OK - so what do you expect for $35? (or in my case $20 online). I have it plugged into a notebook PC that is 5 feet from my stereo. I am streaming internet music constantly. The sound is not amazing - FM quality, and I am not always listening in stereo. But it is pretty damn good. I have another radio (not a good one) that is 20 feet away behind 1 wall, and that does not pick up the signal very well. I was going to buy a $300 internet music appliance because i wanted to be able to stream internet music into my living room (and my desktop is in another room). But this achieves my purpose, for a lot less, using a notebook PC that i keep in my living room anyway. I can still surf, etc with the notebook when the Rocket is plugged in, it just hangs off the side. OK, so this is not for the picky picky audiophile. But suits my needs for now just fine. But i have noted that it is not being displayed on the GRIFFIN website via a posted link - you have to search for it. Makes me think that they might be phasing this product out. so get it while you can. Oh, sometimes it does misbehave - i might have to plug, unplug, plug it in a couple of times for it to work. $20 vs $300. Portable. Does not need AC power. i don't play music/MP3 off of my desktop/server, but i could easily. What are you waiting for? i knocked off a star for the range and the need to plug/unplug/plug sometimes.

Great Sound quality.......2007-12-11
sounds just about perfect in windows with speaker volume between 75+90% and with wave volume between 70-85%. Also in windows media player I had the softwares volume at 100%. ordered this mid-week last week and got it saturday.

I had to fuss with this for a bit to find a radio station that worked well for both the radios in my house. It functions very well and does what I want it to...as long as I use Windows. I should have checked before I bought it, but I have been unable to find any linux drivers for it. That's my fault, but it is a flaw that kept it from getting 5 stars. Most people I know who would use this type of device have dual boot systems.
Better than the iRock.......2007-09-05
I used the iRock FM transmitter for several years before it finally succumbed to its own design flaws (the "on" button became stuck underneath the case). Looking for a new FM transmitter, I had several requirements:
- Must not be dependent on batteries (the signal deteriorates almost immediately)
- Must have at least a 15-ft signal strength
Eventually I settled on the RocketFM transmitter, because it was USB-powered which meant less cable mess for me. I just hooked it up to my laptop and off it went. No extra AC/DC charger or cables.
The signal strength is EXCELLENT. I have no static problems, and my RocketFM is located about 15 ft from the radio antenna. The sound quality is wonderful. Much better than my old iRock. When people come over, they think that I have the best CD collection ever... when really it is just RadioIO World internet radio.... sshhhh :)
Easy to set-up (you have to use the CD which comes with it, so don't throw it out like I almost did), and easy to use. I love my RocketFM and recommend it to anyone looking for a good FM transmitter for the home.
