unreliable, drops connection for no reason.......2007-08-27
I thought I saved 50$, but instead I spent hours reading FAQ, upgrading firmware etc. etc.
Do NOT buy this product.
What a relief..........2007-08-11
This product did exactly what I needed it to do - it unleashed me from my office desk and allows me to work/surf on my laptop throughout my house. It was really easy to set up and was up and running within maybe 30-minutes.
The signal has been strong throughout my house (not that it is that big of a house) but my download speed has been pretty high which was important for me.
pathetic wireless function.......2007-01-03
I took over as an IT manager position for a small company and inherited a HWR54G router. We had a fully functional Linksys WAP11B working but I thought it would be a better idea to utilize the wireless G because of the speed. After replacing the WAP, I noticed that we were getting 54 Mbps instead of the 11 we were getting with the WAP ... but my elation was short lived. It would cycle from 54 to 1 at any given time, regardless whether I used Windows, Intel or Belkin to control the wireless function. We have 3 notebooks, 2 that are about 60' away and one that's about 12' away. It doesn't matter which notebook I'm working with, the result is still the same. I went back to the Linksys because it's reliable and the 54M went into the trash ... probably where it should have been in the first place.
very poor performance.......2006-09-17
This is the poor quality wireless router ever i have seen. signals drop very often. technical support also very poor. i suggest not to buy this router.
The Timex of wireless routers.......2006-06-28
I've had mine running for a few years now without any problems at all. Not fancy, but it works. As others suggest, don't let Windows control your networks, use the OEM software. No connection problems, no range problems, just keeps on ticking. I don't use IM of any kind so I can't respond to problems with that. Their PCMCIA adapter beats the D-Link and Netgear cards too, we use all at work and the Hawking consistently gets better connections and range. There are other good 54g routers out there, but keep this one on the list too.

Amazon.com Product Description
If you like the look and feel of Nokia phones, but you've been waiting for a powerful clamshell design, the wait is over. The quad-band Nokia 6133 packs a serious punch with support for EDGE data, dual high-resolution color displays, a 1-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, microSD memory expansion, a music player, and a whole lot more. It's the perfect companion to T-Mobile service. It also supports T-Mobile's great myFaves service
Design
The 6133's super thin design houses an inner display that sports an impressive 240 x 320 resolution and support for 16.7 million, yes million colors. Meanwhile, the outside cover of the handset features a supplementary, 128 x 160, 262,000-color display that can display picture IDs, time, call information, battery and signal strength, and more. You can even setup the external color screen to display a large analog clock.
The phone's camera unit is conveniently placed just above the external display, while the up and down buttons for volume control are placed on the left side, and a camera control button is placed on the right side of the phone. Most of the phone's features and on-screen menus are controlled by a five-way center button on the handset's control pad, while an innovative press-to-open button allows for easy, one-handed opening of the clamshell device. There's also an input to accept universal hands-free headsets, and a USB port for transferring data to and from the handset. The hot-swappable microSD/TransFlash memory expansion slot is compatible with cards up to 2 GB of capacity.
Calling Features
The 6133 supports polyphonic ringtones, as well as video-based ringers so you can load your favorite video clips to alert you of incoming calls. Plus, with the phone's picture and ringer ID functions, you can assign pictures and ringtones to your most common callers. For when you need to be discreet, there's also a vibrate ringer mode. Meanwhile, speaker-independent voice activated dialing makes calling your friends, family and associates as easy as saying their names. The phone recognizes any voice, so you don't have to worry about pre-recording your commands. The 6133's phone book will keep track of all your contacts, and the address book capacity is only limited by the phone's 11 MB of built-in memory. Lastly, there's an integrated speakerphone for talking hands-free, and the phone's Bluetooth connectivity means that your favorite Bluetooth headset is fully compatible.
Other calling features include compatibility with T-Mobile's myFaves service, which allows you to call up to five of your most common contacts--on any network--without using any of your minutes. Learn more about myFaves.
Messaging, Internet and Tools
The 6133 is a mobile messaging and Internet powerhouse. With support for the MMS (multimedia messaging service), the phone can send picture and text messages, and when coupled with the phone's powerful camera, MMS opens up great opportunities for robust messaging. The phone ships with a built-in email client that supports POP3, IMAP, and SMTP protocols. You can even open and view email attachments.
Getting on the Internet is easy with the 6133. It supports the GPRS data protocol, as well as the high-speed EDGE wireless data service. When used with your carrier data plan and the phone's USB or Bluetooth data capability, the phone can be used as a wireless modem for laptops and PDAs. The phone is bundled with a mobile Web browser, too. Meanwhile, T9 text entry, a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built into the unit--a plus for mobile email and text messaging users.
The 6133 supports PC synchronization via USB or Bluetooth, which means you can manage and synchronize contacts, calendar and other data with your PC. Nokia's PC Suite application makes this process a breeze. A number of handy software tools are bundled with the 6133 including a voice memo recorder, a calculator, a calendar, a to-do list, and an alarm clock.
Imaging and Entertainment
This is where the real fun begins. The 6133's 1-megapixel camera takes great pictures and it can also capture video. And when you've got all the pictures you want on your memory card, you can connect the camera directly to any PictBridge-compatible printer for instantaneous printing right from the phone. The phone supports playback of streaming video in 3GPP format, too.
If mobile music is your thing, you can load up your MP3, MP4, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, and WMA audio files and listen to your heart's content via the stereo headset jack. And don't forget about the games! The phone comes with a perennial favorite, Snake, as well as 3D soccer.
Vital Statistics
The Nokia 6133 weighs 3.95 ounces and measures 3.61 x 1.88 x 0.79 inches. Its lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 3.4 hours of digital talk time, and up to 240 hours of digital standby time. It runs on the GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 frequencies. The phone comes with a one year limited warranty.
Customer Reviews:
Takes all of the strengths of every phone and packs them into one.......2007-12-26
Pros: Flip button, memory slot, separate holes for charger and headset, EXCELLENT MP3 player with clear and loud sound (good enough to be a boombox), alarm goes off even if the phone is off or on silent, camera (though not clear, at least it's there), video can record for as long as your memory lets it (most phones only record up to 15 secs, this one can record up to 40 minutes depending on how much space you have), radio, though you can't set MP3's as ringtones, you can convert them to WMA and still set them; camera has flash [night vision], if you use headphones to listen to music, it drains virtually NO battery life (I listened for 8 hours straight and my phone still had full bars),
Cons: Can't fast forward or rewind videos, radio only has one station (?? Am I doing this wrong?), voice recorder can only record up to one minute (unless there's a way to change this? On my old phone, it was able to record up to as much as the memory can hold), when texting, it's hard to change from Abc to T9 to numbers and etc (maybe that's just me?); only records latest call on log (meaning if my mom called me once at 12 and another time at 1, it'd only show me the one at 1), whenever you change a theme the ringtone reverts back to the Nokia theme (this can be annoying), can't set separate ringtones for different people (is this just me also?, camera's sometimes blurry and sometimes clear, there's no button to go directly to the music player (my friend's phone has this, it's extremely convenient), battery life sorta short (unless using headphones), I hate the jack for the headphones so much, screen gets dirty too fast (hard to clean off corners), phone's sorta bulky and wide and a little on the ugly side
So basically, there are a bit more cons than pros, however, the pros are obviously a lot stronger while the cons are just minor things that can be brushed aside. I'm very very pleased with this phone...if it looked any better, that'd be nice...but other than that, I'm in love with this phone. The one thing that bothers me most is the fact that you can't ff or rewind videos, is there a way to do that on this phone?
It's the details that are missing from other reviews.......2007-12-18
I've carefully culled through the reviews before getting this one. I've used Samsung, Motorola and Sony Ericsson before, so I was eager to try out Nokia phone. Clamshell is relatively new for Nokia, but what the heck, right?
Okay, so here are what I like:
1) Simple Bluetooth connection with PC. The desktop software is pretty basic (and how it handles contacts is rather clumsy) but once you set it up, you can synch contact/appointment/files with phone pretty easily. I do this once a day in the morning.
2) The rubber-like texture on the phone is very nice. It doesn't slip off the fingers or surfaces, and I've had history of losing phones because they slipped out of my pockets.
3) The button-flip is interesting, although the spring mechanism makes a cheap plastic cracking sound. The inside screen's power-up is also about 1/2 second behind the flip open, which is slightly annoying.
Okay, so I guess I'm going into the negatives now...
1) I was VERY excited about radio and MP3 features until I found out to my dismay that you NEED to use the included Nokia earphones (with Nokia-custom connectors) to play either of them. The neckstrap/earphone acts as FM antenna, I hear, but it's a mess of wire and neckstrap that you need to untangle everytime you need to use the music features. Yes, there's the speaker that you can put the music through (which is pretty decent for the size) but you NEED to have that darned neckstrap/earphone connected in order for the music player to work, even if you just want to hear it on the speaker.
2) Most phone's mic have a slight bit of a noise echo, so that you know when the mic works. This one doesn't, which makes for a slightly weird talking experience -- I had to ask "can you hear me" a few times before I was assured that the mic was working just fine.
3) The customization options are limited (compared to Motorola) in terms of choice of ringtones that come out of the box, background/themes, or even the way you configure your menus. I thought Nokia would be better, but trying to navigate the options to figure out how to do what you want it to do wasn't any better than Samsung's or Nokia's.
4) The chrome plated border around the keypad is downright cheap (in a cheap, plasticky way) and there's a visible gap between the border and the keypad, where you can see through the crack, especially with the keypad backlight on.
5) The charger uses a proprietary plug -- not a mini-USB like the Motorolas or Blackberries. This means I'll need to make SURE to bring my Nokia charger around, instead of one of my 4 mini-USB plug chargers.
I'm keeping the phone because I'm learning to live with the limitations. If they could just let this phone play music on a STANDARD headphone jack or its loudspeaker without the stupid earphone, and use standard mini-usb plug charger, I'd rate this phone a 4 1/2.
I don't recommend this phone.......2007-12-03
The first time I got this phone the microphone was broken. I could not hear anyone, but they could hear me just fine. T-mobile sent me another Nokia 6133, and it was working fine. I have had the phone for not even 3 months yet, and the microphone broke again. This time I can hear the other person, but they can't hear anything from me. Please, save your money and don't bother with this phone. It's not worth the hassle.
good for now ... could be better.......2007-12-01
I got this phone after having a little better version samsung. It has a nice button to open the phone- I call it my lazy button. Not a lot of memory available. Have enjoyed other phones better. camera is okay- has different features and photo editing or add ons to the photos, but I wouldn't use it for more than on the phone, has long recoding time and good sound but not a lot of memory. Bluetooth on the phone- a plus.
DO NOT BUY!!!!!.......2007-11-25
When my boyfriend lost his phone, T-mobile convinced me to "upgrade" and get the buy one get one free promotion on this phone. It was a waste of time. This phone has neat features but it has the worst reception and sound quality I have experienced in a cell phone. All of the calls sound metallic, have allot of static, and the volume goes in and out. At first I thought it was just my phone, but I asked my boyfriend about it and he said he had the same problems. We have only had the phones for 4 days and we are going to return them. Im thinking about going back to my old Pebl phone even though it doesn't have favorite fives.
