Great for the price.......2006-08-12
Bottom line up front:
Works very well, very low price, works much better with the
included drivers than with the generic windows xp driver
Detailed review:
I bought this so I could use my new Treo 700w with my non-bluetooth-enabled laptop. The price was my main motivation in buying it.
Initially I just plugged it in and used the default windows xp drivers and it worked okay, however it didn't always work and i'd have to unplug/replug for my phone and the device to find and talk to each other.
After getting tired of that, I decided to install the drivers that ship with the product. I've had a much better experience since i did that. I was afraid the software would be really clunky given the cheap price, but it's actually quite good and gives you a TON of options that the standard XP driver does not provide.
If you use a this with a laptop and you dock/undock it, you'll have much better luck if you stop the adapter prior to docking/undocking. Otherwise, you'll probably end up having to unplug/replug it.
Excellent Easy-to-use Dongle.......2006-03-19
The Iogear adapter worked great with my iBook and Motorola PEBL phone. Pretty self-explanatory (of you are at all familiar with your system) and worked great without having to use the included software with OSX (10.4.3, Tiger). Really handy to have if one is not ready or able to get an internal bluetooth card for a one's machine. This is a great piece of gear and at about $20, definitely worth the throw.
Not 2.0 compliant........2005-12-31
I use the IOgear GBU211 for a modem connection with my Motorola E815 bluetooth capable phone. It paired to my laptop without any difficulties. The phone itself has a 66' bluetooth radius so I only needed the same from the bluetooth adapter; if you want to use bluetooth headphones definitely go with something that has a stronger signal.
I remember hearing about bluetooth technology about 4 years ago and it has taken its time in finding its niches in the market. I'm seeing it everywhere now, and although I initially got this just for use with my phone-modem, I can see myself using this adapter for wireless headphones or a wireless mouse (though I hear the mice suffer from lag, so I'm holding out on that).
A big con on this product is that it's bluetooth 1.2, which has a 723kbps (or 90kBps) limit. It works fine for a modem connection but not for file-transfers; it takes 11 seconds to transfer 1 megabyte at that rate. The bluetooth 2.0 standard is three times faster and is backward compatible. Higher throughput will also have less bottlenecking if you're using multiple bluetooth items (say simultaneously using a BT mouse, BT headphones, BT modem & BT networking/internet sharing). There will be more & more bluetooth gadgets coming along and a computer can have only one adapter installed at a time. Although this product works as advertised I recommend getting one that's 2.0 compliant.
Reliable, fully featured, and compatible........2005-12-18
This device works well on Windows XP, Service Pack 2, with not a single problem in recognizing the hardware.
Installing the included software and drivers is optional because Windows XP has included Bluetooth support in its service pack, but I can confirm that installing the included drivers resulted in no problems.
The device has a rounded form factor, which could become a problem when sharing room with other USB devices on hubs of tightly spaced USB ports.
I have successfully paired the device with the Motorola Razr, the Motorola V551, and the Nokia 6230, as expected. With a lower price tag than most other USB Bluetooth adapters, as well as its full pack of features, this Bluetooth adapter is a bargain.
works well. Quick start quide has some mistake.......2005-12-08
I got mine today at Fry's. It works all right with my logitech BT headset. I had some problem installing it. I believe the reason was that I followed the instruction on the quick start guide which is actually incorrect. By ignoring the advice to disconnect the adapter during driver installation I succeeded in the second round. BTW, I am using Win XP.
An extension cord helps with better signal, which doesn't come with the little usb adapter.

Regret Ever Getting It!.......2007-09-01
I originally had an excellent Samsung cell phone but because I spilled coffee on it and then ruined my second one in the washer I decided to try a new one. What a HUGE mistake. Thank God it didn't cost me anything because like others say in their reviews, this is a piece of junk!
The look is not at all pretty to begin with. I dislike flashy pink. I was expecting a light pink tone but instead I got this. Mine was sent by the mail. The phone turns off in the middle of my calls. When I check e-mails, or when I am chatting IM it shuts off. It even deletes my chat conversations and e-mail password information for later fast log-in. It constantly sends this type of thing: 12222 bytes sent every freaking 3 minutes. And to top it off, my entire address book mysteriously vanished.
The reception is terrible. If I am in the house talking on my regular phone then all of a sudden I will hear HUGE sounds from the cell phone and it will reach my home phone ruining my conversations.
And if you really want to feel frustrated it takes FOREVER when you are browsing the Internet. I don't think Valium would surface to wait endlessly for the pages to show up. It can make anyone go crazy. And when you click on a link it gets the message, "too large to ..."
No cute cell phone cases are large enough to get this in there. If you go to the club it's TOO BIG. I've dropped it a zillion times. I can't think of a single positive thing to say about this phone except that it didn't cost me a cent.
I've had many phones but none like this trashy one. It looks ugly, it's way too big, it's slow, and the functions are bad. Why get something that is no good? Save your money and check out something better. I got it because it was free and because I saw many people with it. HUGE mistake. The Samsung phone I had was MUCH better. Don't go on popularity. Just because everybody has it doesn't mean it's great. I'd recommend to try them out in the store.
Don't buy this phone.......2007-08-26
Although pretty in pink, the reception on this phone is the worst! My old phone died so I "upgraded" to this one because of the price (it gets expensive to have to keep buying new phones). Within a month, I regretted my decision. On my old phone I had little or no reception problems. This phone seems to lose signal constantly even though I am in a strong signal area. T-mobile tried many things to help me even charging me to ship me a new phone which had worse signal than the one I already had problems with. When I spoke with other Razor users, they too are having the same issues - no matter what cellular carrier. The day I went into T-mobile, the cust svc agent said she had heard no complaints about this phone and yet the man next to me was ranting and raving about the same issues with the same phone.
TOTAL PIECE OF JUNK.......2007-07-24
I read a lot of negative reviews about this phone before I purchased it...hoping mine would turn out differently...But I'm sorry to say this phone is a total piece of junk! I've had it for less than two months and it is already living up to its bad reputation...It powers off all the time, even in the middle of calls...and if you do manage to hold a conversation, it constantly buzzes and clicks when you are on the phone.
Just junk...My samsung lasted for 4 years with zero problems even after being dropped over and over...4 years, this one didn't even make it two months!!! No wonder they're practically trying to give them away!
It's a RAZR and it's Magenta........2007-03-28
Moto's RAZR has always been form over function. They keep up with the tradition, even years after the first RAZR was produced and with no concern for improving it. Speaker phone quality is fairly crappy, but then again, the thing is too thin to fit a real speaker into so who are they kidding?
Haven't used the myFaves feature because we have unlimited m2m and have trouble using up over 100 minutes a month on the shared plan.
