We got a Logitech Harmony 676 Universal Remote a couple of weeks ago to relieve the stress of dealing with a coffee table full of other remotes, including 4 so-called universal remotes that came with other equipment. The Logitech remote is the ONLY real universal remote I have used. If you have had a go at installing an HD TV system with home theater and other accessories, you have probably suffered similarly. The 676 remote is probably the only item we have installed as part of this system that is truly user friendly. Previously any operation required 2 or 3 remotes and numerous button presses. That was then. Now you just have to hit one button on the 676 to watch TV. Hit another button and you can listen to CDS. Hit another button and you can watch a DVD. You get the idea.

The set up process was easy, but the person setting it up must be able to operate your system. First, gather up the manufacturers' names and the model numbers for your equipment. You enter that info with the Logitech web interface (which the installation software starts for you). Next, answer a few questions about how you use your equipment. The remote gets programmed via a USB cable, and you finish the process by testing the remote on your system. If/when something doesn't work as expected, you press the Help button on the remote, and it helps you fix the problem. It is remarkably effective and fast at fixing the problems! (We discovered three during the first 2 days of use.) You will find this remote works as advertised. After working with handfuls of remotes it is weird to just pick up one, hit a button, and start relaxing!

The remote was alittle diffucult to get started. Once its received your info. it prately programs itself. Bought for my husband he loves it. Its the ultimite remote for the money.
