Outfitted with a pair of cordless handsets and a digital answering system, the remanufactured EXAI-5588-2 cordless phone system is a great fit for mid-sized households. The system operates on the 5.8 GHz frequency, which is able to offer clearer, more intelligible reception than cordless phones working on the more-crowded 900 MHz or 2.4 GHz bands. More significantly, the system's dual handsets mean you won't have to run to the downstairs phone each time the phone rings. Simply locate one handset upstairs and the other downstairs and you're set.
The phone's caller ID/call waiting function (subscription required) displays the name and number of an incoming caller even when you're on the phone with someone else. This function is particularly useful for busy phone users who anticipate important calls but don't want to interrupt their conversations unless absolutely necessary. In a related vein, the phone also offers a 30-number caller ID memory and 10 speed dial presets for your most frequently called numbers. And thanks to the display-and-dial function, all you have to do to call a stored number is scroll to the number and press the Talk button.
The digital answering system, meanwhile, employs microchip technology--no cassettes or moving parts--to deliver crisp, easy-to-decipher messages time and again. Voice prompts help guide you through setup, while play/stop, skip, delete, and repeat keys make it simple to navigate through the messages. Other answering system features include 13 minutes of recording time, a selectable one- or four-minute maximum message length, memo recording, a new message indicator, and remote message retrieval.
The EXAI-5588-2 also includes independent ringer and volume controls, a handset-to-handset call transfer function (lets you route incoming calls from one handset to the other), a page button that helps you find a misplaced handset, and a last number redial. The handsets are even wall-mountable, providing you with extra placement options. And as a bonus, each handset supports both separately sold headsets (for hands-free communication) and hearing aids.
As with all Uniden remanufactured phones, the EXAI-5588-2 is backed by a 30-day limited warranty.

Call quality is poor.......2007-03-17
I have had these phones for a few months and we are already replacing them. The audio quality is very poor and you are constantly asking the caller to repeat things or speak up. There is also a steady white noise in the ear piece.
Look elsewhere, these are not worth it.
Great Product!!!.......2006-11-05
The telephones are great and were brand new. I received them in a timely manner. I would definitely purchase again from the seller!
Thanks!!

One of the best technology purchases I've made.......2007-12-29
This has been hands-down the best performing printer I've owned including several inkjets, laser printers, and all-in-ones. All of the functions work as advertised with nary a glitch or jam, including the ADF and duplex feature.
The software took a long time to install, but it does work well for the features I use. In particular, you will need the HP Director to do multi-page scanning to PDF using the ADF(which works very well).
Only negative for me is that the photo printing isn't spectacular and it's not easy to get quite right on 4x6 photo paper but it's reasonable. I suggest this as a good printer for home office or small business, not photo printing.
good printer, medicore "all in one".......2007-12-09
I was going to give this HP all in one less then 3 stars, but I decided that 3 is fair, considering that it does some things quite well.
First the good stuff. The 7310 is visually pleasing, and appears well constructed. It is a gray color, though I would have preferred black, and its buttons are raised and easy to use. There is also a color lcd screen and if memory serves this was one of the first if not the first "all in one's" to incorporate a color screen. As a printer this model excels, printing both test and photos quickly and well. I do not not print pictures often and only for personal use, but I was satisfied with the photos. This model also has a fax, copier and a scanner making it quite useful. The are also 5 slots for memory cards for photos, though I have never used them. The unit also boasts a legal size scanning bed and and an automatic feeder.
Now the bad news. Unfortunately the automatic feeder works poorly half the time. HP must have used cheap rollers or other parts, because regardless of the paper used, the feeder pulls through too many pages at a time. So you end up standing there, feeding the pages through one at a time to make sure you get them all. This is particularly annoying when trying to use the fax or copier function. When receiving faxes this machine may doesn't always recognize other fax machines and won't pick up. Sometimes it does so flawlessly, but it seems to be hit or miss. To be fair the problem may in part be that I don't use a stand alone fax line. Still, my old "Brother" fax machine didn't have its own dedicated fax line and it didn't fail to pick up faxes like this unit does. The scanner is fine for pictures, but awful for text. the ocr software is useless and its much quicker to simply retype the document on your word processor then to try to correct all the errors the ocr software creates.
The software in general is not good. There's way too much of it, it takes a long time to install in slow machines, and there are numerous bugs. Finally HP customer service is notoriously bad, so be prepared to speak to someone in India or elsewhere.
Does it all!.......2007-11-13
This printer/scanner/copier/fax is great. It is the 2nd one we purchased for a small office. Only problem...our office was hit by lightning a week after the purchase. It fried the power adapter cord so I spent about a week trying to find a new cord. I called the HP customer service number and got a total runaround. They could not understand English very well and ended up sending me the wrong thing. I eventually found what I needed on Ebay. Heaven forbid you have to use HP customer service for anything! But I love HP products as a whole.
A Good Unit That Can Be Very Disappointing.......2007-09-27
I have had my HP Officejet 7310 for about 2.5 years. I have been very pleased with it up until now. I was able to install it easily and it performed all of its functions well. It prints faster than my earlier HP printers which have proven to be more durable, e.g. HP 960, Photosmart 7150 and HP Deskjet 3820. I like the functionality of the 7310 and I have been pleased with fax, scanner and copier functions. My only reservation is that I have not been able to get the unit to discriminate been a voice call and fax call automatically. However, my biggest disappointment has been the problem with the `Remove and Check Color Cartridge' error that I am now having. After 1 hour plus in chat mode on the HP website, I found out that the problem is a hardware problem with the printer not the cartridge. I used two brand new genuine HP cartridges to no avail. The most frustrating thing about this error, which appears to have happened to many other people on this site, is that with the cartridge error no other function can be used whether or not it involves printing. One can not print with just one cartridge installed which adds to the frustration. This seems to be an avoidable design option which I hope HP will correct. In the future I will ask about overall functionality in case of the failure of one or more functions before I buy.
Piece of junk.......2007-09-13
I have owned this printer for 14 months. During this time I have had to re-install the software 6 times. The paper feed often malfunctions. Checks cannot be properly aligned.
Two weeks ago the printer lost it's ability to recognize a dial tone. It can no longer send or receive faxes.
Now, immediately after the warranty expired it does not recognize the color ink cartridge. After reading other reviews I see that this problem is epidemic. I have determined that the carriage that holds the cartridge in place has a tiny piece of plastic that has broken off. This plastic holds a small wire that holds the cartridge in place. This part probably cost HP ten cents or less.
This is also the point at which I learned that both ink cartridges must be in place or you can't print. You might think that a GOOD company would recall the offending part, but don't hold your breath.
This is the fourth (and last) HP printer that I have bought in the last 15 years. My first HP printer still works very well albiet very slowly. It is sad to see a great company fall into mediocrity but such is the state of American companies in these times. We don't need to worry about foreign companies undermining our dominant position in the world. We can do that without help from anyone else.

Great product, esp. with duplexer........2007-07-29
I love the ability to print documents 2 per page, and duplex so that four pages fit on a single sheet of paper. Lightens my briefcase.
Ink is not cheap and our experience with OffixMax brand ink has been very bad, clogs the heads.
The ability to use the sheet feeder to easily convert documents to PDFs is also great. Be sure to download the latest HP software.
