Best remote for the price........2007-11-21
This is one fine remote and at a reasonable price. I love the logo based favorites channel list which will display as many as two hundred icons (two pages per user and ten users). If that's not enough you may custom label the on-screen titles for both the favorites list or for custom device commands to exactly match your original remote. The color screen is very bright and crystal clear sweet. :) I haven't yet set up any macro's but reading the short manual it should be easy to create all I will ever need.
All hard buttons and even the screen buttons can be "learned" (I didn't use any of the built in codes) from the original device remote. I completely cloned my Denon 3808CI receiver remote in about ten minutes. The remote has punch through however I fine it easier to simply "learn" the volume up/down (for my receiver) for all devices and/or any other commands that apply across several devices being used. Super simple to set up and customize this is a great remote.
The only cons I could fine are it would have been nice if Philips had designed the remote to turn on when picked up (you have to press any button to turn the display on), and the placement of the 'Mute" button should have been placed closer to the middle of the remote. I can't comment on battery life or longevity of the remote as I have only had it for a week.

I had a Philips Visa card for a while and has some points to use. It was the only thing I had enough points for other than a DVD player, which I didn't need.
I wasn't expecting much, but it has really impressed me. I currently have set up on it:

The channel favorites is absolutely awesome (can set up 20), and there is far less lag than when I was using my Tivo remote with the TV.
I wasn't able to find a stored code form my Toshiba HD-DVD A2, but if worst comes to worst, I can use the learing function of it.
For the money, it is a very good value.
