The feedback that I got was that the phone was really clear and the battery life was adequate. They've actually had the phone about a year now and no problems. I believe this is a great choice.

I have had several Panasonic phones which were very good. Unfortunately, this phone is the worst cordless phone I have ever owned. DO NOT BUY ONE!!! I have turned up the volume on the handset to its highest setting. You can barely hear on it. Everyone just calls on the cellphone. Guess I will have to try another brand.

this is my fist time purchasing a factory refurbished product. i have to say that i am very pleased. the phone arrived not in the original box, but instead, in a generic manufacturers box and was poorly packed. i was glad to see that everything was there, including the owners manual. i was disappointed to learn of the 90 day warranty and not the original 1 year warranty that is typical with a new product. maybe that's why the refurbished product was half the originals price. i was a bit concerned, when i placed my order, due to the reviews i read on this phone. i'm not sure what the other reviews are talking about. the volume and voice quality on this phone are very good. this is my fourth Panasonic phone in 10 years (2 for my own personal use and 2 as gifts). Panasonic makes a fine product and i have never been disappointed. this factory refurbished phone performed just as well as a new one, but at half the price.

Easy Setup
The WG511 is a PC Card and requires a Pentium class PC with an available 32-bit CardBus slot for installation. It supports Windows Vista and is also compatible with Windows XP, 2000, 98SE, and Me. Setup is as simple as inserting the card into the slot and installing the included software. A built-in stub antenna helps you receive a strong signal for the fastest possible speeds.
Fast and Secure
The NETGEAR WG511 supports the 802.11g protocol standard for speeds up to 54 Mbps and a longer range than previous-generation 802.11b adapters. With a good connection, you'll notice the difference right away as you'll be able to stream high-quality music without any hiccups and load videos much faster. Downloading files is up to five times faster than it was with 802.11b. Since 802.11g is also interoperable with 802.11b, you don't have to worry about whether or not you'll get a connection at specific airports and hotspots; the WG111US will automatically detect the network and allow you to connect to it at the highest speed possible.

Broken After 2 Weeks.......2007-11-18
Worked well for 2 weeks. It was connected to my laptop, which was running Ubuntu Linux, though I doubt that was the problem in this case. During its life, I noticed that it was running on the hot side. That might have been the factor in its death.
I purchased the card refurbished with a warranty for about $20. After it broke, I did not want to go through the bother of contacting their customer service department and following their frustrating return process. For $20, I am not going to cry about it.
My final thoughts: After so many failures of my purchased Netgear equipment, I don't believe I will ever be buying their stuff any more. It might have been that the card was faulty, but in the scope of all the Netgear equipment that I have bought in the past couple of years, almost all of them were faulty or were buggy (except for when Netgear built quality units with the blue steel casings... Netgear has really gone downhill quickly).

Netgear continues to impress me, the product installed quickly and painlessly. I'm no computer geek, but I can find my way around pretty well and I didn't even have to open the instructions.
It works with my 802.11b access point with no issues what so ever.

Works great in "Hot Spots" - always get a least 80% signal strength with 11Mbps conection, and in my home office with NETGEAR WG614 router/access point - within 50 metres 90-95% signal strength through 3 walls with 54Mbps connection!

WPA security does NOT work with this card!!.......2007-12-21
I own a WG511v2 and unfortunately suffer from the same problem afflicting many users on the NETGEAR support forums. The WPA security does not consistently work with this card, instead for reliable connection you must use the less secure WEP security.
Using WPA (with this card in my Sony Vaio PCG-GR370) my connection might stay active for several hours. But it suffers from random bouts of disconnecting and scanning all the channels for your router. Despite two other computers (Macbook and Dell Latitude D620) on the same network maintaining a connection with their factory installed internal wireless cards.
