versatile 2-line w caller id.......2006-09-25
My parents in their 80's used this phone with ease. My mom liked the caller id display so she could tell who was calling. She could also tell if the call was coming in on my dad's line (she did not want to answer calls from all his golf partners) and hand the phone to him while it was still ringing.
At first I thought it had a battery problem but when I replaced the battery, I learned it was because it hadn't been fully charged before use. After that it was fine.
It also has 3-way conference calling feature, but I don't think they ever used that. A feature they did use was the locator. If one person wandered off with the phone and put it down, they could find it by using the locator on the base unit, which would make th handheld unit ring.

This phone seemed to work fine for the first few months we had it, but the battery life quickly deteriorated. The most horrible thing about this phone is the dial pad. The little rubber numbers are hard to press and many times when you hit a number it is entered twice. I bet this happens on 80% of calls I attempt. It's a wonder I have not thrown the phone across the room. Do not buy this phone.

Defective, poor support for Vista.......2007-12-20
Their tech support is ignorant to Vista and the product driver is not Vista certified even though it's written with Vista all over product package. Well, here's the bottom line, their software doesn't work with Vista. Their support people only have access to a Mac. I spent 1+ hour trying to troubleshoot what's going on yet the rep didn't know what he was talking about as he didn't have a PC in front of him. They asked me to install a 80mb "patch" to update CD that came with the software yet still failed. This product is going back to Amazon.

Try and call their customer service at 561-921-0847 and you will know what I mean. Their voicemail has been full since last week and no one there to take a call or leave a message. Tried e-mailing them 2 weeks ago and got no response.
I wanted a product that work in both our PC and Mac and their Mac driver crash upon start. The label on their software says Version 4 yet their CD contains 3.6.1. No place on their website to download the latest version for an upgrade. I'm not even going to bother with their PC driver. Will be returning this.

Heard mixed results regarding these but purchased this with a laptop for my new business. Stellar early delivery from amazon, nice work amazon! This card scanner works great and I even run photos through it. Does what is says, that's a rarity these days! It even works good on my wife's macpro notebook which is why we purchased this brand seeing there was no others with WIN-MAC compatibility that we could find. I would recommend.
A solution for Macs? Not quite all there........2007-09-15
A Mac friendly business card scanner would seem like a no-brainer. The object is to load contact information directly into the address book. OCR recognition must be good or what is the point?
So this scanner has very good OCR capabilities and some neat features-like it is a fully functional 400dpi image scanner for all those vacation prints you have around.
It installs easily and is portable enough to carry around in your laptop case.
So what's not to like? The interface is a bit clunky and counter-intuitive. To save to your address book you must first add it as an application (it should be the default application for the Mac version) and hit the send button or else it is lost forever. As to images I am still not sure where they get saved-perhaps iPhoto or the Library needs to be added. Since the image scan is not why I bought this scanner, it is not that important to me right now.
Additionally it has a multiple card scan feature that I have yet to figure out. The documentation is only fair, so experimentation is the order of the day. IRIS needs to do something about this. Also the feeder will mis-feed if you aren't careful. Not a big deal, you just hit continue, delete the card and re-feed.
Fast scanner, decent software........2007-09-10
I was looking for an affordable business cards solution, just bought it and it does what it says it does. For as long as I do not have to type in my cards, i am good to go. That's what it does!
Love the scanner, lover the multi-cards views. Don't care too much about Mac compatibility, works perfect on Vista!
This is the second product I buy from this company and I continue to be impressed.

Overall I am happy with this scanner. It was easy to setup and get started.
I think it is a little weak on is reverse type. Matter of fact
I have yet to get the OCR to work with reverse type.
I have also exported the files to my Act database with success and the scanning is very fast.
I think it does a good job and I would recomend it to anyone with a pile of business cards on their desk.

The card reader I got doesn't work; cards don't feed. It feeds the calibration sheet, and that's it. It just grinds away doing nothing when I put a card in. The "online support" has an FAQ with one entry in it. Why bother?
Support is lame, 9-5 Eastern. As I live in CA, that's not really acceptable.

The Amazon service was great. The product was dificult to get started, but then it worked ok. I wish it had more sorting options. The directions were insuficcient.

After reading all the reviews I was quite hesitant to buy this. However I run on a Mac, and you only have two choices. I bought it from Amazon for their return policy, you can definitely find it for less elsewhere.
After scanning 18 cards, I'd say it works pretty well. It does have limitations, its pretty easy to proof read the scans and fix them. I think 'easy to use' sums it up. I think its just barely 4 stars.
The only really INFURIATING thing about it is that it has a really IRRATIONAL liking for toll free numbers - if there is a toll free number on the business card it chooses that as the primary phone number. As a salesman, you NEVER want that number, you ALWAYS want the direct dial.
It doesn't do well with two tone business cards - it will correctly read the text with light background but may not read the text with the darker background. It has trouble with "(" and ")" in phone numbers, and takes the "x" off of extension numbers. You'll quickly learn its peculiarities.
Even with all this, it saved me an immense amount of time.
FYI, I run on Mac OS 10.4.9, installation was really easy and it worked from the start. I did read and follow the 'getting started' guide on the installation CD
Works great - couple things to know..........2007-01-17
I have a Mac G4 laptop running 10.4.8. From opening the box to having 20 cards well scanned was only about 20 mins. 2 things to be aware of: First, you cannot scan the back of a card (other than making it a separate entry in the database). If you are like me and constantly jot info on the back - you will need to enter that text by hand into the notes field.
Second, it cannot recognize 'reversed' text (white text on a dark back ground). Even very clear, sharp, large text is completely lost. Of my 20 cards, 2 had reversed text, and I had to enter those in by hand.
All in all, the recognition was very very good. Lots of smarts there. The product configured easily and worked as it should. The interface is a bit goofy - but not too bad. I thing this is a good purchase
