My daughter received a mix stick for Christmas as a gift and it completely stopped working in May. I called Disney and was informed they would replace it but I had to pay $30.00 for the new one. I would expect a $50.00 product to last more than 4 months...furthermore, Disney can certainly afford better customer service. I will not buy this product again!
Great mp3 player for adults at a huge savings!.......2006-08-15
I got my husband the black, "Pirates of the Caribbean" version (although he wanted the Pooh after I told him the choices I had) for his 35th birthday. Priced at $49, but I got it on sale from Disney online for $39.99 with a $20 coupon code if you spent $50. I ordered the grey "boys" case ($12.99) all for $32.98 (and free shipping)!
This is a fantastic deal for someone who wants an mp3 player but doesn't want to shell out $200 for an iPod. Sign up for the Disney store online e-mail notices and see what sales they come up with. Even if you pay full retail, at $49.99 the stick player is a savings over the others. Closer to the holidays, I'm sure the price will drop or Disney will have another on-line sale.
The case has a spot for the stick player, has a metal cip and holds 4 SD cards, so you can have a total of 5-512 meg with you at the same time (2.5GB + onboard mem ~ 3GB player). With the cost of the 512 SD cards so low (about $15 to $20 depending on where you shop online), this is a viable option vs the iPod Nano or mini.
Disney now makes the black "Nightmare Before Christmas" in addition to the neutral silver with the Disney "D". They also have "girl" colors (pink princess, fuschia Raven, purple Tink) or the yellow Pooh, red Mickey and the red "Cars", so you can indulge your inner Disney. Put it in the neutral slim grey case and clip it to your belt or purse, so one will know (unless you have pink earbuds)!
Disney offers a line of accessories including clip on headphones and a docking station (if you want a black one, you have to order from Best Buy's online store) but I think general accessories that fit the iPod Shuffle and other stick mp3 players should fit.
I think this is a very good product for an inexpensive alternative to a "grown up's" mp3 players that can run $200+ for the 1 to 3GB range, depending on brand. Memorex did a very good job with this player and Disney is targeting the pre-teens but ut will work for an "adult" who doesn't mind the Disney brand.

both my girls ( 6 and 9 yrs ) love having their own music along on trips. we can add to the memory, plus we buy the disney jam chips that play in it. it charges in the computer. and they think it's cute.

Hello, everyone. I own a Mix Max but not this design. I like the Mix Max because you can download (or is it upload?) songs from a wide variety of places such as from CDs, iTunes and many other places. You can also put in Mix Clips, which are the little memory cards that work with Mix Sticks. It works like an IPod and is alot cheaper. I don't know why everyone says it's not a very good product. IT'S AWESOME!!!!!!! All my friends want one. The Mix Max can also play videos and store photos. This product is definetly worth the money. It's what you expect from Disney. BUY ONE!! BUY ONE!!!! (Great for moms who don't want their little kids playing with IPods.)

Like the other reviewer, this was exactly our experience! The screen freezing and the clock stopping at 5:33am, "file not supported" messages appearing, and ALSO calling Memorex repeatedly for support (they did not help). Disney would not exchange because we were also past the 90 day period. Unfortunately, we had ordered the Mix Max two months before Christmas and kept it hidden for my daughter. So after one month of problems, they would not exchange for another and sent us generated replies to our inquiries. We were very disappointed and we wish we had bought her an ipod instead!

This is a fantastic concept, and our daughter loves it, when it works.
The first Mix Max had problems after 3 weeks - screen froze and the clock stopped at 5:33am. I was able to return it for an even exchange.
Second Mix Max worked for 2 1/2 months, then it started having inermittent blank screens, the Disney card movies would not play ("file not supported" messages appeared) and the time locked at 5:33am. The center > play button is not working properly - when pressed it does not always play until you find a "sweet spot" that it accepts.
We have tried calling Memorex repeatedly for support - they are "looking into" the problems, but have no fix and because we are out of the 90 days from initial purchase we are out of luck as far as a replacement or exchange.
Great idea, cool features - if you get one that is not a lemon. Our only option at this time is to gamble another $100+ for a new one to see if we get lucky and get one that works for over a few months. Not likely - will probably spend a more for a more stable player.

Does this item come with it's own remote, or do you have to have a compatable samsung flat panel tv, and control the mount via the samsungs tv's remote? Some websites are reporting a remote is in the box and others don't, but the samsung auto mount I ordered several months back from b&h photo made you purchase a samsung television in order for it to work. I was wondering if they revised this and are now including a seprete remote for owners of other non samsung televisions and want to use the motorized fetures of this item.
