Bushnell has long been an industry leader in outdoor technology, but now it steps beyond its traditional expertise in binoculars, telescopes, GPS navigators, and trail cameras and ventures into the iPod market with the Travel Tunes 1.0 outdoor speaker system. An ideal companion for camping trips, picnics, backyard entertaining, and more, the system is compact and water-resistant, with a rubber-coated exterior and a rugged rubber trim that protects the speakers from such elements as rain, wind, and dust. The battery compartment is also moisture proof, as are the connectors and rear panel jacks, which feature small rubber doors for protection. Add in a carrying case that delivers full protection during transport and you have an ideal unit for virtually any outdoor activity.
The Travel Tunes 1.0 is specially tuned to sound great in any outdoor listening environment, with a 5-watt-per-channel amplifier, a pair of water-resistant 2.25-inch speakers, and a Z-Bass boost function that pumps up the low-end frequencies. The built- in universal docking station, meanwhile, amplifies and charges all iPods with 30-pin dock connectors, including the iPod 3G/4G, iPod photo, iPod video, iPod nano, and iPod mini. When you're near an electrical outlet, simply plug in the included AC adapter to power the Travel Tunes 1.0. The remainder of the time, you can power the Travel Tunes 1.0 for more than eight hours at normal volume using eight C-sized batteries. The system will easily fill a room or outdoor area with big, clear sound even at high volume levels.
Other features include an auxiliary input for connecting older iPods, MP3 players, or CD players; a compact housing that measures a mere 13.5 by 7 by 3.25 inches (W x H x D); a sturdy metal carrying handle that doubles as a folding stand; and a wireless remote control that handles power, volume, play/pause, and track selection.
