Shouldn't be called a CALLER ID phone.......2007-11-29
I am replacing this phone, as the display is extremely hard to read. By the time I can decipher who's calling, it's about time for voicemail to pick up. Over the last few months, the caller ID apparently is displaying the number of whoever called LAST time -- i.e., is not displaying who's actually calling at the moment. (Our other Caller ID phones work fine.) Maybe there's a battery that needs replacing somewhere, but I've never had to fool with that in any phone I've ever owned.

This phone is perfect for our extra phone in case of power outage. It is also a good phone to leave in the family room for teenagers because no one can walk away with it! It has good sound, etc.

I bought this telephone at Target because our kitchen cordless phone kept "disappearing" and I wanted a corded phone with caller id. The problem is the phone won't stay on the base when mounted on the wall. Does anyone else have this problem? Is there an adapter? A backlight would be helpful too. It's difficult to read the display. Other than that, it's a good telephone for 9.99!

Works very fine, speaker phone has bad sound. I have some conflicts with my bluetooth drivers in Windows Vista that i need to choose correct devices (mic, speaker) on every call.

This phone means you only need one piece of cordless equipment to call and receive calls from your landline contacts and your skype contacts. Removes the need for separate mic and headphone set ups.
Does What It Should - And Does It Well!.......2007-06-28
Edited: After using this phone for a while longer, there are a few things I really like and a few that are a big annoyance:
GRIPE: SkypeOut calls use a different method than standard calls. You have to type 00+1+Area+Phone then hit the Skype (not talk!) button. Other phones, like the Netgear phone, let you use both SkypeOut and the regular line the standard way: Area code + phone + Talk.
GRIPE: Caller ID shows the phone number only, even though they're in your contacts and the name shows on the computer. Same with redial.
LIKE: Since the phone plugs into your computer, you can click a contact on your computer and it will ring your phone. This is essential for us because we'll often answer a call on the phone, but use Pamela on the computer to transfer the call. This isn't possible with PC-less phones.

We've been using this phone for a few weeks in our office, and I'm happy with the phone so far. We specifically chose a phone that could support both Skype and a regular phone line, and one that plugged into the computer instead of the router (which would cause far too many issues in our network).
It was very easy to set up, but we did have an issue with the sound settings. We weren't able to get the sound settings to allow both Skype and our speakers. I sent a message to US Robotics support about the problem, and haven't gotten a response after TWO WEEKS! We figured it out eventually on our own, but the only response we got was a survey on how well they answered our question.
If you're having the same problem, don't follow the settings in the user guide. Here's what we did:
Control Panel > Sounds
Audio Tab: Chose SoundMAX Audio for playback, USR Skype for recording
Voice Tab: Chose USR Skype for both
Aside from the poor service from US Robotics, I still think this was a good purchase. The sound quality is crisp, the range is the same as our standard cordless phone, and the handset is fairly comfortable to use.

My USRobotics Skype equipped, cordless phone does everything I expected it to do. It is great to be able to walk around and do other things while I am using the phone, as opposed to being tethered to my computer while I talk. I have 4 other cordless phones in use on the same phone line and the sound quality is great, whether I am talking through Skype or through my phone company. I'm not a geek, but I found the entire installation process to be quite simple.
