The SoundStation EX ensures high sound quality with three microphones and a digitally tuned speaker for 360-degree coverage of an office or conference room. Polycom's Acoustic Clarity Technology uses digital signal processing with analog telephone lines to eliminate the clipping and fading that plague most speakerphones. This technology improves speaker and microphone performance over the full bandwidth of the telephone line--300 to 3,500 Hz. Other features that boost sound quality include dynamic telephone-line and dynamic room-echo cancellation, signal depression, microphone switching, and digital filtering of voice signals.
The SoundStation EX has a full alphanumeric keypad for dialing with a mute button and flash key to access functions like hold, conference, and transfer. There is also an extra jack to plug in a tape recorder. Dual-colored LEDs signal phone status, and other controls include a ringer volume, speaker volume, and microphone mute.
The SoundStation EX works with any analog phone system or with an adapter (sold separately) for digital phone systems. It comes with a wall module, 25-foot power cable, 7-foot telephone cable, and a one-year warranty.

Great scanner for books ONLY... Do not recommend for documents. No feeder or alignment guides. Big buttons, easy operation. Scanned about 200+ big textbook pages per hour.
Good Book Scanner for the Price, but UNSTABLE Software.......2007-08-29
If you read other reviews saying the software is unstable, DO BELIEVE THEM. I took my chances and bought it anyway. I found out they were right. You can (and should) consider purchasing some other software and just leaving the CDs in the box (except the driver). I have a lot of thick books to scan (500-2000 pages each) and I'd say the software crashes at least 3 to 5 times per book (and that was AFTER installing the patch from the web site - it was much worse with the version in the box). About once every thousand pages, the software crashes and gets corrupted to the point where you have to completely uninstall it and the reinstall it. Sometimes, even that doesn't do the trick and you have to know how to clean it out of the registry (NOT for the novice Windows user). The company does offer a clean-up utility to get it out of the registry but I found I still had to do it manually a few times. This is NOT acceptable and very discouraging. Find some other software and factor its price into the cost of this scanner when making your decision to buy. Now, as for the scanner itself... decent considering the cost (not a lot of other book scanners in this price range). Don't expect every page to be perfectly straight the first time (I learned to live with it) but the clarity is good. The file sizes will add up, especially when you convert to a PDF. The PDF stores each page as a graphic (picture) and you cannot select and copy text as you might expect. I tried using the OCR feature that comes with it but found it did not do a perfect job of interpreting the graphic into text. What's more, if you try to use OCR your PDF won't look like the book. Overall, buy it if you intend to use 3rd party software.
Good for A4 book sccaning. No Vista driver. Bad service........2007-06-27
Aa long as you have no intention to upgrade to Vista, and if you want to scann books - this is the right scanner. But knoking on the company's door for service, no matter how strong you knok - no body home... All my mails to the company asking about Vista driver were not answered. The scanner is good the service s.........s The Plustek company doesn't understand that good scanner + bad service = bad scanner.
I can only imagin what will be my fate if the scanner will for some reason- stop working. In this case my friend turn your plustek 3600 plus into a nice cofee table... I am looking for another scanner....

Optibook Scanner Excellent.......2007-12-19
I scan lots of books. The Optibook is designed specifically for scanning books. I have low vision and must scan all my books in order to have my computer read them to me. The Optibook is easy to set up and easy to operate. I love the quick push button format that quickly scan your book pages. If you are looking to scan books, this scanner can't be beat.

I sell books on Amazon and Ebay and this book scanner is absolutely an essential part of my book selling business! It's super easy to use and comes with great software (PhotoImpact). Plus, it's less stressful on books (especially the older ones) compared to regular scanners. It has paid for itself already. I know my buyers pay more for my books, because of the excellent photos this machine creates. Whoever devised this scanner has my blessings!
Does NOT work as advertised........2007-03-21
I installed this scanner in minutes, and the software went in smoothly. That was the last good thing that happened when I tested it. After that, things went to hell.
As a .jpg image scanner, the image quality was poor. No adjustments could give me an acceptable image or anything close to the quality I can pull from my older scanner.
I scan and proofread books for re-publication, which is why I bought this thing, hoping NOT to have to chop up books to get clear images.
1. For paperbacks, it was utterly useless, failing to give good image quality OR clean up "dark smudges at the edge" and this was with a brand-new paperback which didn't have the page-yellowing I frequently have to deal with.
2. For a hardcover, the image quality was good enough, but over the course of 350 pages, the machine and scan software hung up four times, once badly enough that the only way out was to forcibly reboot my machine.
The basic idea is excellent, and I'd give a lot to get a machine which worked as this one is advertised, but it's simply NOT suitable for a production scanner such as myself. I don't want to have to fight my own equipment just to get a simple job done.
Summary: avoid at all costs.
