Creative Muvo2 Mp3 Player.......2005-01-10
I have owned this player for over a year and so far I havent had any problems that most others have mentioned about, unit freezing up and trouble shutting down. Overall a simple straighforward easy to use device that suprisingly is durable and when 4gb is not sufficent space for you, the drive is removable (version 1.0 only) for your other compatible digital devices. The audio quality is excellent, especially when paired with good headphones (I use the Creative HN-505 noise cancelling headphones and recommend them) Another recommendation is to buy Notmad Explorer (Universal Edition if you own more than one Creative Labs Mp3 players)from Red Chair Software and you can avoid all the gripes about the software on reviews.
The gripes I have with this player are as follows:
1. The Lcd is small and hard to read
2. No built in Tuner or recorder (Must purchase seperately)
3. The buttons are too small and cant be accessed efficiently (easy workaround is to buy the wired remote)
4. The Creative case for this unit has no window to view the lcd or access the buttons without taking the player out of it.
5. The way the player stores the files on the harddrive is inefficient and is a bit of a chore to find (workaround is to create playlists)
Some of those points are minor to me but may be the ultimate difference to many. The main thing would be to buy the wired remote to gain fm radio and voice recording capability. Another plus is you wont need to fumble with the tiny buttons on the player and you can have the lcd on the remote within view that can be clipped on anywhere. Make sure that you download and install the latest firmware and drivers for Windows XP. Additional always check the Creative Labs website for the latest accessories such as the armband case, extended run time battery and car charger.
Overall there is nothing too big to fault in this player, It has substance, capacity, small form factor, doubles as a removable disk with drag and drop functionality, microdrive is removable, and the sound quality is excellent with more than adequate volume levels.
This is not the player for those of you that value style, if you want that buy an IPOD Mini. If you want something that is cheaper, better sounding and has a removable/user replacable battery then this is the player for you.
Difficult to use.......2004-12-29
My problem with this device, that I have just bought, is getting tracks into the correct order. The player plays tracks in alphabetical order, unless you manually adjust tags. One minute I'm listening to Bach, then to Red hot chilli peppers. Playlists are played in order, but the supplied software reorders tracks within artists alphabetically, meaning that without intervention it is impossible to keep albums in the correct order. This is crazy. Generally the operation of transferring and organizing content is poor to awful
THIS IS THE WORST PRODUCT I HAVE EVER SEEN.......2004-12-20
I bought the 4GB Creative mp3 player and it was delivered within 2 days: good start. I installed the software, transferred the songs, everything worked okay. I played it for 10 minutes (LITERALLY TEN MINUTES) sitting in my living room, and after 5 songs, it stopped playing. none of the buttons worked, it was frozen. I followed the directions on rebooting it 500 times, but nothing worked. I sat for two hours with the piece of junk trying EVERYTHING to fix it, and nothing worked. I should have known, you buy cheaper, you get cheaper. I should have gone with an ipod mini. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT OR YOU WILL IMMEDIATELY HAVE TO SEND IT BACK. I didn't heed the warnings from the reviews I read... I wish I had. what a disappointment.
Warning - if you're only buying for the 4GB Drive.......2004-10-13
I bought this product based on advice to raid the 4GB drive at half the price for my Sony F828 camera. It didn't work, giving a CF card error. Then I found that I'm not the first sucker to fall for that trick - I found several bulletin boards with messages from similarly disappointed people who tried the same thing. As far as I can see there's not a solution in sight. The same appears to apply to some other cameras.
HACK the $GB HardDrive.......2004-08-01
The 4GB Microdrive Hardrive alone is worth around 400 bucks and YES you can use it in some digital camera or as an external drive
just check the web for hack and fix ( must be formated using win2000)

Headphone jack problem.......2006-04-19
If you check the Creative Labs forum on their website you will see this product, among other Creative Labs items, have an extensive headphone jack problem where the sound becomes garbled unless you press into the jack or move it from side to side (and keep your finger there). I didn't know this was such a common problem among Muvo owners until I read all the other complaints. When I called customer service I spoke with some Indian guy who gave me the runaround and finally told me to buy a new one.
The best little Mp3 Player around!.......2006-02-11
I was given my MuVo2 Player for Christmas 2004 and since the day I got it I use it almost daily. Since I live in New York, there's a lot of subway and walking time involved and there is nothing more companionable than this little gadget. First of all, I have 800 of my favorite songs on it and didn't have to pay a dime for any of them. I just downloaded my favorite CDs onto my PC and voila! Done. It is small and conmpact and sturdy. It does not attract attention, hence, unlike the mighty and muched hyped iPod, the chances of it being stolen or worse, taken from me by force, are greatly diminished. I bought a case for it and granted the buttons are a little hard to manage if you have your player in the case, you have to take it out to change songs or whatever and the screen is tiny, but I figure that's a small price to pay. Just yesterday, my charger/adapter died and I made the stupid, stupid mistake of trying to charge my MuVo with another little electronic adapter from home - (DO NOT EVER DO THIS!) and fried the battery. Now, I have ordered another battery and hopefully I can find an adapter to see if I can get my little friend to work again. If I have fried its "innards" as well, I will buy another one exactly like it. Though Creative has come up with more updated products, I love this one so much, I will just get another MuVo2. It's the best Christmas present I've gotten in a long time. I just hope I can fix the one I have.

Well, I got this bad boy for Christmas(for myself; such a giving spirit no?), and everything works fine. The sound quality is pretty awesome, and so are the earphones that come with it. The only reason I gave this a four was because the installation CD was missing; then again, I guess that's what I get for ordering a refurbished 108$ one. But even so, the muvo works fine when you plug it into the usb. I also went to the creative labs website and downloaded some stuff to compensate for the lack of an install CD just to be safe. Real easy to use; just plug it in, then go to removable disk on My computer then drag and drop your music or anything really while minding the 4 GB of space(technically, it's more like 3.7-3.8ish; get over it). Overall, that 108 bucks I paid was MORE than worth it....(especially compared what people pay for that ipod)And 4GB of space for music(or whatever else)is more than enough for me, for now at least.

I really love my Nomad MuVo2. It has been a good m3 player for me. I have found I can cram around 2,250 songs on it, though I'm sure if you put the quality down even further you could get more on there(I personally can't tell MUCH difference in "great" quality vs. "okay" quality sound). I have been impressed with the quality of sound though. Mine didn't come with headphones. I was a little dissapointed in that, but that is no big deal. I have had the player for a little over 6 months, and I will confess to dropping it more than a few times and I am not as careful with it as I should be. It works like new. I also found that the volume is very impressive.
My only complaint is that you cannont scroll through looking for a certain song while still listening to another song. You have to go through songs like on a CD player. No big deal if you are used to a CD player. This is however, the reason, along with the fact that I can no longer fit all that I want to on the player, that I am looking into upgrading. Oh, I guess I was just kidding about only having one complaint... I also don't like the software much. Maybe that is just me. I use Realplayer and Windows Media Player instead. Not much of a big deal. The controlls also take a little getting used to, but after a while you will be able to navigate through your player with your eyes closed.
Broke after the Warranty.......2005-08-12
I was happy with this MP3 player as long as the warranty lasted. It broke at about 6 months. I never dropped it or subjected it to any unusual treatment. It just plain stopped working, wouldn't turn on. I called and was told I could pay $40 to have it fixed since the warranty was over. I said I'd think about it and call back. I called back a week later and they had no record of me or my call and now said it would cost $140 to fix. That was how much I payed for it in the first place. I have started looking online about what other people have said, and apparently they just break after around 6 months. What a coincidence about the warranty period. Would never buy from this company again.

Bad execution of a good idea.......2000-01-27
Cordless gaming is an excellent idea - admit it: the tangling cords are driving you insane ever since the day you took up gaming. Now look at what you will have to sacrifice to get to the cordless haven on Genesis: you will have to sacrifice the second controler port - the control node covers it; you will have to sacrifice quality of the control - this pad is nowhere as comfortable as the original; you will have to sacrifice a lot of money to treat the carpal tunnel you will probably develop because the system forces you to PERMANENTLY HOLD THE PAD DIRECTLY TOWARD THE TELEVISION. Lastly, you will still have to sit paifully close to the TV because the system has such a short range.
