
Just got this phone 2 hours ago. It freezes every time I tried to use email function. Everything else is fine. Hate to call their customer service due to the endless wait. I guess I will go the the store directly asking for exchange or just reutrn it.
