Hasn't broke yet..........2007-12-21
More than I wanted to spend to hook up the ipod to the stereo, but it's a better quality sound than the alternative (i.e. regular 3mm plug or FM transmission) I guess I could have purchased an Apple Airport, and I still might, but this will do until then. I like the look of the Kensington 33350 and it's footprint is nice and small. The wierd little built-in remote holder thing is a little corny and cumbersome. For example, if you were going to use the remote (have you ever tried scrolling for an artist or song from 20 feet away? Good luck!), why would you store it right next to the device you're trying to control from afar? And it doesn't really sit in the holder very well, you have to tinker with it in order to make it stay...then when you slightly bump it, it falls off. Yeah, these are not really huge issues, just things that have been noticed by everyone in the household and a few guests. (We found we only use the remote to power on the device and/or skip songs.)
The only real concern I have about this dock is the way the ipod sits in the stand. Look at the picture...see how it is not resting on anything...just standing there whilst plugged into the thing in the butt? Well, if you choose to fiddle with the ipod sans remote controller, then you are pressing on the ipod scroll wheel, thus pushing the ipod back creating lots-o-pressure on the butt connecting thing. It feels like it will eventually wear out. So pretty much anyone who tries to select music in this fashion gets a 30 second "be careful now" lecture from me. That gets old.
Otherwise...it's pretty cool. And it hasn't broke yet!

This is just what I hoped for -- small, hefty weight so it stays where you put it, sophisticated look, and it works well. The remote works fine for me, none of the problems reported in some reviews. The metal bar is not just decorative -- the remote sits nicely there when not in use. In all, very pleased I ordered this nifty unit made by Kensington.

Funciona muy bien tal cual prometen, sin embargo el rango de RF es solo efectivo en la misma habitacion que se use el dock, al ir a una habitacion contigua a veces responde pero esto es muy irregular. De todas formas no es un engano porque el rango que prometen es realmente corto.
La calidad de sonido es excelente, las funciones del control para la musica y el video son las convenientes, y la respuesta del mismo es muy fiel.

I debated what system to use to hook up the iPod to a speaker system in the bedroom...buy a dedicated system like the iGroove, which I tried, or use this little gizmo to tap into our existing bedroom stereo, a JBL Harmony. I liked the sound of our Harmony much better so this proved to be a great solution. Compact, nice design and works well with no problems so far.
