I used to spend a lot of money for calls to Morocco. this is my first time using Skype. I bought the unit a month ago and all I can say is wonderful adventure! light phone. easy setup and big saving. driving anywhere around the city (in the US), the phone connects to any nonsecure wifi network. with SkypeIn, I was able to talk to the world free and clear. so the phone passed the first test.
And of course, nothing is perfect but GOD, the phone has some drawbacks: it lacks design: it looks like a toy phone. with this price they should have designed something nice & "chic".
I tried to connect at public WiFi spots (airport, cafe) but couldn't. the phone detects the network but doesn't connect.
while in Morocco, the phone connects to any open network easily. I stayed in touched with my wife and friends in the US. the sound quality is very weak (maybe this is only with my phone since nobody complained about this issue in the reviews) so I had to use the speakerphone to be able to communicate.
however the advantages outweights the disadvantages.
I feel bad all the money spent on long distance bills. I guess if you don't try something you won't know it.
Best of all, I left the phone to my parent, came back from the trip and now I call them every day: FREE.
you won't be dissapointed.I strongly recommend it!

I like this product, system setup is easy and sound quality is good, unfortunately I can't join wireless networks which require web browser authentication. If somebody know how to deal with this please let me know.

I originally bought this SKYPE phone system to work with when I travel, but I decided to try it out first in my home office. The build quality is what you'd expect from Panasonic; system setup is easy; the sound quality is excellent. Although I still have my land line, I very rarely use it for making phone calls....it's just a fax line now & I've dropped my second fax only line. As I make a lot of long distance & international calls, SKYPE in combination with this system has reduced my outgoing call costs by at least 90%, averaging $3 per call-hour. If you have an home office, you can really reduce your call costs without giving up call quality. This Panasonic system is a must have asset in my office now...so I'm buying another sysem to use when I travel.

As claimed, everything is packaged nicely in a great little traveling case.
The router worked right out of the box. It's range isn't as wide as a full sized dual antenna router, but that is to be expected for such a compact unit.
The surprise was the phone itself. Excellent at connecting to any wifi network out there. I was impressed at it's range and the quality of calls.

This unit is just what i wanted. The real test is how does it sound to the person on the other end. The sound is very clear and better than I expected. The set up is very simple and easy to understand. This is not a for primary use but a very nice secondary. It is also great for someone traveling internationally. It is a but pricey but so are standard cell phone bills. This can cut your cell bill down by 30% a year. I think this is the first of a new generation of WiFi Skype phones. Panasonic did a nice job. Strongly suggest buying a case for phone other than traveling case

i recently purchased the above item and in turn received another remote in its place after the seller emailed me back to say this is not the item anymore, but i am now out of $16 for an item i don't want, so this is not the item you're purchasing!

I am really happy to have found this remote to consolidate and replace remotes for all of my devices. I have a Pioneer large screen TV, Sony VCR , Panasonic DVD, and Magnavox DSS Satellite. This remote works great on all of them! It even shows the info on Satellite.

I bought this remote as a replacement for one I broke. I have a Proscan television. Proscan is a company affiliated with RCA. This remote works great. There are a few extra buttons I rarely use, but I don't mind. This remote even works with my JVC boom box. I can't do as many things as I can with original JVC remote, but I can at least play CDs. You should really only buy this remote if you own RCA products. If need a remote for any other of the major brands, buy a more generic remote.
Guide / Info buttons only work with DSS/Dish Network SAT.......2002-04-28
Attention digital cable subscribers, steer clear of this one. While it has buttons for guide and info, they only work when you are in "Dish" mode. The light doesn't even flash on this remote when you are in cable mode for these buttons! Ludicris! Luckily I bought mine from best buy, so I didn't have to pay shipping to send it back. :( Plus, it's large and ugly... 'Nuff said!
