The Samsung Digital Natural Image engine (DNIe) Video Enhancer refines all analog NTSC and wideband video inputs for an overall improvement in picture quality. Single-tuner Picture in Picture
This HDTV has a picture-in-picture feature, but it only has a single tuner which does not allow POP to function n the same mode. For example, you can't watch one TV channel in the main screen and another channel in the PIP screen. You can watch a tv channel in one screen and view contnet from your computer or a DVD in another. This tends to be the functional limitation of PIP in most HDTVs currently available.

Fast Delivery, Excellent TV.......2007-12-27

I was surprised how quick the TV was delivered, they were ready to deliver after three days. It looks like they have distribution points all over the country so you will get your TV (whatever else you order) fast. You will get you TV as fast as the retail outlets could home deliver. I saved $400-$500 dollars over the local prices for this product.

The picture quality on this TV displaying HD DVD and OTA signals is amazing, don't use the display at retail outlets to judge a TV, read the professional and consumer reviews to see what is consistently said about a product. The displays in the stores are pushing some crappy analog signal weakened over all the displays. You will probably judging a TV closer than your normal viewing distance in the stores also, you will never look at a TV that close unless you are space constrained. When you do hook up a digital signal and stand at your normal viewing distance, the picture displayed on the TV will look alot better.

I haven't noticed any sound drop-offs, issues with image retention, or judder. With plasma pushing 60,000 hours before half brightness, I don't see how image retention could be a problem in a couple of years since the phosphors are aging slower than older plasma. If it does, you will be able to pickup a 1080p plasma or LCD for $600 in three years.

Just wall mounted it several days ago. Pictures are superb, sound in contrast to few reports, is excellent as far as I can tell. Once the cable box is setup properly, the HD picture is just superb. The remote that came with the unit could not control my JVC mini DVD/receiver and the cable box. But I managed to get one Harmony remote that came free from Amazon with this unit and managed to rid of cable and TV remote and works OK.

Only minor issue is that sometimes top of the picture has a small line that flickers on some stations, have not figured out if it is a particular station etc. I am not sure if I should upgrade to a latest firmware. Overall this unit is excellent.

Everything about my recent purchase of this 50" Samsung plasma was positive. The price was $400 below BestBuy and Tweeter, no sales tax and free shipping through Amazon. Eagle shipping did an excellent job of delivering and setting the set up. In fact, because I had an appointment on the same day and time of the delivery, Keith from Eagle was happy to accommodate me by delivering the set two hours before the expected delivery time.
Now for the picture, amazingly clear, crisp and fantastic. Colors are bright and vivid. Sound (with surround sound turned on) is acceptable. From what I read in previous reviews from 5-6 others who bought the same TV, they expressed concerns about the platform stand, questioning whether it was sturdy enough and not well made; my stand is PERFECT.
The setup with Direct TV went off smoothly, the menu of video and audio adjustments is easily accessible with simple to follow instructions.

This was my very first experience with Amazon, now I know why everyone raves about this online company. Why now would I buy anything anywhere else?

Samsung 50" Plasma - a great TV.......2007-12-21

This is the second Samsung flat panel TV that we have purchased. Both the picture and the sound are great (the 42" that we purchased earlier required a sound system as the sound was weak and tinny). I would highly recommend buying a Samsung.

Very satisfied just as we expected.......2007-12-17

We looked mainly at Panasonic and Samsung plasma TV while shopping. It was a close call. The Samsung seems to have a slightly sharper image to us. My wife likes Samsung's stand better. So, we went for it. We have been quite satisfied with the TV since we got it. You do need to have HD content to appreciate this TV. Not much surprise here.

Two quick observations to add. One, I personally find it sufficient to use standard picture mode instead of DNIe. It's not as sharp and colorful as DNIe mode, but probably looks more natural. Therefore, Panasonic might do just fine for us in retrospect. Two, the built-in speaker of the TV is quite acceptable, though we have an external speaker system.

Finally, don't forget to utilize Amazon price guarantee. Amazon is pretty good at honoring it. We saved quite a bit this way, which makes the whole purchase experience even more pleasant.

The stand is perfect height to hide all the wires that go from my TV. There are enough shelves for all my components and the shelves on the sides are very convenient for my speakers and discs. The glass door slows the accumulation of dust.
