Shuts off after two minutes.......2007-12-15
I purchased this unit a week ago. The sound was great for the price. However, it won't stay on. My husband and I have tried many ways to get the unit to power on and stay on. We called Philips Customer service and they said to exchange it at the store. Did that yesterday. The new unit does the same thing. I have the iPod Classic. Don't know if it's a compatibiliy issue or if I'm just unlucky. Wish it worked! The sound is rich for the price.

I like the design and it works well with my Ipod. I just cannot believe that you can't adjust the volume when using the alarm. How bizarre! How many other alarm clocks have that problem? And the display (at dim) is still too bright. I have always thought of Phillips being a quality brand and I am really surprised to find these problems with the unit. I am unfortunately tempted to return it.

I bought this to listen to in my cubicle and it's great! It plays well at a low level and has good sound especially when playing my ipod. It has an antenna attached also which is something I need to get good radio reception in my office building. Overall, a great buy.

My husband got us a JBL on-time for the baby's room when he was born. We're big JBL fans for sound quality, but this one started dying within weeks, the screen would scramble for no reason. Finally in 6 months the screen completely died. So while we were waiting for warrantee service I purchased the phillips as stop gap. This is a nicely machine for the price. The remote control is great for turning doc off, not so easy to turn it on (for our old ipod, the dock does not start the ipod). My favorite feature is the snooze botton which dims the back light or turn it off.
Sound quality is not as good as the JBL on-time but not really noticeable in a small room. At 1/3 the price this is a worthy alternative.
PS the JBL came back from service, it is in another room (larger) now. We are keeping our fingers crossed.
