Could be great but poor build quality.......2007-12-21
My Daughter loves her Mix Max and I must admit that I had some fun with it trying to encode different videos. Unfortunately the build quality is lacking. After less than 20 hours of use, the play button and the MixIt button stopped working. Plugging in a video will play, but without a working play pause/button this device is pretty unusable. Unfortunately, before the play/pause button broke I bought I second one for my son for XMas. I'm now regretting that purchase.
OK, but not an IPod.......2007-12-11
We bought these for our kids (7 and 9) this year, but after using them for a few days we are going to trade them in for an Ipod Nano. The Nano is only about $50 more and the whole product is much better. What do I mean by the "whole product". Well, the Disney devices are nice, but the device is only half the story. The other half is the software that runs on the PC and the ease of buying and installing new digital media.
My kids wanted some of their TV shows on the device. While I can copy them from the Tivo to DVD to WMV format and then to the special WMV format required for the device, with an IPOD, I can just spend my $2 on I-tunes, download the video and be done. I'm amazed at how much easier ITunes is to use and buy music, videos and TV shows than the disaster that Microsoft calls Windows Media Player. Even Microsoft created their own replacement software for use with the Zune. Too bad Disney didn't follow suit.
I haven't even started to get into the accessories yet, another part of the "whole product". IPod has zillions. Disney ...
Bottom line is that if you want an easy to use, complete music, video, tv, movie solution, then get an IPod.
Had it for over a year and no complaints.......2007-11-28
We got this for our 9-year-old daughter last year for Christmas and it has worked perfectly. She only has one movie for it, but loves to use it as an MP3 player and it's a lot more kid-friendly than an ipod (plus it plays MP3's unlike ipod). We haven't had any problems with it at all. The only complaint I would have is that there are very few movies available for it and the ones that are available are expensive; however, this has nothing to do with the reliability or functionality of the player, so it gets 5 stars.
Unfortunately, not reliable. Wasted money........2007-11-12
Great concept, and our daughter loves it - when it works. Would be interesting to see the percentage of Mix Maxes that are functioning properly after 6 months of use.
Mix Max #1 had problems after 3 weeks - screen froze and the clock stopped at 5:33am. We were able to return it for an even exchange.
Mix Max #2 worked for 2 1/2 months, then it started having inermittent blank screens, the Disney card movies would not play ("file not supported" messages appeared) and the time locked at 5:33am. The center play button is not working properly - when pressed it does not always play until you find a "sweet spot" that it accepts.
Daughter was so attached to it that against better judgement we bought Mix Max #3. The 5:33 "feature" is still there. When you reset the time it appears correctly, but the first time you cycle the power - you are back to 5:33. After 3 1/2 months the intermittent blank screens started. 3 sides of the "mickey ears" used for navigation stopped working after about 4 months (1 hour in to a 7 hour airline flight), so now our daughter can only get music or a movie by reinserting a card and IF the autoplay decides to work. Disappointing since this was our third Mix Max and we bought accesories and all the movie/music cards with purchase #1.
We tried calling repeatedly for support for the issues with all 3 - were told each time that they "looking into" the problems, but have no fix and because we were outside the 90 days from initial purchase were out of luck as far as a replacement or exchange.
Great idea, cool features - if you get one that lasts longer than 3 months. Next time we will spend a more for a stable player from a company that supports their products. Only buy this if you do not mind having it break or have intermittent errors, and if you do not need reliable support or customer service.
Great for a 7 year old........2007-08-01
I gave this to my 7 year old boy who has been wanting an ipod. This is kid friendly, great screen, and easy to use. I can either download songs from websites such as URGE or buy the cards used for the device. He has movie cards also that he uses and the quality is excellent. Great device and would recommend to anyone!

Digital Tuning Meets Expectations.......2005-06-09
This is a tiny digital radio, including presets, at the 50-dollar price point. The size of a small bar of soap, the KA105 delivers crisp sound; it locks on stations; its AM reception is equal to its big brothers the Kaito 1101, 1102, and 1103.
But don't get this radio for shortwave. And don't get this radio for music. The speaker is too small to separate musical instrumentation. Talk radio is fine and that's what I'd limit this radio to. For a little more, you might be happier with the Kaito 1101. The latter sits with good stability on its stand whereas the 105 sits on a wobbly plastic slat that has a tendency to fall off.
I've had mine in the bathroom for over a year now and it pulls in the distant NPR Pasadena 89.3 with ease. For its limited use, it's quite effective. But I wouldn't buy it as an "everyday" radio.
If you need a little travel radio and you listen to talk, the KA 105 will be fine. But if you want musical fidelity, I suggest you upgrade to a Tivoli Audio Songbook, also a digital radio, for 160 dollars. If you want fidelity and don't mind analog tuning (with digital readout), you might look at the 99-dollar Grundig S350.

Solid.......2007-01-06
First off it worked great and is very nice looking (small). This is the cheapest HDMI switch with 5-port I found, but also the most expense video switch I ever bought also. Component switch only run between 20-50 buck. I use this to switch between the PS3 and DVD up-converter and it is very responsive. Got quick delivery from lusopc.
The manufacture is Monoprice and HDMI Switcher is just the product name. A couple of other manufactures use this same hardware, just slapping their own brand on it. My TV is a 32" Vizio displaying 1080i and see no image lost at all. HDMI 1.3 cable and switch are compatible with older version. Only the devices (PS3, stero reciever) that output that need to be 1.3 compatible. This is not like the USB upgrade to USB2.
