Today, fans of MP3 players have a variety of options from which to choose. Substantially smaller and less expensive than most of the alternatives and utilizing shockproof flash memory rather than comparatively fragile hard drives or CDs, flash memory players deliver excellent bang for the buck. The tradeoff is capacity - flash memory players simply can't store as many songs as some of the pricier units. Nevertheless, most can handle at least one hour of music, more than enough for most music enthusiasts. One such flash memory player is the Coby MP-C640. At just 2.75 by 2.2 by .75 inches, it appropriates less pocket space than a typical wallet yet stores approximately two hours of music on its 128 MB integrated flash memory chip. And if two hours isn't enough, you can effectively double it to four hours by adding a standard 128 MB SD/MMC memory card. But the Coby MP-C640 offers much more than just MP3 playback. It's an FM radio too, as well as a digital voice recorder with up to 16 hours total recording time. Coby has also added several desirable operational perks, including a five-position user-selectable EQ and a dot matrix LCD display for instant access to information such as song title and artist. Compatible with both Mac and PC computers, the Coby MP-C640 features a mini USB PC interface for uploading and downloading, a USB cable, convenient carrying strap and a pair of stereo headphones. The unit requires just a single AA battery and delivers up to nine hours of use per cell.

I bought this MP3 as a replacement and regret making the decision. It was cheaply priced which made it attractive but what it did not get in the purchase, it has more than made up for in how it goes through batteries! I can say it is "the gas guzzler of MP3s". The program it uses WMA which makes it easy to load and has a stopwatch that is useful in the gym. The controls are located where any bump can stop or pause the music if you carry in your purse or pockets; overall not worth the investment.

This is the worst thing I have ever purchased. The thing looks very cheap. Once you put the battery in it, it turns on. You can turn it off but guess what...can't turn it back on. There's a defect with the on switch. Then when you play a song it only last about 10 seconds before you hear a beeping noise and the whole thing shuts off. Complete piece of crap....don't waste your money.
