another disappointing HP scanner.......2007-09-10
I write and sell software to control TWAIN scanners, and many of my customers write document scanning applications, so this review is specifically from that point of view. After years of frustrating experience, we tell our customers to avoid all HP scanners because of their 'whimsical' TWAIN drivers. I was excited that the N6010 might be a new day for HP in document scanning, and I know my market would love an ADF scanner at this price point.
Sigh - no such luck. We experienced the same paper-feeding problems as other reviewers reported, feeding 2 and sometimes 3 or 4 pages together. This is *not* inevitable - our Canon DR-2080C and Fujitsu fi-5110C almost never do this, the N6010 did it frequently. It was clear after a few hours of testing that we could not recommend this model to our customers.
Drilling down a level, the N6010's TWAIN driver is better than many HP drivers we seen, but has at least one egregious bug and several minor ones. The driver cannot have been written or tested by anybody familiar with the TWAIN standard. I'm sure it works with the in-box software, and I assume they tested it with some popular scanning applications. But I wouldn't assume it will work with any scanning application it hasn't been specifically tested with.
If HP fixed the driver bugs (quite easy) and the feeding problems, this would be a standout product in its class.
Great Scanner!.......2007-09-10
I bought this scanner because our office was going virtual so at least 100 files needed to be scanned in from the past and then everyday business. It took me about 12 hours to scan over 100 files...which had many pages per file. The scanner works really well, does a great job. Every once in a while I had to turn it off and on because it became unrecognizable...or it could have been the computer. The scanner is suppose to duplex....I set all teh settings for duplex but it doesn't do it...this would be my only compliant. I'm not sure if I am missing something but I am pretty computer savy and found where it said to switch from single to duplex and it still doesnt do it. The scanner doesnt come with the best manual either......it's mostly just how to install it which is really easy. Over all I enjoy the scanner, it's really fast, hasn't jammed for me yet, gets the job done...my only wish is that the duplexing would work. If you are looking for a scanner that is like this for a cheap price then this is the one you should get....i love it! :)

2 problems, only one seems fixable.......2007-06-09
As other reviews have noted, there are 2 fundamental problems with this scanner.
1-Eats paper. Yes it does, but as annoying as it can be, it's not too frequent, and anybody who really thought they would be able to just stuff pages in, hit scan and then walk away have obviously never spent much time dealing with computers and peripherals.
2-Crappy software. The software's actually quite good, when it decides to work. By my assumption, this is fixable, HP just need to update the software, something they haven't done yet (still at version 1.0 as of this writing). Once they address that, I could see this being a 4-star rating, but until they do, this product just produces constant headaches here in the office.

Splits Video, not Audio.......2007-10-15
This splitter works well if all you want to split is the video portion of the HDMI signal. If you want the audio as well, skip it, it does not do it.
Can I use this to get source from two devices and output to TV?.......2007-08-29
Based on the product description and reviews, it looks like, it takes one input (say from TV) and displays on two monitors. I am wondering can I use it in a reverse way like get source from Cable and DVD (one at a time) and display on TV. Will there be any signal loss? Do I need to go for a HDMI Switch?

Poor product performance.......2007-08-24
I rounded my 1 and a 1/2 star assessment up to two stars based on the fact that it has the parts to connect two 1080i or 1080p tv sets with HDMI cables to a hi-def satellite receiver that just has a single HDMI port. In practice, though, I found that the two hi-def tv sets couldn't play both HDMI-quality sound and picture simultaneously. It just didn't work. Also, HDMI cables didn't fit snugly into the splitter.
No luck splitting to Samsung HDTV and to Onkyo Receiver.......2007-04-20
I thought this would be the perfect solution. I have the hi-def signal coming out of my HD DVR via HDMI and going into my Onkyo receiver. Before the splitter, I had to have the receiver on anytime I wanted to watch TV (pass-through only worked when receiver was on). With the splitter I had hoped to be able to pass the HD signal directly to the TV and then only use the audio through the receiver for sports, movies, etc.
The signal coming through the splitter was too weak to be able to be picked up by my Samsung HDTV. I figured this was a $16 gamble that was worth the shot, but unfortunately the splitter did not provide the two full-strength signals I required. (It did provide one signal that worked well enough to be picked up by the TV or the receiver, but not two.)
Digital Cable/DVD connection.......2007-03-13
Splitting the digital cable HDMI port to two powerd on TVs resulted in an "HDMI intrusion" error from the box. The error remained in the foreground covering most of the screen but there was a good picture behind the error screen on both TVs. Splitting the HDMI connection from the DVD player to two powered on TVs resulted in a good display on one TV and poor display on the other (Wavey Lines). The splitter would work well for using only one display powered on at a time.
