UNRELIABLE AND OUTDATED-- AVOID!!!.......2007-12-20
I've owned two of the Sandsisk E140 and both died under very minimal use (i.e. a few hours per month in an office setting). The failure mode is wonderful: pick it up one day and it's dead. To their credit, Sandisk replaced my first unit under warranty; when the replacement also died they apologized but refused to do anything about it. I'll be looking for another brand of player, in part because while Sandsisk's CSR people are great on the phone, they ignore all emails to support-- despite the fact that their web page instructs you to email rather than call.
This unit had good features (FM and media slot) and I really liked the form factor. The ear buds are great...I'm actually glad I have two pairs now and will use them with other players. But the E140 is unreliable and Sanddisk won't stand behind them. The E140 is also long out of production now, so look for something newer and hopefully more reliable. I bought a cheapo Coby unit with similar specs for ten bucks at Office Depot...it doesn't really compare in terms of interface or even build quality, but it plays-- unlike the Sanddisk E140.
