Works as advertised.......2007-12-25
I have had this product for nearly 45 days and I am pleased to report that it works as advertised, though I did have two tiny issues.
This device supports Mac mini (powerPC Tiger 10.4), Dell E521 (XP pro), IBM Thinkpad T42 in docking station (XP pro)and a older Dell Dimension 4100 (W2Kpro/Suse9 dual boot). I use this device primarily for KVM switching and do not currently use the additional speaker/mic/USB options. The KVM switching works and has without issue (after initial setup) since first week.
Here are the two issues...
I have to plug the USB cable (for Kbd/Mous) into the side USB port of the T42p Thinkpad. It will not work using the USB ports (there are 4 of them) on the docking station. This could be due to some issue with the docking station. The VGA **IS** plugged into the docking station and works. Its a minor nuisance to plug/unplug the USB cable from the switch into the side port of the laptop each time I dock and undock, but I can live with it if the KVM works otherwise. And it does. On the plus side, The expanded two-screen feature of the laptop works with the KVM so when the laptop is switched in, both the laptop's screen and the standalone LCD work (as one big screen). This is nice as I can start a long running process on the laptop and drag its window to the laptop's screen and then switch the KVM to another system. While the main LCD is attached to the other PC, the running window on the laptop is still visible.
The other minor issue was that the switch never did seem to get along with Logitech cordless keyb/mous. Behavior was erratic. Sometimes with it would switch between systems and work perfectly, other times, after a switch, the mouse and/or keyboard would appear dead. I've seen other similar complaints on several KVMs so I don't think its a deficiency of the KVM switch as much as it may be an incompatibility. If wireless k/m is a necessity (yeah, I don't like messy wires either) then look for a KVM with its own wireless k/m (they do exist). After about 2-3 days, I switched to the hardwired keyb/mous that came with the Dell E521 and there have been no problems since.
As mentioned, I do not use the mic/speaker switching option.
I did initially play around with the USB switching feature, running a USB cable from the KVM to a 4 port USB hub to which are plugged cables for various items. The only live item is an external WD disk. It worked, but I found it aggravating each time I switched since the PC you are leaving beeps when the USB device is unplugged and the PC you are switching to beeps as the USB device is discovered. (I switch frequently). BUT, the PCs **DO** recognize the device as it comes and goes, which indicates that switching works.
I've had **NO** issues on any system with sluggishness, erratic mouse tracking, etc. No negative impact on gaming.
Also, the quality on the LCD (19" Xerox) appears to be no different (to me) than when the LCD is plugged directly into the PC - which is to say, I don't see that the KVM has introduced any degradation into the video signal. Clear, sharp, no waviness.
The last nit is I really wished they would have put the two USB ports for the keyb/mous in the back of the unit instead of the front. Having them in the front, they poke out and then the wires run back to their concealed area. Had these two plugs been placed in the back, it would have made the overall appearance much cleaner on the desk as the switch fits neatly in the gap under the main LCD screen and its base stand.
All in all, I found the product worth the money and I am pleased with it's performance.
Works as advertised, unlike others I have tried. .......2007-12-09
This product works as advertised unlike some of its competitors. So far I have hooked up to it a Apple OSX box, a Windows 2000 box, FreeBSD 6.x Laptop and SUSE 10.x Laptop. All but the Windows box worked on the first try.
I do not use USB keyboard but an older PS/2 keyboard and used a "USB to PS/2 Adapter" and that worked fine.
To bring the Windows system up I needed to do few reboots as it needed to configure the different USB drivers,
my suggestion is to connect the switch to the Windows systmem first (do not try it during reboot).
Keep a spare keyboard handy just in case.
This product comes with 4 cables that connect you to any
USB enabled product, there is no NEED to buy any cables
it is cheaper to buy USB-to-PS2 converter than the special
PS/2 IOGEAR cable.
I have different native resulution on each one of my boxes and the KVM switch handles that fine even in my highest resulution 1700x1200. Sound works fine but I have not tried the microphone connection.
Overall this is the first USB KVM that I'm happy with and I have returned a few in my time. The extra USB ports sound like a good idea but I have not tried them yet, thinking about using them for a common backup disk and to share a color printer.
If you have mutiple computers and want to share one nice display and keyboard this is the product to check out first.
Never ending grief.......2007-09-28
I've had this product for 2 years, there has never been any FW updates. It will work for a bit, then mouse will mess up. buttons, scroll wheel, left and right button signals get mixed. Some times powering down all devices(pain) and unplugging the power to the kvm will fix it, but not always. Extended function for you mouse will not work so forget the joys of that. Support is as bad as it could get, if you have a weak heart just put it in the trash and save yourself.

I purchased the Microsoft wireless 7000 keyboard and mouse and needed a switch that would support a wireless keyboard and mouse since my old switch did not. This switch worked perfect.

I have 4 computers hooked to this product. Connection was easy and the single cable per computer reduces the clutter. 3 of the 4 computer are running at 1920x1200 and the 4th at 1600x1200, switching is immediate even when changing resolution. The ability to switch keyboard and mouse without switching the other USB devices is awsome. Before that I had a 2 port Tripp-Lite that would "loose" one or the other computer from time to time; I had to power down everything to get back control. This one does not, I can reboot any computer at any time, with or without focus and everything works as it should.

Great price for a quality mount.......2007-02-07
Purchased this mount for a 27" Samsung LCD in the bedroom. Mount is very low profile, but has a nice (limited) tilt. Install was easy with the included kit, had screws, etc. for just about any mounting pattern. Great price when compared to local retailers. The Peerless website had this item with a MSRP of over $100.
