Pwetty Good.......2006-09-30
Got one a year ago on closeout at MalWart for around $16. WIsh I'd gotten more of them. It has worked very well, better than a couple of similarly cheap V-Techs that I also got. Clear sound, usable buttons / user interface; LCD smallish but no worse than others. Compact charging station can wall-mount. Stubby antenna hasn't broken. Not too large or small. Belt clip. I like the metallic-blueish/black color design - personally, it makes me look a lot sexier than I really am. Th-th-th-that's all, folks.
A Pretty Decent Phone.......2005-11-25
I got this phone about a year ago and haven't had many problems with it. Yes, the other reviews are correct: The phone does not always display the caller ID. It will intermitently display "NO DATA". I have a feeling that it has to do with other phones picking up the caller ID first though. I have DISH network hooked to my phone line and if the GE phone does not display the caller ID, the DISH will pick it up and display it on the TV.
Overall, the phones voice quality is acceptable. The only thing I don't like about it is that if you want to change the volume of your voice, the earpiece gets loud also. I think it's that way for all phones though.
The battery life is more than acceptable. I leave it off the charger base for 4-5 days at a time.. When it dies I just leave it on the base over night and its good for another 4-5 days. Ive never replaced the battery.
The range is not as good as some of the 900MHz phones I've had but it suits its purpose: Works throughout my house and in my yard with a little static about 100 feet out. Its a home phone, not a cellular!
Don't buy this........2005-08-01
I should have checked the reviews on this phone before purchasing, as I would have discovered that many people have experienced exactly what I'm going through now. The problem is that the caller ID works intermittently at best. If you're looking for a phone with caller ID, you will be extremely disappointed.
Botton's died after less then a year........2005-06-21
I had this phone more then a year. I must admit it kept better then the other garbage that ATT, V Teck, Motorola and the others put out on the market these days. The signal was strong, clear sound, etc. However, after just over half a year the #7 and then the 8 started fluctuating and then not functioning at all, so whenever I needed to dial my mother (who has an 8 in her phone number) I found myself looking for the other phones or pressing the digit very hard...!
In other words: this is also a garbage like the other stuff out there in the market. I went for a Panasonic, which is the only one out there I believe has decent quality.
dont get this phone.......2005-04-01
I got this phone May 2004. It worked great, at first. About 3 months after I bought it, It would die in 20 minutes. Even if I had it on the charger all day. I do not recommend this phone.
Also, I saw it at Best Buy for under $10.

Customer Reviews:
Expensive and highly unreliable.......2006-01-22
We purchased this machine several years ago, new, for ~$350. Considering how sparingly we used this boat anchor, it had a voracious appetite for ink. Since the ink came in a tri-color cartridge, when one color ran out you had to pitch them all.
Once we didn't use it for 2 weeks (on vacation) and when we returned we found that the cyan print head had completely clogged and the blue had partially clogged. Heavy amounts of cleaning would help, but the heads would just clog up again in another couple of days. So; in less than 1 year our color printer became a monochrome printer. That was until a few weeks later when the internal power supply fried and this thing would only emit a high pitched squeal. For the money we paid I'd expect better quality. My next multi-function will be a Canon PIXMA. My father in-law has had one for a year now and absolutely loves it. Separate cartridges for each color too.
HP laser jets are OK, except for their tendency of developing a multi-page feed problem after a year or so, but their ink jet printers are pretty bad. Stay away from this one.
Wonderful WHEN IT WORKED!.......2005-04-21
I purchased the d145 in January 2003; approximately two months after the one year anniversary of the purchase (and the end of the warranty period), it ceased to function. Having owned at one time or another : a Lexmark X73, a Compaq bubble jet BJC-600 and a Brother laser MFC 4550, and NEVER having had a problem with any of them more serious than a paper jam, I suppose I was defying the odds when I elected not to purchase the warranty upgrade. I thought HP was just a reliable as some of the others; now other wiser individuals tell me they have faced similar problems with HP, namely breakdown of one part or another just after warranty expires.
Specifically, whether from a computer copy or from the copy function itself, it became impossible to complete anything without the message "Scanner System Failure" appearing as the machine shut down. For a time I was able to trick it in to making a single copy by shutting it down, then turning it back on fast. However, soon even that "trick" no longer worked. Of course, all the troubleshooting hints failed as well. At one point I even thought perhaps the room was too cool for the printer and went so far as to swaddle it in blankets! That generated two copies!!
I finally got around to calling about printer repairs, having pressed the Brother back into action, but the answer is almost universal, that for an ink jet it is usually cheaper to buy a new one than to repair an old one. A laser printer is far easier to repair, I am told, as the parts are easier to access.
My advice, if you want to buy the hp d145 do so ( it WAS wonderful when it worked), but protect your investment, buy the extended warranty.
danger will robinson!!!!.......2005-02-11
this is a terrible machine. it is the noisiest piece of equipment we have ever purchased. it eats toner. it feeds paper 2, 3, 4 or more pieces at a time, especially if copying on reverse side. it goes thru so many motions to print one copy that you almost forget what you were there for. when working from computer it reduces copy to one tiny corner of paper for no reason, in the middle of a run. it is a piece of junk and we will replace it as soon as we can get over the 500 bucks we were ripped off. the only guarantee we can give is that we will NEVER buy an hp item again!
Worst product to work on macintosh.......2004-06-08
I bought D145 a year ago and despite rares drivers update it's still using 25-50% off CPU even when not printing, i can't scan and it's so slow to print. Don't buy HP product for mac !
Ink RipOff.......2004-02-05
I should have done more research into HP printer cartridges before I invested in this MFC. I run a small business and need a reliable, cost-effective printer. In order to save a significant amount of money, I use refilled cartridges. HP has put a time bomb in its cartidges by setting an expiration date on the cartidge. Even if the cartridge is still full! It totally stops working with no override available (there is an override for the ink level for refilled cartridges). Thier explanation for this is to protect us from degraded ink...The real reason is to force you to purchase expensive new ink cartidges at regular intervals whether you need them or not. It is interesting that they only do this on business oriented machines and not on the cheaper consumer models. The cheap machines must not need the "protection" from a degraded ink. I guess if ink costs per page is not an issue and having a ready supply of recently purchased ink cartriges on hand is within your budget, then this is the unit for you.
This thing is history!
