The Quest 2's control pad has been designed to make it easy to make selections and switch between modes, allowing you to keep your eyes on the road. The bright, 2.2-by-1.5-inch display is readable in bright sunlight and features 240 x 160 pixel resolution. Both the display and the keypad are backlit for night driving. An included speaker attachment that is built into the 12-volt cigarette lighter adapter enables the Quest 2 to deliver voice prompts, while an internal rechargeable lithium-ion battery delivers 20 hours of power when you're outside your vehicle. A flip-up antenna that communicates with up to 12 GPS satellites is provided, as is a USB port for PC connectivity. There's also an MCX-type connector for hooking up an optional external GPS antenna. And if you need waterproofing, the Quest 2 is up to the challenge; it meets IEC 60529 IPX7 standards, which means it's submersible in one meter of water for up to 30 minutes.

You can choose between a map view or a trip computer mode that provides a large speed display, odometer, stopped time, moving average, overall average, total time, max speed, and more. The Quest 2's route planner lets you save 50 routes and preview all the maneuvers you'll need to make on a given route. Plus, you can automatically sort multiple destinations to provide an efficient route for deliveries and sales calls. Or if you know where bad traffic exists, you can tell the device to avoid certain areas. And with the Quest 2's One-Button Home feature you can find the quickest route home no matter where you are.
Another time- and frustration-saving feature of the Quest 2 is the database of preloaded maps and points of interest. Gone are the days of uploading partial maps from your computer to your GPS device: the Quest 2 has them all built in. The unit comes preloaded with Garmin's highly detailed City Select NT street data of the entire United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. Finding points of interest along your route is made easy with the Quest 2's huge built-in database of nearly six million hotels, restaurants, gas stations, ATMs, and attractions. Garmin has also made it easy for users to upload custom points of interest via a PC, as well as up to 500 waypoints with names, categories, comments, and graphic symbols. Last but not least, the Quest 2 has 140 MB of extra storage space for uploading supplemental Garmin map products like U.S. Topo, U.S. Recreational Lakes with Fishing Hot Spots, and BlueChart.

Garmin Quest II Handheld GPS
I don't normally write reviews but felt compelled to comment on this unit.
I have several garmin gps', I am usually an early adapter, I understand tech. This unit is an EMBARRASSMENT to an otherwise outstanding company.
Yes I read the reviews here and other places, flashed the firmware, updated the software, deselected non-relevant maps. I then called Garmin because, compared to other Garmin units I own, this operated so poorly I was convinced there was a hardware defect.
Tech support (US Based!) was VERY helpful and finally decided to send me a brand new unit. Unfortunately that unit was just as awful.
I tried to like it. I tried to tell myself it was me. It wasnt.
Time spent with upper level tech support led to a resolution I was very happy with. The unit was REPLACED WITH A DIFFERENT MODEL. I am not going to go into the details because Garmin was very gracious when, at the end of it all, they really didn't have to be.
So:
Kudos to Garmin for generally making GREAT products.
This is NOT one of them, regardless of what anyone else says.
Thank you to Tech support for doing the right thing.
A warning to you - DO NOT BUY THIS UNIT. Get a different Garmin.

Quest is a great portable unit. Just a warning to you all that after three years of use I had my first screen lock up and this happened of course during a trip navagation. Be sure to carry your map as an emergency.
I fixed the lock up by unscrewing the unit and unplug-replug the two separate power-cpu connectors inside.

This is a great device. You just plug it in to the car lighter, put the holder attachment to the windshied, and turn on , and you are ready to navigate.
It works in the vehicle and out. The instructions are clear. it is FUN to use. Whenever i use it I find something new with it. The voice is very pleasing to the ears and the Garmin Quest is very accurate.
Garmin Quest II.......2007-07-30
I have owned many handheld and car GPSs over the past 15 years, many Garmins and a few from other manufacturers. This one is the best. Handsdown. Very good battery life, and since it comes pre-loaded with all the roads in the USA there is no need to fuss with Garmin's very quirky (read difficult to load and get running) software. This one works great in your car with the lady telling you where to go and what to do, and it also works great as a hand held. I recommend it with no reservations.

This unit has everything I was looking for in a GPS nav.Preprogramed detailed maps,portability and ability to operate independent of any external connections.Additionally,the thing fits in my shirt pocket.Suction mount is secure and adjustable.Speaker is crisp,vioce is understandable and not too annoying.I do not use the verbal feature.Map drawing is more then acceptable,but could be faster.Same goes for reroute time.Purchased it through the market place.Got a great deal

You have a quality cable here. No complaint for the length. What else do you need? One star off since it is from Monster Cable. This cable is not that bad, but come on... why do all the cables from Monster Cable have to be so expensive?

Compact, Minimal, Efficient Shelf Stand.......2007-10-14
Overall this is a well designed product that does the job it was designed for in an efficient and unobtrusive way. The one problem with the design is that the rear feet are two small diameter leveling screws... Instead of bare metal the heads of these should be nylon and much larger diameter to protect the floor or carpet. The front feet, by contrast, are large and made of nylon for good protection. The assembly instructions are rather cryptic, and the illustrations are tiny and dark... hard to read. I have uploaded some photos to amazon so as to show various stages of assembly that are puzzling (but Amazon scrambled the sequence of these fotos, so they are not in order). Be sure to start all screws carefully because this is soft aluminum alloy, and you don't want to cross thread the screw holes! I have also uploaded a photo showing physical dimensions of the shelves. In summary, large receivers and Blu-Ray DVD players will fit with room for the cables in the back. There is a 50 pound load limit per shelf, except on the bottom shelf. I did cuss a bit during the assembly process, but the finished product is great.
Beautiful Design.......2007-03-22
Assembly was a little tough (turning the bolts) but it is a great little cantilevered design which adds to and simplifies a decor. The open design allows for the task of connecting the maze of cables from tv, satellite, dvd, stereo, vcr, and surround sound speakers. The hollow support frame does a great job of concealing the bundle of cables.
