Crappy, devious and dangerous.......2007-12-27
Not sure why Linksys has not recalled this product in spite of its numerous reported problems:
1) The router disconnects frequently, especially when downloading large files or during an extended browsing sessions. Typically, the access point would stop broadcasting or the modem would disconnect from the ISP. In either case the router needs to be rebooted to restore service.
2) Once in a while the router would disconnect from the ISP, claiming network access denial. Attempts to refresh the connection never helped. Again, only a cold reboot works.
3) When rebooting the router, sometimes attempts by clients to access the router before it's ready may result in the routers loosing all configurations and going back to its default factory settings. This has happened to me several times!
You may encounter this situation if you have a network printer connected directly to the router, with DHCP enabled, and if you tend to turn on the printer before the router it's fully rebooted.
The danger here is that the router, in its default setting, has a SSID value of "linksys", with no wireless security, and administrative password of "admin" without a userid. The real danger here is that you may not know this has happened, as your computers (as well as strangers') depending on their wireless configuration would still connect - automatically. A stranger can actually lock you out of your network or steal your personal information.
I have since given up on my WCG200, and gone back using the ISP's modem with D-Link router.
Very poor product.......2007-12-15
If you have anything other than basic networking requirements don't buy this product. I found it couldn't deliver reliable wireless LAN - I had to buy a standalone wireless access point. It just doesn't seem to have the horsepower to be a modem, router and wlan. Even with the wlan turned off it still couldn't maintain a reliable cable connection to the internet.
Nice all-in-one unit!.......2007-12-06
I found this router easy to install and use, although the instructions could be misleading for the less experienced. It took Comcast far longer to set up thier part than it did for me to set up mine. This unit replaced a Linksys wireless-G router (WRT54G) and an older Motorola cable modem that was constantly dropping my connection in the middle of a download. I've had no such problem with the new setup. I've had this model running for over two weeks and the modem has not dropped its connection or reset once, contrary to some of the other reviews I've read.
The security features are an improvement over my old WRT54G and the ability to turn off the broadcast of your SSID is a very welcome addition. The wireless range is good with the stock antenna, and mine is located inside a 19 inch steel equipment rack in the farthest back corner of my house. I purchased the high-gain antenna kit and antenna stand, which allows me to set the antenna outside of the rack up to 6 feet away from the router, but I have not installed them so far. Note that you will lose some signal strength from the six foot antenna stand cable and connectors, but a net gain in signal strength can be achieved by better antenna placement. (In my case this means outside of the steel rack.) Also this device uses SMA antenna connectors, not the TNA connector that Amazon suggests under the "Better Together" section at the time of this writing. Based on my experience with this product so far, I would very much recommend it.
DROPPING CONNECTION.......2007-11-20
This router is the worst one i have ever seen, and I have seen many of them...
It has a design problem, the wireless connection drops of every 15-60 minutes, especially when there is a high bandwidth usage...
don't buy, even if it looks cheap and great, it's a swindle.
I warned you. You do what you want. But trust me: You don't want to return it one week later, pay restocking fees and all of that stuff.
You should buy instead 2 separate machines: one modem and one wireless router.
Great.......2007-11-12
This modem router works great for me non of the problems reported by other users. I hooked up the cable to called Time Warner to give them the MAC address, set up the security and bam I was surfing the internet. Works great for the XBOX 360 also and its all in one unit.

You're sitting in a restaurant with your friends. The TV in the corner is blaring. You realize that none of you are actually talking to each other. Instead, you're all staring at a piece of furniture!
Now there's a solution: the TV-B-Gone. This small keychain wonder is designed to turn off virtually any television. Invented by Mitch Altman, a former Silicon Valley entrepreneur, the TV-B-Gone is a simple remote control device with a single button. When activated, the unit emits 209 different turn-off codes for nearly every TV. The unit takes a little more than a minute to cycle through all of the turn-off codes, but fortunately, codes for the most common TVs are emitted first. And because it's small, unassuming, and attaches to your key ring, you can always be discreet about offing that off-putting talking head.
Just think, more authentic and meaningful social interactions can be yours in seconds. Be prepared when the TV goes off, though; you may have to talk to those friends of yours at the table. Of course, if it's just simple silence you're after, the TV-B-Gone delivers that, too. So pick up that book and enjoy!
What's in the Box
TV-B-Gone keychain remote control, increased sense of wellbeing, less anxiety, more time for productive activity, more satisfying social interactions, user's manual.

A really great toy........2007-11-15
This little gadget has been a lot of fun for me. I have gone to best buy, sports bars, and friends houses and confused a lot of people with it. I was at a party where some people were playing guitar hero on a big screen TV and I kept turning it off in the middle of their game. They got pretty pissed and finally gave up. They thought there were too many appliances plugged in at the same time. I really enjoy confusing people with this remote. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it would be nice if it had an off switch. I have wanted to stop it after if turned off a few tv's so I could aim it at others, but you have to wait for it to cycle through all of the codes before it shuts off automatically. That is my only complaint with it. I highly recommend buying one, or 20 of them.
Take back the Quiet!.......2007-07-21
Have you been to the mall lately? Or the grocery store or a restaurant or ANY PUBLIC PLACE at all recently? They're cramming them with TVs!
I'd been aware of this product for about two years. It looked like fun but I couldn't quite justify the twenty dollar price tag for a novelty. Once I became aware of the corporate worlds campaign to stamp out silence (unofficial, but you know what I'm talking about) I decided it was a matter of survival. So, I bought one.
I love it. It has empowered me to take control of my immediate environment back. I like TV. I watch it a lot. But I also have great respect for quiet contemplation and human interaction. Putting TVs everywhere is taking that away from us and supplanting product placement in it's stead.
This is the perfect tool to combat this trend. It works great, most any TV goes right off. Some take a little time but for most you don't even need to slow down. Pop!
Also fun for the creative miscreant. There's a big game on at the local watering hole and the home town is gonna score? Pop! (Authors note: Doing this might earn you a proper beating!)
The company that makes it is very honest about its capabilities; it does just what they say it will. TVs are everywhere and if you find yourself wishing you could have a little peace and quiet, this little guy gives you a choice.
Cool little toy.......2007-03-04
I purchased this for the sole purpose of having fun. It works very well, and I have yet to come across a telvision that won't respond. Even weird brands that I hadn't heard of previously turned on and off. Some advice to save battery life--run it in "stealth mode" in order to keep that little LED light from draining the battery. To do this you simply click the button twice and the light will flash once before it runs through the codes, and six times at the end to let you know that it has finished. A great product that results in happiness everytime!
Great Gift!.......2007-02-13
This product is a great gift for people in your life who enjoy to be annoying and obnoxious. I gave this to my friend who now enjoys turning off televisions in businesses and restaurants and waiting lobbies while snickering under his breath and getting a great deal of pleasure out of it.
Works, but seriously flawed.......2007-01-26
While the device works, it is seriously flawed in its design and functionality.
Flaw #5: The device should've looked more like a pen rather than a remote. This would've made it even less suspicious.
Flaw #4: It should've had a mini-USB port or Bluetooth to update its firmware or configuration file with codes for new TVs.
Flaw #3: It shouldn't have had a light on it at all, as it can be a give away. While it's true that the light can be largely prevented from blinking continuously by pressing the button twice, it really didn't need to exist at all. A better indicator would've been a vibrator like one in most cell phones.
Flaw #2: The button keeps getting pressed all the time with this device in my pocket. Due to this, my device needs a new battery after less than two months of rare usage. The button should've been designed a little more carefully.
Flaw #1: The signal emitted from the device lacks power. The device therefore does not work from a distance, such from across a hospital's large waiting room. It probably should've been five times as powerful.
It would also be nice if it had a second button which would simply mute the TV.
